This is the classic Ferrari sports car in the classic colors. Original Rosso Corsa paintwork contrasts against the beautiful tan full-leather interior, set off with burgundy piping and deviated red stitching. The car was ordered from the factory with all of the right options: Scuderia shields, Challenge Grill, power seats, Red calipers, and deviated stitching. All components and equipment are original equipment Ferrari - no aftermarket components or improper modifications. With its incredibly low mileage (16,3XX), this is the perfect car to drive, enjoy, and keep for the long-term.

The car has been meticulously maintained and all issues have been addressed. Major timing belt and complete service recently completed, all oil and filter changes completed on schedule, new (factory-specified) Bridgestone Potenza S-02s installed on the original wheels, recent brake bleed and complete inspection performed. The owner Preventative maintenance includes new ECU units, new transmission pump and pressure switch, rebuilt power steering rack, replaced alarm sender, new battery, new door speakers, recent A/C recharge (blows ice cold) and a new headliner.

Gently pull on the low profile door handle and the lightweight aluminum door swings open easily, revealing satin stainless steel doorsills and a cozy interior completely covered in leather. The power seats are aggressively bolstered and very supportive and the interior still smells strongly of Schedoni leather. The cockpit is driver focused, with large, analog, Jaeger-designed gauges surrounded by a leather-wrapped binnacle, with a very large tachometer dominating the view front and center. The steering wheel and shifter paddles are crafted in machined and black anodized aluminum expressing the lightweight purpose that defines the engineering of the car.

Twist the sculpted aluminum key in the ignition and the engine sparks to life, jumping into a frenzied but very smooth idle, sounding every bit the refined highly-tuned engine that it is. The sound is a beautifully complex mix of intake noise, mechanical mastery, and exhaust bark, always very present but only loud when working hard. The suspension is surprisingly smooth and the ride is very comfortable, with the wide expanse of the dashboard and the aggressive curves of the front fenders dominating a broad and airy view outwards. Accelerating out from a stop, the automated clutch engages smoothly and propels you forward at any rate you like, feeling overwhelmingly lightweight and nimble and ready to do anything. At all times in this car it is very clear that you're driving something special: a fundamental sports car that is more analog, direct, and naturally balanced than any Ferrari of today.

It is a car we have owned and loved for more than three years, mostly for weekend drives through the hills and nights out. We hate to see it go but we're only selling it now because of an upcoming relocation to the East Coast. The car comes with both keys and fobs, all factory tools and manuals, and all ownership documentation and service records. This car has had three perfectionist owners and an easy, garage-kept life on the West Coast. If you're in the market for a 360 Modena, this is the one. 1989 Ferrari F40 review had one Italian cyclist seeing rosso

Thu, 14 Aug 2014

We've got to say: we're really enjoying the MotorWeek incarnation of this Throwback Thursday trend that seems to be enveloping everyone's social media feeds. MW has an almost impossibly deep library of historical tape to draw from, meaning each recent Thursday has met with another gem dropped on YouTube.
The last old-timer that drew our interest (and yours, based on all the comments) was a sports car showdown of epic, 1990s proportions. Today though, we've got one of the most legendary supercars of all time, the Ferrari F40, presented with the wholesome goodness that is John Davis' signature style. Any classic road test of the the F40 would probably earn our clicks, but this particular video comes with some added drama around the 5:10 mark.
Don't rush there, it's fun to listen to the period-correct praise along the way, but prepare yourself for a near-miss that's almost as breathtaking as the Ferrari itself.

LaFerrari racing prototype spotted in Southern Europe

Thu, 09 Jan 2014

Rumors have been circulating for a few months now that Ferrari could be gearing up to challenge for outright victory at Le Mans once again with an LMP1 racer of its own. First the head of the sports racing division hinted at the prospect, then the head of the Formula One team lent it more credence, and most recently, the chairman of the company itself confirmed the possibility. We've even heard some rumors over who could drive the thing. But what we haven't seen yet is any solid proof that the Prancing Horse marque has actually been working on such a racecar.
That could be what we're looking at it here, but then again, it might not be. Spied undergoing testing in Southern Europe, this camouflaged test mule appears to be based on the new LaFerrari supercar, but with some key modifications that indicate this isn't the road-going version. The revised aero is a dead giveaway, with that giant front splitter jutting out like a swollen lip and a massive rear wing protruding from the back. The headlights are different, it's got center-lock wheels fitted at each corner and there's a big snorkel air scoop protruding from the engine bay.
What's clear is that this is test mule has definitely been set up for the race track. The only question is, to what end? Even with all the add-ons, it's still nowhere near as extreme as the purpose-built prototypes that Audi, Toyota and Porsche will be fielding in the FIA World Endurance Championship this year, and it's missing key features like the mandatory center tailfin. It could be a platform for testing components to use on an upcoming LMP1, but if not for the aforementioned Le Mans rumors, our money would have been on something else - be it a GT racing version of LaFerrari like Maserati did with the Enzo-based MC12, or a customer track toy to follow in the footsteps of the (also Enzo-based) FXX and the 599XX that followed.

Michael Schumacher's 2001 F1 car sells for $7.5m, nearly twice its estimate

Fri, Nov 17 2017

Sotheby's auctioned one of Michael Schumacher's Formula 1 race cars this week, and it went for an impressive $7.5 million. When the auction house announced the car would be offered, it was estimating that it would go for around $4 million, making this a major success. The company also claims it's the most expensive modern era F1 car sold, though Sotheby's doesn't say what constitutes as "modern." It did sell for about twice what the last Schumacher F1 car sold through Sotheby's went for. That car was from the 2004 season and sold for just under $3.2 million. This particular car, an F2001 that, not surprisingly, was used during the 2001 F1 championship. It won two of the three races it participated in, and helped Schumacher win one of his 7 championships. It's in racing condition, and Ferrari will help with storage and transport for the car. The car's sale isn't just about a rich person getting a fancy collectable or toy though. Sotheby's notes that an undetermined portion of the proceeds will go to Michael Schumacher's charity, Keep Fighting. Among the charity's causes are road safety and head safety. The latter isn't surprising considering Schumacher's unfortunate skiing accident in 2013 that left him with a traumatic brain injury. Related Video: This content is hosted by a third party.
