The belt service is a big job, but the owner before me had just had it done. I have all the original receipts.
What I can tell you is that the car is so nice to drive. My mechanic has told me that I have to drive it more. The car is made for driving. It was not built to collect dust in a garage. I agree, but I have no time. I travel most of the time for work and on weekends my kids are doing sports all the time. . . so, no car. My itch was to be able to own this car. I've done that, and I've enjoyed it, but now it is someone else's turn. The car had the full service done at 70,992 miles by the previous owner. This is what they did to the car: Removed Covers, under car panels, exhaust system, drain all fluids, disconnect all components, removed engine, removed valve coverings, and front case cover, removed cams, all belts, and tensioner bearings, replaced all cam seals, timing belts, and tensioner bearings, adjusted valves, reset cam timing, and reinstall valve covers, and replace spark plugs, replaced water pump, and water hoses in engine, they reinstalled all components, reinstall engine back, refill engine oil, gear box oil and coolant, flush and renew break fluid, replace oil filter, air filter and fuel filter. that was a big JOB back in 2008 and it costed a little over $10,300 between parts and labor. OK, I copied this from the service report and that was the scary job every Ferrari owner wants to avoid. It's done and not due util the car hits 105,000 miles. This major job is due every 35,000 miles. It has now just over 79,000. You should be good to go for a while. |

Ferrari presents its 2016 F1 car, the SF16-H
Fri, Feb 19 2016Ferrari has presented the Formula 1 car with which it hopes to take the fight to Mercedes during the 2016 season. The SF16-H, as the new single-seater will be called, sports a different livery, as speculated in the past weeks, with white paint appearing on the engine cover, the front wing and in front of the cockpit. Ferrari is believed to have made significant changes to the engine that will power the car this year in the hope of catching Mercedes after a promising 2015 season. The Maranello squad finished second behind the German squad in the standings, bouncing back from a disastrous 2014. Sebastian Vettel won three races for the team on his way to third in the standings. The German will be partnered by Kimi Raikkonen once more. The car is expected to take to the track on Sunday for a filming day at Barcelona before testing kicks off on Monday at the Spanish circuit. Touring Superleggera Berlinetta Lusso makes us swoon [w/video]
Wed, Mar 4 2015For the past three years, we've been fortunate enough to have the folks at Carrozzeria Touring Superleggera bring something very special to the Geneva Motor Show: the Alfa Romeo 8C-based Disco Volante. First, it showed up in red (twice), and then last year, arrived in a very stunning shade of green. If we're honest, we were kind of hoping there'd be a further evolution of the Disco on display at this year's show, but then Touring unveiled the beauty you see here. Meet the Ferrari F12-based Berlinetta Lusso. What we really like about the Berlinetta Lusso is how closely it resembles the F12 on which its based, but with some rough edges smoothed out. Despite looking similar, almost the entire body is new, with smoother creases and more retro-inspired design cues. Honestly, to our eyes, it looks better than the Prancing Horse's original. Mechanically, it's pretty much all F12 underneath, right down to the screaming 6.3-liter V12 with 703 horsepower. We certainly don't have any complaints about that. Get a load of this beauty in the images above, and video below.
See what the Chevy C7 ZR1 may be benchmarked against
Tue, 07 May 2013One of the greatest things every Corvette has had going for it, and also one of the most re-used arguments against it, is its price-to-performance equation - long before the Nissan GT-R became the de facto Porsche 911 comparator the Corvette spent decades as Exhibit A. Depending on which side of the argument you stressed, supporters crowed about how much performance you got for how (comparatively) little, detractors carped on how little you got everywhere else in the bargain.
It appears Chevrolet is working as hard as ever to render the argument meaningless. Spy shooters at KGP captured a convocation of European birds of prey leaving the General Motors test center, and aimed at benchmarking the C7 Corvette ZR1. The road train comprised of two C7 Corvette Stingrays, a 2013 Corvette ZR1, McLaren MP4-12C, Ferrari 458 Italia, Audi R8 V10 Spyder and Porsche 911 Carrera S and it was last seen heading down the same kinked-up back roads used to hone the Corvette Stingray.
The C7-series ZR1 and its possible 700 horsepower are still a ways off. If it really is being positioned to compete with the celestial exotica in the testing group, could it be the first Corvette to regularly be the first answer to the question "Cost no object, which would would you rather have?"
