5-Speed Manual Transaxle

4-Wheel Independent Suspension
Launched at Frankfurt in September 1989, Ferrari's new 348 ushered in a new era with its monocoque main structure.
The V-8 engine was shared with the Mondial, enlarged to 3.4 liters and mounted longitudinally in a steel rear
sub-frame with a transverse gearbox. Low and sleek, the Pininfarina -designed 348 provided continuity with the
prior 308/328 models while sharing several cues with the dramatic Testarossa. Capable of reaching 170 mph, the 348
utilized fully independent suspension with revised geometry and a low center of gravity, courtesy of the engine’s
low placement within the chassis. Brakes were large-diameter discs with ABS.

Fernando Alonso gives German TV interview driving Ferrari F12 at the Nordschleife
Tue, 16 Jul 2013Fernando Alonso gave a wide-ranging interview to German television station RTL, the Spanish driver and German interviewer conducting the session in Italian, driving a special Italian car on very special German track. Among many answers - from the industriousness of his native Ovideo, Spain to where he relaxes - Alonso gives Ferrari an eight out of ten for the season, admitting they don't have the fastest car but they have a complete car, and refuses to give himself a number, only saying that he is more complete as well than when he first entered.
Beyond the normal-guy persona and wealth of topics, the 10-minute interview is neat for being able to watch Alonso hurl the Ferrari F12 Berlinetta over and around kerbs while he's answering questions. You can check it all out in the video below.
Former Ferrari chief Montezemolo to be chairman of Alitalia
Mon, 10 Nov 2014Luca di Montezemolo may be 67 years old, but he's not quite ready to retire just yet. Not, at least, if the latest reports emanating from Italy are to be believed. According to Reuters, the longtime former Ferrari chief is due to be named chairman of Alitalia.
The troubled Italian airline is on the verge of being bailed out after years of financial difficulty, with Etihad Airways of the United Arab Emirates set to take a 49-percent stake in the company. While the reports have yet to be confirmed by the parties involved, Reuters cites multiple inside sources in revealing that the airline's board met last week and agreed to appoint Montezemolo as chairman, with current Etihad chief James Hogan to act as chief executive officer.
Montezemolo, of course, long served as chairman of Ferrari, having assumed leadership of the company not long after founder Enzo Ferrari died. He also served as chairman of the Fiat group for several years after the passing of Umberto Agnelli, and has headed numerous trade organizations and sporting bodies. But his tenure at Ferrari and the broader Fiat Chrysler Automobiles empire came to an end two months ago when clashes with Fiat chief Sergio Marchionne saw Montezemolo step down.
This is what it's like to drive Magnum PI's Ferrari 308
Sat, 26 Oct 2013In the pantheon of 80s pop culture, few cars have such provenance as the Ferrari 308. Sure, vehicular icons like the DeLorean and Pontiac Trans Am (especially in time machine and KITT guise) made us swoon back in the day, but there's something about the bright red Italian that makes it stand out; perhaps it is the 308's performance credibility, at least when compared to other memorable cars of its ilk.
Our fondness for Magnum PI's Ferrari 308 is shared by Oscar Verdugo, who's featured in the video you'll see below. Brought to you by theAFICIONAUTO, this video highlights the bond between the men and women who own and love such so-called star cars, and it focuses on one particular 1981 Ferrari 308 GTSI.
