1995 Ferrari F355 Spider Coupe 2-door 3.5l on 2040-cars
Emeryville, California, United States
1995 Ferrari F355 Spider
The Ferrari 355 Spider was produced from 1994 through 1999 and replaced the Ferrari 348. The 355 was viewed as an enormous improvement over its predecessor in terms of driving feel, performance, and serviceability. Two versions were available; the Berlinetta and the GTS. Over $135,000 when new, today they represent excellent value in modern Ferraris, and have developed a strong following. Certainly when new, the specification was impressive, with over 100hp per liter, five valves per cylinder, a 6-speed transmission, among the first offered in the United States. This particular car is an unmodified and unmolested 28,500 mile 6-speed spider finished in black with tan interior. The car is equipped with Challenge rear grille as well as modular wheels. The original wheels are included with the car. It is in very good cosmetic condition, with nice paintwork, which shows minor swirl marks and a few chips on the front of the car from road use. The panels fit and operate well. The glass and lights are in excellent shape as well, as are the wheels other than light curb rash and clearcoat deterioration to the rim only on the right rear wheel. The remaining three wheels are excellent. The trim is generally excellent other than a small area of black paint peeling from the trim on top of the driver’s door. The interior is original and in good condition. The dashboard shows virtually no shrinkage, just a small amount limited to the binnacle and passenger airbag cover. The gauges and switches are nice, while the leather is intact and in good general condition, although there is some wear to the driver’s seat bolster and a good thorough cleaning and conditioning would benefit the car significantly. The carpets are in nice shape and the trim is intact although it is displaying the typical stickiness that affects Ferraris of this period. The engine compartment and front compartment are both unmodified and very clean. The car comes with tan over mats and Schedoni leather bag for the tools and compressor. The car is equipped with an Alpine 6 CD changer. This is a great opportunity to acquire an affordable open Ferrari in a tasteful color combination with 6-speed transmission. Unmodified and with great integrity, this car has low mileage. It is due for a belt service at this time and comes with its original wheels, tools, and compressor. WE ARE AWARE THAT THIS CAR IS NOT CURRENT ON ITS MAJOR SERVICE AND WE HAVE PRICED IT ACCORDINGLY! TERMS AND CONDITIONS: This car is sold AS IS without warranty. A 10% deposit is due upon the successful completion of the auction. Remainder of payment is due within one week of the end of the auction, and prior to the delivery of the vehicle. Rain prolongs the Championship battle | 2016 Brazilian Grand Prix recap
Mon, Nov 14 2016Rain and an old-school circuit are the antidotes to Formula 1's constricting technical regulations and Tilke tracks. At Brazil's Autodromo Jose Carlos Pace – otherwise known as Interlagos – rain Saturday night and on race day washed away everyone's careful plans, except for those of the man at the front of the pack. Lewis Hamilton put his Mercedes-AMG Petronas ahead of the field throughout the weekend. On Sunday, a storm-delayed start behind the Safety Car assured Hamilton of a clean path to the lead and a clear track. The Briton didn't waste it, pulling out a gap on teammate Nico Rosberg behind, and Rosberg appeared to have no interest in going hard after Hamilton. Safety Cars and red flags kept resetting the gap to zero, though. After the Mercedes-AMG GT S led the first seven laps, it emerged again on Lap 13 for another six laps when Marcus Ericsson crashed his Sauber. Seconds after racing resumed, Kimi Raikkonen aquaplaned his Ferrari into the wall on the front straight. That caused the first red flag, leading to another eight-lap Safety Car interval, then a second red flag stoppage due to conditions on Lap 28, then three more Safety Car laps, and then, finally, racing again. Hamilton never surrendered his lead. The Briton changed tires once during a stoppage, and drove fast enough to cover the full race distance despite the intermissions. Afterward, he said "it was a very easy race." Rosberg had it harder, defending against the preternatural Max Verstappen in third. Barring misfortune it's already clear the Red Bull pilot has at least one Driver's Championship in his career future. In Brazil the young Dutchman drove like he's worthy of the hardware right now. After Verstappen passed Rosberg for second on Lap 34, the Red Bull driver pitted for intermediate tires on Lap 44 – a huge gamble in the conditions – coming back out in fifth. That tire wager failed, giving Rosberg a safe position in second when Verstappen had to pit for extreme wets on Lap 54 of 71. The teenager re-emerged in 16th. Over the race's final 17 laps Verstappen passed 13 drivers at six different places on track. He ran it close-but-clean a couple of times, especially when getting around Sebastian Vettel and Sergio Perez, but he was simply untouchable. Not only did the Dutchman score an amazing third place, he put in what could be the drive of the season.
F1's Raikkonen to race for Sauber as Leclerc brings youth to Ferrari
Tue, Sep 11 2018Kimi Raikkonen will not be going out of Formula One at the top, or even with a top team. The announcement on Tuesday that the 2007 world champion is leaving Ferrari, the sport's oldest, most glamorous and successful team, at the end of the season was only to be expected. Less so was the subsequent revelation that the 38-year-old "Iceman" had agreed a two-year deal to continue with Ferrari-powered Sauber in a swap with that team's Monegasque rookie Charles Leclerc. That will close a circle at least, the Swiss team being the ones who gave Raikkonen his debut in 2001 despite the powers-that-be fearing he was too inexperienced. And it will keep the Finn racing on into his 40s. It will also please Formula One's owners, already facing the retirement of double world champion Fernando Alonso, by keeping one of the best known and most popular drivers on the starting grid. But the days when Raikkonen could hope for poles and wins, already scarce even at Ferrari where Sebastian Vettel is the main contender and team orders have been applied, are surely over now. Sauber was last in 2017 and is ninth of 10 teams now, even if the signs are more encouraging than they were, and there is a likelihood that Raikkonen will now be simply making up the numbers. The Finn will still relish racing with less media attention and more freedom, while for Ferrari there are also clear benefits. For the first time in four years, they now have a new benchmark for four-time champion Vettel and a (very) young driver who represents the future rather than the past. Vettel has outperformed Raikkonen consistently since the pairing started in 2015 with the German's move from Red Bull, and the Finn is already 62 points adrift this season with seven races remaining. Raikkonen has been more competitive this year, taking nine podium finishes and pole at Ferrari's home Italian Grand Prix with Formula One's fastest ever lap, but there are those who question whether Vettel is being pushed hard enough. Some even wonder just how quick the German really is. Ferrari will hope that 20-year-old Leclerc, unless told to adopt a subservient role, can apply a bit more pressure and help answer those questions. The gamble is that the youngster's relative inexperience could impact, in the short-term at least, Ferrari's constructors' championship hopes as he finds his way under considerable scrutiny.
Ferrari pays tribute to Niki Lauda with one-off 458
Mon, 25 Nov 2013Though Niki Lauda may today be chairman of the Mercedes F1 team, anyone who's seen Rush will know that he's inexorably tied to Ferrari. And it's that bond that Ferrari has celebrated with this special-edition 458 Italia.
Commissioned by an evidently dedicated fan through Maranello's Tailor Made program, this one-off 458 features a red paintjob with white roof and gold wheels. It's a livery that apes the cars Lauda drove for the Scuderia in the mid-70s, and carries through with tricolore racing stripes over the roof and throughout the red-stitched black leather interior.
Not the most subtle treatment we've seen, but then the Italia is hardly a subtle car to begin with. Lets just hope this particular example manages to steer clear of going up in flames as have so many 458s - and one notable 312 T2. Feel free to read more in the press release below.
