I'm selling the KMS Cycling Team (google it) van.  It's been used exclusively for driving to bicycle races for the past 6 years.  It's been a fantastic team van as it's a cargo van with custom seating that's easily removable as needed, which means it's very easy to clean and maintain (you can actually sweep it out and mop the floor!). Further, the 3rd row couch seat folds flat into a bed for great comfort on long drives and the Sportsmobile custom side and rear windows provide excellent ventilation and are even screened converting the van into a sweet weekend camper.   The van is fitted with a full tow package (7 prong plug) and will tow up to 5,000 lbs.   The van will achieve upwards of 26 mpg even fully occupied.   It has been meticulously maintained at Performance Unlimited in Woodstock, VT and Foster Motors in Middlebury, VT.

The good:

* Custom 2nd row captain's chair seats
* Custom 3rd row bench seat that folds flat into a bed
* Custom 4th row sprinter 4-person bench seat with integrated seat belts
* Custom sportsmobile windows:  screened awning windows on sides, screened sliding windows on rear doors.
* Great maintenance, mainly highway mileage traveling to bicycle races.
* Comes with the original bolt-in cargo barrier complete with ingress/egress door from cab.

All seats are easily removable for full cargo capability.

The bad:

*  There's a cassette stuck in the cassette player so that does not work.   The radio works fine.
*  There's some minor surface body rust forming in the usual locations. We've kept up with these spots fairly well with sanding and painting so all rust issues have minimized as     much as possible.  Frame and underside are are fine as the factory undercoating has provided good protection.
* The AC is not functioning.  It was never very effective when it was working.
*  The third row bench seat/bed has a small tear in the seam.
* The tires are still quite serviceable, but they're probably at about 60% and will need to be replaced within the next 10k miles or so.
* The van is covered with our team sponsorship decals and the stickers on the inside.  The van is sold with the decaling/stickers in place.

Van is sold as-is,where is.  Deposit of $500 is due immediately and full payment is due within 7 days of auction ending.

This is a really unique relatively low-mileage sprinter .  It's a utilitarian cargo hauler, plush people hauler and even weekend camper.  Happy bidding!

FCA's large, LX-based RWD cars will stick around until 2020

Mon, Nov 7 2016

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles plans to stick with the Dodge Challenger, Dodge Charger, and Chrysler 300 until at least 2020, reports Automotive News. The information comes from two unnamed sources and was loosely confirmed by details in the automaker's new labor contract with Unifor, Canada's auto union. The plan, according to two anonymous sources, is to lightly refresh the Challenger, Charger, and 300 until the vehicles make the switch to FCA's new Giorgio platform. The refresh, as Automotive News points out, will happen in 2018. The Giorgio platform currently underpins the Alfa Romeo Giulia and is expected to find its way to two of the three large American vehicles for the 2021 model year. At that time, FCA will discontinue either the Charger or the 300, claim AN's unnamed sources. If one of the vehicles were to go, it would most likely be the 300. The 300's LX platform would be approximately 15 years old in 2020 and the vehicle doesn't draw in as many sales as the Challenger or the Charger. The Charger made the switch from the LX platform in 2010 with the current model utilizing the mildly updated LD platform, while the Challenger recently moved from the LC platform to the LA platform last year. All of those rear-wheel-drive platforms are closely related. Automotive News points out that FCA CEO Sergio Marchionne stated that the new platform could be utilized across various applications in a conference call with analysts last month. The plan, according to the report, is to stretch and widen the Giorgio platform for the next-gen Challenger and Charger. The new platform is also rigid enough to allow the automaker to add a convertible to its lineup, which could lend further credence to rumors of an upcoming Barracuda. Hopefully, the move to the new Giorgio platform doesn't delay the all-wheel-drive Challenger GT AWD or the wide-body, Hellcat-powered Challenger ADR. We'll just have to wait and see. Vin Diesel and Dodge finally make the partnership official

Mon, May 1 2017

Thanks to The Fast and the Furious franchise, actor Vin Diesel is nearly synonymous with muscle cars, in particular those from Dodge and SRT. The partnership is finally official, with Diesel appearing in a number of new ads for the automaker. Three new spots, titled "Rally Cry," "Monsters," and "Shepherd," showcase Dodge's entire product line, including the nearly forgotten Journey crossover. We can only assume it's taken the Viper's place in the automaker's lineup, as the soon departed coupe is nowhere to be seen. This content is hosted by a third party. Presumably, Dodge felt three months of teasers and a good bit of New York Auto Show coverage were sufficient advertisement for the car. Plus, we can't count on the Demon to go around a corner the same way that some of the cars in this ad do. It's hard to turn with two wheels in the air. This content is hosted by a third party. The Rock, as the latter has been promoting Ford products for the past few years. Related Video: This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. Zombie cars: Discontinued vehicles that aren't dead yet

Thu, Jan 6 2022

Car models come and go, but as revealed by monthly sales data, once a car is discontinued, it doesn't just disappear instantly. And in the case of some models, vanishing into obscurity can be a slow, tedious process. That's the case with the 12 cars we have here. All of them have been discontinued, but car companies keep racking up "new" sales with them. There are actually more discontinued cars that are still registering new sales than what we decided to include here. We kept this list to the oldest or otherwise most interesting vehicles still being sold as new, including a supercar. We'll run the list in alphabetical order, starting with *drumroll* ... BMW 6 Series: 55 total sales BMW quietly removed the 6 Series from the U.S. market during the 2019 model year. It had been available in three configurations, a hardtop coupe, a convertible and a sleek four-door coupe-like shape.   BMW i8: 18 total sales We've always had a soft spot for the BMW i8, despite the fact that it never quite fit into a particular category. It was sporty, but nowhere near as fast as similarly-priced competitors. It looked very high-tech and boasted a unique carbon fiber chassis design and a plug-in hybrid powertrain, but wasn't really designed for maximum efficiency or maximum performance. Still, the in-betweener was very cool to look at and drive, and 18 buyers took one home over the course of 2021.   Chevy Impala: 750 total sales The Impala represented classic American tastes at a time when American tastes were shifting away from soft-riding sedans with big interior room and trunk space and into higher-riding crossovers. A total of 750 sales were inked last year.   Chrysler 200: 15 total sales The Chrysler 200 was actually a pretty nice sedan, with good looks and decent driving dynamics let down by a lack of roominess, particularly in the back seat. Of course, as we said regarding the Chevy Impala, the number of Americans in the market for sedans is rapidly winding down, and other automakers are following Chrysler's footsteps in canceling their slow-selling four-doors. Even if Chrysler never really found its footing in the ultra-competitive midsize sedan segment, apparently dealerships have a few leftover 2017 200s floating around. And for some reason, 15 buyers decided to sign the dotted line to take one of these aging sedans home last year.
