This is the classic Ferrari sports car in the classic colors. Original Rosso Corsa paintwork contrasts against the beautiful tan full-leather interior, set off with burgundy piping and deviated red stitching. The car was ordered from the factory with all of the right options: Scuderia shields, Challenge Grill, power seats, Red calipers, and deviated stitching. All components and equipment are original equipment Ferrari - no aftermarket components or improper modifications. With its incredibly low mileage (16,3XX), this is the perfect car to drive, enjoy, and keep for the long-term.

The car has been meticulously maintained and all issues have been addressed. Major timing belt and complete service recently completed, all oil and filter changes completed on schedule, new (factory-specified) Bridgestone Potenza S-02s installed on the original wheels, recent brake bleed and complete inspection performed. The owner Preventative maintenance includes new ECU units, new transmission pump and pressure switch, rebuilt power steering rack, replaced alarm sender, new battery, new door speakers, recent A/C recharge (blows ice cold) and a new headliner.

Gently pull on the low profile door handle and the lightweight aluminum door swings open easily, revealing satin stainless steel doorsills and a cozy interior completely covered in leather. The power seats are aggressively bolstered and very supportive and the interior still smells strongly of Schedoni leather. The cockpit is driver focused, with large, analog, Jaeger-designed gauges surrounded by a leather-wrapped binnacle, with a very large tachometer dominating the view front and center. The steering wheel and shifter paddles are crafted in machined and black anodized aluminum expressing the lightweight purpose that defines the engineering of the car.

Twist the sculpted aluminum key in the ignition and the engine sparks to life, jumping into a frenzied but very smooth idle, sounding every bit the refined highly-tuned engine that it is. The sound is a beautifully complex mix of intake noise, mechanical mastery, and exhaust bark, always very present but only loud when working hard. The suspension is surprisingly smooth and the ride is very comfortable, with the wide expanse of the dashboard and the aggressive curves of the front fenders dominating a broad and airy view outwards. Accelerating out from a stop, the automated clutch engages smoothly and propels you forward at any rate you like, feeling overwhelmingly lightweight and nimble and ready to do anything. At all times in this car it is very clear that you're driving something special: a fundamental sports car that is more analog, direct, and naturally balanced than any Ferrari of today.

It is a car we have owned and loved for more than three years, mostly for weekend drives through the hills and nights out. We hate to see it go but we're only selling it now because of an upcoming relocation to the East Coast. The car comes with both keys and fobs, all factory tools and manuals, and all ownership documentation and service records. This car has had three perfectionist owners and an easy, garage-kept life on the West Coast. If you're in the market for a 360 Modena, this is the one. Watch this Ferrari Enzo get thrown around on farm roads

Tue, 12 Feb 2013

Tax the Rich, the YouTubers who seem to have sprung from some mischievous corner of the V for Vendetta universe, have somehow acquired a Ferrari Enzo for their latest trick. Last time we checked in with them, they were opposite-locking a Rolls-Royce Phantom at high speed all over a wet, muddy field. Perhaps knowing that if they repeated that with the Ferrari they'd end up with a dead stallion and a field full of carbon fiber parts, they kept the action to a mostly paved farm access road.
But still - using an Enzo for a tarmac rally stage is something we would not have though of, and there's a fair bit of water and mud, too. As Joseph Campanella used to say way back when, "What will they think of next?" Check out the video below and prepare to gaze in equal measures of shock, wonder and horror.

Scuderia Ferrari F138 unveiled in Maranello

Fri, 01 Feb 2013

This is the F138, the Formula One challenger that Ferrari CEO Luca de Montezemolo describes as "hopeful" and the eighth and final version of a Scuderia Ferrari Formula One car with a V8 engine - for now. The last digit in this car's name pays homage to that cylinder count, while the first two digits represent the year; next year the regulations will mandate 1.6-liter turbocharged V6s.
The Scuderia did well in pre-season testing last year but at the first race found itself almost two seconds down on the other top teams. With no significant changes to the regulations for 2013, Ferrari focused on weight loss, making components smaller and making the package more rigid, refining every aspect of a car that's essentially an evolution of last year's F2012. The front suspension has been redesigned for aero benefit, and the rear suspension is completely new. The front and rear wings are evolutions, and there's a new air intake design above the cockpit and redesigned intakes on the sidepods. The rear bodywork forms a much narrower package around the redesigned exhaust system, and the KERS is smaller and lighter.
Getting a jump on the 2014 car that will be a clean-sheet design under the new technical regime, Ferrari has integrated the spec TAG 320 electronic controller unit to this year's car. Forbidden from raising the power performance of the engine, the F1 team has worked on maintaining that performance over the three-race life of the engine. And yes, that's a vanity panel over the stepped nose in front.

Ferrari 365 GTB/4 brings joy to both father and son

Thu, Apr 2 2015

In addition to wonderful cinematography and a keen eye for style, Petrolicious has a knack for showing that cars can bring families together. Whether Nissan fans, classic rally racers or a trio of BMW 5 Series drivers, the series often proves that automobiles can have meaning beyond just as a heap of mechanical parts. The latest video keeps that theme going with a 1973 Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona that connects a father and son. Matthew Lange's dad bought his Daytona in 1974 as a company car and certainly didn't let it waste away in the garage. His father put over 30,000 miles on the Pininfarina-designed coupe in just the first few years. Then, when Matthew turned 30, his dad gave him the Ferrari to enjoy. Today, it still gets used regularly and is likely going to the next generation of the family eventually. Even if the father/son story doesn't grab you, there are few things in the automotive pantheon that sound better than a V12 Ferrari. Lange even takes a run through the gears to let Petrolicoius record the wonderful engine sing.
