FOR SALE – 2000 Ferrari F360 Challenge Factory Race Car (GT Spec)
VIN# ZFFYR51B000122917

Assembly No. 39990

3.6 Liter V-8 - Newly Restored

For sale is a year 2000 Ferrari 360 Challenge car fully restored with a fresh engine and ready for the track. Note that this car IS NOT STREET LEGAL and has no official title. Buyer will be issued a legal, notarized Bill-of-Sale upon completion of purchase.

History for VIN 22917:

The 360 Challenge car for sale was originally sold and raced under the Ferrari of Washington banner and briefly competed in the Ferrari Challenge Series by a gentleman racer. The car was then upgraded to GrandAm specifications and competed in a handful of select GrandAm Rolex Series races as a GT class sports car with the requisite wing and additional modifications to make it more competitive than its factory spec-class configuration. It raced as a secondary team car alongside F.O.W.’s factory 360 N-GT. Upon retirement from its brief stint as world-class GT racer, the car was purchased by private owner who used the car solely as a practice race car to remain current while campaigning a F430 in the newly formed F430 Challenge Series. The car purchased and resold by an official Ferrari dealer to its third owner, a vintage racer and collector who used the car for a mere two track days before selling it to fourth and current owner. The current owner, an avid collector of sport, exotic, and notable race cars purchased the car in the Fall of 2010. Following the purchase, two years were spent to restore and improve the car. The car received a full repaint in its original PPG color, dated safety equipment including seat, safety harnesses, steering wheel, and fire suppression system were replaced with newly certified, modern equipment and enhancements were made to improve performance. The car was also improved by adding new Michelloto style N-GT front and rear bumpers, 360 CS side skirts and APR wing that was created through finite element analysis specifically for this car. The car has a cockpit controlled brake bias, and full F.I.A. certified roll bar with F.I.A. crush pads. After its two year restoration, the car was tested at Mid-Ohio, unfortunately, during the second lap, the car’s oil pump failed forcing the car back into the paddock to continue work. With only two laps testing, the car’s engine was pulled and replaced with a fresh motor. With the engine out, improvements were made to the exhaust system, clutch, radiators, and E.C.U. Now, one year later, the car is finished, practically like new, and ready to race. Other cars, interests and too little time force the sale of this beauty. With car’s infrequent use, and lengthy restoration process, very few miles and hours have been logged. Additionally, with the new motor, clutch, radiators and other restoration work, it is most likely one of the “freshest” 360 Challenge cars located in North America. There are zero hours logged since the restoration, only engine and systems test time, no laps taken since restored.

360 Modena Challenge – A Brief History and Specifications

Based on the 360 Modena road car, the 360MC (Modena Challenge) was an extensively reworked, non-road legal car intended to compete in Ferrari's one-make racing series called the 'Ferrari Challenge’. It was only available with the F1 Gearbox. At the time of launch, Ferrari claimed the 360MC accelerated from 0 to 62 mph in 3.9 seconds (0.6 seconds quicker than the standard 360 Modena F1) and could corner and brake significantly faster than the road car. Brembo racing provided the upgraded Gold colored calipers and larger floating 2-piece discs, while Bosch provided race tuned ABS software. The exhaust system was lightened substantially and was one of the main contributions to the increased horsepower over stock engine (as ignition mapping was claimed to virtually be the same). For the road cars (even the Challenge Stradale) Ferrari used a valve system which made the car more socially acceptable at lower revs (and therefore able to pass drive-by noise tests).

Unlike the previous Challenge car series, which utilized a F355 road car with a dealer-installed 'challenge upgrade' kit, the 360 MC was a factory built track car, which allowed greater weight reduction efforts. The enhanced driving characteristics and substantial weight reduction meant the car could comfortably outperform its road-going counterpart even though power from the 3.6 engine was claimed to be similar.

The 360MC featured a stripped-down race-car interior with the stereo, electric windows and locks, soundproofing, airbags, air-conditioning, and even the handbrake removed. The seats and restraints were replaced by a single carbon fiber racing seat and FIA approved restraint harnesses, and a roll cage was fitted for safety along with a fire suppression system. The instrument cluster was reworked with a monochrome LCD to display vital engine data. The adaptive suspension of the road car was replaced by adjustable racing dampers, while larger brakes with extra cooling ducts were added.

On Sep-14-14 at 13:03:26 PDT, seller added the following information:

To answer a few questions.

The prior owner that had a total investment of 124k never drove the car other than 4 laps prior to the restoration where the front wheel came off damaging the wheel only all of which were replaced. That is why the wheels lugs and bolts were upgraded.

During my ownership the car arrived at two events both times the car went into limp mode - since the restoration and all the upgrades it has done under 10 laps.

The potentiometer along with every connection has been replaced along with all fresh fluids.

Ferrari IPO worth $1 billion to launch imminently

Fri, Oct 2 2015

Or maybe not. Back in July, we reported that Ferrari's initial public offering could come any day, based on what FCA honcho Sergio Marchionne told reporters at an international economic forum. Marchionne himself ensured investors that the Maranello automaker was "days away" from filing the paperwork. That didn't happen. Now it's October, and the rumormill is churning about all things Ferrari IPO on the news that the company has filed amended IPO documents with the SEC on September 22. Like last time, the launch is apparently imminent – as early as today, reports CNBC – and sources are hearing an offer of $1 billion in stock, or roughly 10 percent of what FCA believes Ferrari to be worth. Back in July, Marchionne insisted that Ferrari was worth as much as $11 billion, despite experts at the time pointing out that this was much higher than even the company's internal assessment of the brand's value. Bloomberg is also reporting that demand for Ferrari stock may exceed supply by as much as 10 times, even before the IPO. Much of this value (as much as half) is derived from the brand as intellectual property, as opposed to its assets or profitability. Part of the brand value equation is Marchionne's attempt to reposition Ferrari as a "luxury" brand, as Business Insider notes – the word "luxury" is mentioned 151 times in the document. The broad universe of branded Ferrari goods, like luxury clothing and toys, are a strong illustration of Ferrari's power as a brand. For traditionalists and Ferrari fans jittery at the thought of their beloved manufacturer subject to the whims of shareholders, a few calming notes. Tech Times reports that the documents confirm that Ferrari will remain incorporated as an Italian company. More importantly, there's no indication at present that Ferrari's new emphasis on "luxury" will change their product plans, meaning ever-faster exotic cars will continue to roll out of Maranello for now.Related Video:

1990 Riva 32 speedboat is a 780 hp seagoing Ferrari

Tue, May 3 2016

This is a 1990 Riva Ferrari 32, and it's going up for auction later this month in Monaco. The vessel resulted from a collaboration between the automaker and Italian shipyard Riva – which has also provided the basis for classic wooden speedboats for the founder of Lamborghini and the designer of McLarens. The Ferrari-influenced craft measures 32 feet in length with a pair of V8 engines under the aft deck capable of propelling it up to 60 miles per hour. Rather than make a marine version of one of its road-going engines, as Lamborghini has, the Riva Ferrari was powered by Vulcano 400 marine engines each displacing 8.0 liters and good for 390 horsepower. Only 40 examples were ever made, of which this is the 28th. RM Sotheby's anticipates it will fetch upwards of $200,000 when the gavel drops at Le Sporting in Monte Carlo, which is about what you'd pay for a California T these days. Matching red Wayfarers and gold Rolex not included.
