THIS VIPER JUST UNDERWENT A COMPLETE OIL AND FLUID SERVICE WITHIN THE LAST 200 MILES AND IT DRIVES EVEN BETTER THAN IT LOOKS.  THE MASSIVE 10 CYLINDER ENGINE IS STRONG AND POWERFUL AND THE 6-SPEED MANUAL TRANSMISSION SHIFTS EFFORTLESSLY THROUGH ALL OF THE GEARS.  THE STEERING IS TIGHT AND PRECISE AND THE BRAKES FEEL JUST GREAT.  ALL OF THE ELECTRICALS WORK PERFECTLY AND THE AIR CONDITIONING IS ICE COLD.  THIS REALLY IS A GREAT VIPER TO DRIVE.

THE INTERIOR IS STUNNING.  THE BLACK LEATHER SEATS WITH GREY INSERTS ARE IN EXCELLENT CONDITION (SEE PICTURES) SHOWING VIRTUALLY NO WEAR AT ALL TO EITHER SEAT.  THE DASHBOARD IS LIKE NEW (LOOKS GREAT WITH THE ENGINE START BUTTON) AND EVEN THE CARPETS DON'T LOOK OR FEEL LIKE THEY HAVE BEEN STEPPED ON THANKS TO THE FACTORY VIPER FLOOR MATS THAT HAVE BEEN PROTECTING THEM. IT STILL SMELLS BRANNND NEW!!!

THE EXTERIOR IS WHAT REALLY SETS THIS PARTICULAR VIPER APART FROM THE REST.  THE VIPER RED PAINT IS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION WITH NO MAJOR SCRATCHES OR DINGS ANYWHERE AT ALL.  THE PAINT IS STILL BRIGHT AND SHINEY JUST LIKE IT WAS IN 2004 WHEN THIS VIPER WAS ON THE SHOWROOM FLOOR AT THE DODGE DEALERSHIP.  ADD THE OPTIONAL CHROME WHEELS MOUNTED ON GREAT TIRES AND THIS VIPER REALLY DOES STAND OUT FROM THE REST.

THE 2004 DODGE VIPER SRT-10 REALLY IS THE ULTIMATE EXOTIC CAR.  IT HAS SUPERCAR LOOKS AND PERFORMANCE ALONG WITH ALL OF DODGE'S LEGENDARY SAFETY, LUXURY AND RELIABILITY.  I HAVE OWNED A LOT OF VIPER'S, BUT THIS ONE HAPPENS TO LOOK AND DRIVE AS NICE AS ANY.

2018 Dodge Demon comes with a factory tune for race gas

Thu, Apr 6 2017

We knew the Dodge Demon was going to make a lot of power, but the ongoing question has been how much. We've seen estimates of between 757 and 1,121, but those have simply been guesses based on the numbers found in promo photos. However, if we had to put our bets on a horsepower rating, we'll probably go with the higher estimates because the Demon can run on race gas. Yes, the latest teaser for the Demon reveals that it will come with a factory tune optimized for race gas, which is rated at 100 octane or higher. Running such high octane, in combination with its heavy-duty intake cooling, means the Demon can handle absurd amounts of boost and advanced timing without running the risk of dangerous pre-ignition or detonation. Of course this also means the Demon should be capable of astonishing power with the high-octane calibration. The tune will be included in the Demon crate on a separate engine computer that the owner can swap out when he or she is ready to race. In addition to the computer, the center stack also has a button to activate the high-octane mode. A pair of fuel pumps and larger injectors also ensure the engine gets plenty of that sweet racing fuel. When not running the high-octane tune, the Demon runs on your average premium gasoline. Also, in case you accidentally run premium gas with the high-octane mode activated, the car will automatically switch to the default tune if engine knock is detected. You can get a peek at the system in the video above, and be on the lookout for a bonus video tomorrow. The full reveal will be next week on April 11 at the New York auto show. Related Video:

Here's the last Dodge Viper

Thu, Aug 17 2017

The last Dodge Viper has rolled off the line. Ralph Gilles, FCA's Head of Design since April 2015, posted a photo gallery on Instagram with the caption "So long... #Viper." The gallery includes multiple photos of the Conner Avenue Assembly Plant in Detroit, where the Dodge Viper has been built since 1995. In the gallery, we see a yellow unit with black stripes coming down the line, and Gilles is posing in front of it with Dodge/SRT Head of Design Mark Trostle. The yellow Viper is followed by a red car, with nothing else behind it on the line. That red Viper is "the ultimate last one," according to Gilles, adding that the automaker will be holding onto that unit for the company's heritage collection. You can click through the gallery here: This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. Manage Settings. When asked in the comments if the Viper was discontinued because of low sales, Gilles replied, "Not really as it sold well over the last couple of years at a great mix of mostly ACRs in the last 15 months. It has more to do with a new ejection mitigation regulation airbag that simply won't fit in our package." Despite the solemnity of the post, Gilles is upbeat about the Viper in general, saying "The Gen5 had a great 5 model year run and the Viper platform which has not changed that much over the years had a great 25 year run!" He says he has great memories with the car, and that "they are relatively robust so they will be around making memories for generations to come!" Still, we hope to see something that lives up to the Viper's wild, raw spirit come from FCA in the near future. Will airbags sandbag the 2017 Dodge Viper?

Thu, Jan 14 2016

The Dodge Viper is speeding down the road to cancellation for the 2017 model year, and at least part of the reason for the V10 monster's death is a problem fitting it with federally mandated side curtain airbags. An anonymous source close to FCA US told Motor Trend the automaker can't install the parts because they would further limit the coupe's already tight headroom. The government believes the side curtain airbags can reduce occupant ejections during accidents, and all vehicles must have them for the 2017 model year. The Viper's slow sales also don't provide FCA US much motivation to work out a solution to this problem. The automaker moved just 676 of the handmade sports coupes in the US in 2015, which was down 11 percent from 760 deliveries in 2014. FCA CEO Sergio Marchionne hinted at the Detroit Auto Show that the Viper could return eventually. He doesn't like that the current model has a dedicated platform but indicated a new one could share the underpinnings with another of the company's products. Marchionne's current business plan for FCA stresses building the automaker's value, so it might be a while before we see the sweater-clad CEO focusing on a niche vehicle like the Viper. Related Video:
