The Ferrari Dino 308 GT4 2+2 unveiled at the 1973 Paris Auto Show was a stunning departure. The name had become so closely associated with Pininfarina’s curvaceous 246 that this new angular shape by Bertone -- which hadn’t done a Ferrari body in years -- was shocking in comparison, add to that the presence of Ferrari’s first production V-8, the fact that this was the marque’s first mid engine 2+2. This Dino pointed Ferrari in a new direction, a departure enhanced by the 308 label, it identified Ferrari’s new 3.0-liter V-8, which mounted transversely behind the small rear seats. Ask anyone, and they’ll tell you that the cars that sported the prancing horse are hand-assembled, high strung exotics, with sophisticated mechanicals. This is a very limited production car, from 1973 to 1980 only 2826 units were built, we have just acquired one for sale. This is a very clean correct example of a PRE-SMOG 1975 308 GT4 2+2, only 3 owners and only 74,000 miles. It is finished in Graphite Gray with Black interior. There were no options they all were equipped the same. There is nothing like the sound of a V8 Ferrari running wide open threw the turns on Hwy 17. #10940. Ferrari reveals one-off F12 TRS at Sicily cavalcade
Mon, 23 Jun 2014Every year Ferrari owners gather from all corners of the globe for the annual Ferrari Cavalcade. This year's edition just wrapped up in Sicily, where over 90 proud owners from 27 different countries brought their prides and joys. Some of the participating supercars were more rare and notable than others - included among them several LaFerraris - but the extravaganza included the reveal of one very unique Prancing Horse.
That would be the new F12 TRS. The one-off creation surfaced just last week, the work of the Ferrari Special Projects division for one very fortunate client. It's based on the F12 Berlinetta, but replaces its coupe bodywork with new roadster sheetmetal that incorporates a glass window to reveal the red cylinder heads from which its inspiration - the 250 Testa Rossa - drew its name and a cowled rear deck. The open cockpit is trimmed in leather, Alcantara and carbon fiber, but ditches the glovebox, air vents, carpeting, audio system and other creature comforts.
Contrary to earlier reports, the F12 TRS does not appear to have a hybrid powertrain, the conventional 6.3-liter V12 producing the same 730 horsepower as the coupe to propel this one-off roadster to 62 in 3.1 seconds and to 124 mph in 8.1 - so as you can see, it hardly needed any help in the first place. We love the Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona. It's most definitely a classic, made famous in part by its appearance as Don Johnson's favored ride in the classic '80s television series Miami Vice... but we won't hold that against it.
The specific example you see above just crossed the block at the 2013 Barrett-Jackson extravaganza in Scottsdale, and it cleared a cool $495,000 after the buyer's commission was factored in. The 1972 Daytona features a sweet-sounding V12 engine mated to a five-speed manual gearbox.

Luca doesn't believe in electric cars, but Ferrari will build more hybrids
Wed, 21 Aug 2013Confirming what we'd long suspected, the hybrid powertrain in the Ferrari LaFerrari was not a one-time thing. "I don't believe in the electric cars, but I strongly believe in hybrids," Ferrari boss Luca Cordero di Montezemolo tells Bloomberg. It's unclear when we'll see another hybrid Ferrari, though, as the automaker's current lineup is quite fresh - the oldest model is the California, which was updated for the 2013 model year - but make no mistake, there are more electrified cars coming from Maranello. "The answer is yes," Montezemolo told Bloomberg when asked about hybrids, although he was quick to add "without exceeding." It's that last part that is key for enthusiasts of the gas engine.
Ferrari's move towards hybrid powertrains reflects a pair of trends in both the political and motorsports spheres. Politically, automakers, even exotics, are being pushed to produce cars with cleaner emissions, or in many cases, no emissions at all. Look no further than the Range Rover Hybrid, which was just announced. Formula One's push towards hybridization and smaller engines is also informing decisions at Ferrari, with the LaFerrari already using hybrid tech already inspired by the sport.
Still, it's reassuring to know that while Ferrari is pushing forward with future technologies, that the gas engine won't go the way of the manual transmission in Maranello - at least in the near term.
