Ferrari Enzo split in half in crash could sell for millions

Wed, Jan 20 2016

The 2004 Ferrari Enzo you see here is quite unlike any other. You see, back in 2006, tech entrepreneur Stefan Eriksson famously sliced this Enzo in half when he hit a pole along the Pacific Coast Highway while allegedly speeding at around 160 miles per hour (as you can see in the image below). And now you can bid to own it. RM Sotheby's will auction the infamous supercar in Paris on February 3. The supercar carries an estimate of between 1.5 million and 2 million euros ($1.6 million to $2.2 million at current rates). Eriksson initially claimed that a buddy was driving when the accident happened but eventually came clean. The authorities charged Eriksson with nine offenses, including grand theft, drunk driving, embezzlement, and illegal gun possession. He was later sentenced to three years in prison. Despite the horrendous damage, Eriksson's Enzo has survived. According to RM Sotheby's auction description, the Ferrari Technical Assistance Service rebuilt the car and added satellite navigation, a Bose stereo, reverse camera, power windows, and a subtle carbon fiber rear spoiler. The team also repainted the exterior in a beautiful shade called Nero Daytona and installed a Rosso interior, which replaced the original combo of Rosso Corsa on the outside and Nero inside. The car has covered 2,500 kilometers (1,553 miles) and remained in Europe since it was rebuilt from the untimely accident. The car also comes certified by Ferrari Classiche to confirm its authenticity. The Enzo is a special vehicle even without this one's great story, representing as it does a big leap forward for modern supercars. A 6.0-liter V12 with 660 horsepower sits behind the driver, and a six-speed sequential gearbox gets the power down. We can't wait to see what this interesting example brings at auction. PARIS 3 February 2016 Lot 138 2004 Ferrari Enzo Chassis no. ZFFCZ56B000135564 Engine no. 080164 Assembly no. 52696 ˆ1.500.000 - ˆ2.000.000 To be auctioned on Wednesday, February 3, 2016 Documents: French Certificat d'Immatriculation 660 bhp, 5,998 cc DOHC 65-degree V-12 engine with Bosch Motronic engine management and electronic fuel injection, six-speed electro-hydraulic computer-controlled sequential F1 transmission, limited-slip differential and traction control, front and rear pushrod-actuated double wishbones with horizontal external reservoir coil-spring damper units, and four-wheel ventilated carbon-ceramic disc brakes.

Two Ferrari LaFerraris are for sale in Dubai

Tue, Apr 12 2016

You can rest assured that a disproportionate share LaFerrari production run headed to the United Arab Emirates. Of those, two examples of which are now listed for sale in Dubai alone on Dubicars.com. Both of them are red, which is no surprise. The first, pictured in the image gallery above, is a brand-new 2014 model for sale at the emirate's famed dealership Al Ain Class Motors. The 2014 model is listed with zero miles on the odometer, though we'd be surprised if it hadn't racked up at least a few delivery and test miles. All it will cost you is a small matter of 11,000 Emirati Dirham, which works out to a hair under $3 million at current exchange rates. GTR Motors hasn't listed how much it wants for this second example depicted in the video below. But you can bet that – even with 398 kilometers (or 247 miles) on the clock – this 2015 example will still command a significant premium over the $1.35 million the factory charged for these hybrid hypercars when they were new. If you can scrape together the cash for either, you'll be getting arguably the ultimate Ferrari road car to date, packing a 6.3-liter V12 hybrid powertrain good for 950 horsepower and a 2.5-second 0-60 time. The factory in Maranello only built 499 of them, so finding one – let alone two – up for grabs is a bit of a rarity. Of course if this particular Prancing Horse isn't your cup of tea, there's plenty of other enticing machinery on offer, including a McLaren P1, Koenigsegg CCX, three Porsche 918 Spyders, and a handful of Bugatti Veyrons. Will this 1966 Ferrari three-seater surpass $20M at Pebble Beach auction?

Fri, 25 Jul 2014

With a week of lavish automotive events coming up centered around the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance in August, some of the highest profile auto auctions in the world are about to take place. Hearing about Ferrari Testa Rossas and 250 GTOs going for tens of millions of dollars during these events is commonplace, but Gooding & Company is bringing a unique Prancing Horse to sell in California that could be a record-breaker for the company.
The car in question is the drop-dead gorgeous 1966 Ferrari 365 P Berlinetta Speciale with just 7,900 kilometers (4,910 miles) on the clock that's pictured above, and it checks all of the boxes to make it incredibly desirable. First off, just look at it. The flowing lines and giant, tinted moonroof really make this Ferrari a head-turner. Inside, it has the distinctive feature of three seats with the driver slightly forward in the middle, kind of like the McLaren F1. And what a view from behind the wheel with all of the expansive glass in front of and above the driver. According to the auction listing, Pininfarina displayed the Speciale at a variety of international motor shows in 1966 and 1967.
If the looks aren't enough, then the provenance puts this Ferrari over the top, for sure. Underneath those gorgeous lines is the chassis from a Ferrari 365 P2 endurance racer. The sale claims that this was the first mid-engine, Ferrari 12-cylinder model created from the start as a road car. After touring with Pininfarina, it went to Luigi Chinetti, the first man to sell a Prancing Horse in the US and the boss of the company's North American Racing Team. He sold it twice, but the Speciale has been in the hands of the Chinetti since 1969.
