I have owned and loved this 308 for almost 20 years . I named her "Starlet" because she looks perfect but if you look really close you can see she has a couple of flaws.

Exterior

  • Sparkling , mostly original Ferrari red paint. Like many early Ferraris the paint shows some crazing but there is no damage and no rust.
Interior
  • The tan leather seats are soft and supple. Over the years I have cleaned, treated and rubbed them with proper materials and dyes to keep them just right with a little patina. No tears in the leather.
  • The carpets, headliner, door panels and dash are original and in excellent condition.
Wheels /tires
  • 15 years ago I had the wheels professionally refinished and they are in excellent condition. Tires are 9/32 tread and the spare has never been on the ground.
Electrical
  • All gauges including the clock work as designed.
  • Power windows and antenna work properly.
  • All lights work to factory standards and pop up headlamps pop up!
  • Original radio and speakers sound great. (Motor makes better music, especially the sound of the Weber carbs "on song!"
Mechanical
  • Engine runs smoothly-starts right up with 2 pumps of the gas pedal.
  • Gearbox shifts properly, strong synchros
  • Clutch engages properly with no chatter or slip
  • New Koni shocks (front) at 46,107 miles
  • Major service (45 K) at 48,067 miles
  • Fluids are fresh after her winter slumber
  • A/C operates but is cool, not cold.
Misc.:
  • Books, tools, tool bag, keys-they are all there.
  • Original owners manual properly filled out by selling Ferrari dealer.
  • Custom fitted car cover included.

Flaws:
  • As I mentioned, the paint has some crazing. It has not changed in all the years I have owned the car and since it looks so beautiful I have never had the desire to change the paint that Enzo put on in 1978.
  • Zipper in rear cargo area is broken.
  • The outer window seals on doors are frayed but they seal fine.

The 308 is a great entry level exotic . It is very easy to work on and plenty of parts available from quality sources. The key is to find a 308 that has led a "good life". This car was sold new by a good friend, John Weinberger, who owns Continental Motors in Chicago. The ownership trail is complete and the car has had loving care from day one. All the little things-the books, the keys, the unmolested interior-even the original chalk marks on the underside of the front lid and the engine cover show evidence of ownership pride.

I predict in the future these cars will follow their Ferrari brothers into true collector status. The 246 Dino is a great example. Just used Italian cars a few years ago and now $300,000 valuations are commonplace. Many experts will tell you the 1976-1979 carbureted cars  are the most desirable. Some people like the Targa roof but I found the GTB to not only fit me better ( I am 6"3") but it is a more beautiful pure design.

I am selling my Starlet to "invest" in vintage racing. I have had almost 20 years to enjoy her and I hope she goes to a good home. I have tried to describe the car to the best of my ability. It is for sale in several areas and I reserve the right to end the auction early. Contact me if you have questions or would like to inspect the car.- 319-631-3829.
The winning bidder will submit a $500 non refundable partial payment via Paypal. Payment in full by wire or certified check is due within 7 days of the close of the auction.

Lewis Hamilton wins Spanish Grand Prix, takes 17-point lead over Vettel

Sun, May 13 2018

BARCELONA, SPAIN – Lewis Hamilton won the Spanish Grand Prix in a commanding Mercedes one-two on Sunday to stretch his Formula One lead over Ferrari's Sebastian Vettel, who finished fourth, to 17 points. The victory, in a race that stayed dry despite the threat of rain, was the Briton's second of the season, 64th of his career and third at the Circuit de Catalunya. It also set a record, one that Hamilton had previously shared with seven times champion Michael Schumacher, of 41 wins from pole position. "This is more like it, let's keep this up," Hamilton told his celebrating team over the radio as he swept past the checkered flag. "Today the car and myself, I felt that synergy which I hadn't been feeling for the whole year," he added in a pre-podium interview after parking up in pit lane. "It's a good feeling." Hamilton's win followed on from the lucky victory that fell into his lap in Azerbaijan two weekends ago, but Sunday had nothing to do with chance and all to do with the champions being back to their best. He now has 95 points to Vettel's 78 after five rounds of the 21-race championship. Mercedes regained the lead in the constructors' standings and are now 27 points clear of Ferrari who had 2007 world champion Kimi Raikkonen retire from the race. Finland's Valtteri Bottas was second, a hefty 20.5 seconds behind, with Dutch 20-year-old Max Verstappen completing the podium for Red Bull – his first of an incident-filled season. Australian Daniel Ricciardo was fifth for Red Bull, ahead of Denmark's Kevin Magnussen for Haas and Spaniards Carlos Sainz (Renault) and Fernando Alonso (eighth for McLaren). Sainz's points lifted Renault ahead of McLaren and into fourth place by a single point. Mexican Sergio Perez was ninth for Force India and Monegasque rookie Charles Leclerc took the final point for Sauber. While Hamilton pulled away cleanly at the start, and Vettel passed Bottas into the first corner for second place, there was carnage behind as Romain Grosjean spun his Haas in a cloud of smoke. The Frenchman then collected the Renault of Nico Hulkenberg and Pierre Gasly's Toro Rosso in a major smash, fortunately without injury, that brought out the safety car for the first six laps. Stewards gave him two penalty points and imposed a three-place grid drop for the next race in Monaco.

Watch the Ferrari LaFerrari get put through its paces by Top Gear and Evo

Wed, 30 Apr 2014

Do you know what today is? Well, besides being the anniversary of the signing of the Louisiana Purchase (thanks France!), Consumer Protection Day in Thailand and Michael Waltrip's birthday, April 30 marks the expiration of the first of two embargoes on the Ferrari LaFerrari.
That means you're probably going to see quite a bit on Ferrari's hypercar in the coming days. One of the first things we've stumbled across is this video from our friends at Top Gear. Now, this isn't Jeremy, James and Richard playing with the ultra-powerful hybrid (although it's probably only a matter of time before the LaFerrari arrives at Dunsfold), it's the TG magazine crew. It's best to think of the Top Gear video as an appetizer, though.
The main course comes from Evo, which has a far lengthier and more detailed spot, running a full 10 minutes of fun. Dickie Meaden samples the 900-plus-horsepower monster on both the Italian roads and the Fiorano test track. We won't spoil the outcome, so be sure to take a look below for both videos.
