The tailgate has a couple small dings and the right rear fender flare (fiberglass) is cracked. None of the dings affect performance or function at all but they are noticeable. The interior is great and overall the truck really looks sharp but I did want to mention that I have worked this truck and it is not perfect. No rust, no real damage other than the dings on the tailgate and crack on the fender flare."

Hello and thanks for checking out my truck.

I purchased this truck new in January of 2003 in Altoona, Pa.  It has served me well since.  It is a regular cab SLT dual wheel Dodge Ram 3500.  I do like the extended cab better as a rule but when I purchased this truck I drove an extended cab with an 8 foot bed (which I knew I would need) and, since I thought that I would most likely be plowing snow with the truck eventually, I felt that the regular cab was just much easier to maneuver than the extended cab.

This truck has never let me sit.  The engine has been well-maintained.  Other than routine maintenance, the only work ever done with this truck is that I had the Heater core replaced about two years ago.  I have stayed on top of the transmission with regular oil and filter changes and the tranny has always performed perfectly with no signs of problems.  I also have had the rear end serviced as factory suggested.

Not long after I purchased this truck, I replaced the factory hitch with a 24,000 pound class V model.  The factory hitch was 10,000 if I remember correctly.  I do use this truck for towing a car hauler trailer and a boat so I wanted a heavier hitch.  I installed a K&N style air intake which provided the truck with even more power and better fuel mileage.  I also installed a Flowmaster exhaust system on the truck and the Flowmaster was on the truck from about 2004 through 2011.  In 2011 the original exhaust was again installed on the truck so, at this point, the original exhaust is on the truck.  All other routine maintenance has been performed as needed and I kept after it.

I did purchase a Superchip chip programmer for this truck and I used it for a while but the truck has been run in stock mode now for probably three years or more.  I just did not notice a huge difference in the performance either way other than the shift points when towing and I haven't done that much pulling with it over the last few years.  The chip programmer goes with the truck.

In January of 2011 I installed a snow plow on this truck for the first time.  Now, I have been plowing snow off and on for almost 40 years throughout Pennsylvania.  I always enjoyed it, even when doing so in a truck that wasn't nearly as capable as this Ram is.  I have plowed with Dually trucks in the past also and I have found that when the outside dual wheel(s) are going through deep snow, the dually is not generally real good for plowing.  Due to that fact I purchased a 9 1/2 foot commercial grade V plow for this truck and, I have to tell you that I have never plowed in a truck that got around better or was capable of pushing more snow than this one.  The purchase price on this plow was over $ 5,000.00.  I have used the snow plow sparingly for the most part.  I think I only plowed two or three minor snows right after I got the plow.  During the winter of 2011-2012, I think that I plowed one time and during this past winter I plowed maybe a half dozen times.  When I plow I usually do about six driveways for friends and family and one commercial parking lot at a business owned by a friend.  While plowing in this truck I don't think that I ever even spun a tire, I never worked the truck hard and the transmission never heated up.  There is no need to smash into snow with this truck because it just has the power to push a lot of snow without over-working it.

The SLT package on the Ram trucks includes some appearance and convenience options, like power windows, locks, AM/FM-CD player, six speakers, power mirrors, sliding rear window and a few others.  I also added a brake controller.  This has the silver metallic paint that really shines up nicely.  The air conditioning works great and everything else on the truck works as it was designed to work.

I get about 13 miles per gallon when I keep to right around the speed limit. When towing the MPG decreases in conjunction with the weight of whatever it is being towed.  The fact is that this truck was not built with an eye toward fuel economy, but it does get much better mileage than my 5.9 liter 1995 Dodge 2500 ever got.  The hemi engine is very quick and powerful.  I like the diesel better, especially for towing heavy loads but, when I purchased this truck I was not towing anything real heavy and I just could not justify the extra $ 5,000.00 for the diesel motor so that I could spend an additional 50 cents a gallon for fuel.  This truck is a whole lot quicker than the diesel but it does not have the torque that the Cummins has.

This truck will handle any job that you can throw at it and it will do so reliably and consistently.  If you have any questions about the truck please do not hesitate to use the ask the seller a question button below.  I would encourage any prospective purchaser to inspect the truck or I am willing to take the truck to a mechanic or dealer of your choice and, at your expense, have the truck checked out to your satisfaction.

Upon the conclusion of the auction I would request a $ 500.00 deposit via PayPal within 24 hours.  I have the title in hand so we can complete the purchase whenever you are ready to go after the auction ends, as long as that is before August 12.  I am going out of town for a while starting 08/12.  The balance of what is owed can be paid upon pick up or delivery by either cash or bank wire transfer only.  I can deliver this truck to your door for $ 1.00 per mile from zip code 17846 to your location as long as the delivery distance is reasonable.  Please contact me if you have any question about delivery distance or charge.  I would also ask that, if delivery is going to be requested, please add the appropriate delivery fee to the $ 500.00 deposit before sending that via PayPal.

This truck is being offered for sale near my home in Millville, Pa. and I reserve the right to end this auction at any time.  I will add photos of my truck as soon as I get them taken, which will most likely be Friday, 08/02/13.  I do not know why eBay insists on listing the item location as Martinsburg, Pa.  I have attempted to correct that twice to no avail.  I used to live in Martinsburg, Pa., however I currently live in Millville, Pa. and that is where the truck is located.

The running boards were purchased shortly after the truck was new, painted to match, after which I installed them.  They are fiberglass and the areas designed to support your weight is fiberglass wrapped around another material that does not give.  They will support up to 400 pounds.  I hosed the truck off and then took some pictures on 08/02/13.  I will add additional photos of the interior and the plow also.

Good luck and have a great day.

Chrysler recalls AWD 300, Charger, Ram 1500 over ZF transmission

Tue, 24 Dec 2013

What do the Chrysler 300, Dodge Charger and Ram 1500 all have in common? Yes, they're all Chrysler products, and two of them are based on the same platform. And we're sure you could find more similarities between them all, but the common trait we're looking at here is that, while they all come standard in rear-drive form, they're also available with all-wheel drive. And it's the transmission in those models that's the subject of the latest recall notice issued by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
The output shaft on the eight-speed automatic transmission supplied by ZF to Chrysler for the AWD versions of the 300, Charger and Ram 1500 is apparently prone to fracture. That in the end could leave the vehicle without power and could, according to the NHTSA investigation, increase the chance of a crash. The vehicle could also roll away if even if left in Park without the handbrake applied.
That's why Chrysler is calling in 4,194 examples of those three models from the 2013 model year. Dealers will be responsible for inspecting the transmissions and, where necessary, replace the entire unit. See the full recall notice below for all the details.
