Up for sale is my 1995 Dodge Ram flatbed. This truck has been used for my company truck for the last year. I really like it but due to a change in registration laws in my state, I need to downsize to a smaller truck. I bought this truck here on e-bay from a dealer in Nevada and flew out and drove it home. It had a utility bed on it when I bought it and I had the bed changed to put the flatbed on from my old truck which was totaled by a drunk driver while parked in front of my house. Since I've owned this truck, I've done several things to improve it. One was to have heavier springs installed in the rear so it would hold extra weight. After I had the flatbed installed I made new sideboards and painted the bed and sideboards. Sideboards are heavy duty made of 2 by10 boards and 3 in. channel iron uprights. I put 2 new batteries in shortly after I bought it, and a few months later I replaced the crankshaft position sensor, had the AC repaired and fixed some transmission leaks and had a new windshield installed. I also recently had the front brakes replaced and a new pitman arm installed. The radio, AC, Heat, and power windows all work. The overhead compass and thermometer also work The power windows occasionally don't work and you have to tap on the door to get them working again. I think its a loose wire or possible a dirty switch. The tires are in good shape and still have a lot of miles left on them. Mudgrips on the rear and regular tread on the front. All glass is good with no cracks. I've recently gotten 21 MPG on one long trip unloaded and on the way home the same trip got 18 MPG with a 4000 LB load. I've taken several long trips in it this last year, and it hasn't left me stranded anywhere or had any major breakdowns, I personally wouldn't be afraid to get in it and drive it anywhere in the nation. It's very reliable. There are a few things about the truck that are not perfect but it's in pretty good shape for it's age. It has been re-painted in the past before my owning it and was originally white. There are a few small dings where the white is showing through. There are a couple cracks in the dash that are barely noticeable, and there are some stains on the carpet, that don't show because they are covered by the floor mats. The seat is good except for some wear on the drivers side that you can see in the photo. There are 4 holes drilled into the front bumper on both sides that were used to support a pipe rack it had on it that was put on by the previous owner. It is also missing the interior rear view mirror. I'm not aware of any major mechanical problems I have a spare belt and water pump that I will include to the new owner. The mileage listed is current as of the listing date Oct 19, 2013 and is subject to change as it's still being used. If you want the current mileage before bidding feel free to ask. Buyer is responsible for any transport or shipping. I will help in any way I can but I prefer you make your own arrangements. Update* In late November early December 2013 I took this truck on a 3500 mile round trip from Garden City Kansas to Jacksonville Florida. My average fuel mileage for the trip was slightly over 18 MPG. On the return home I was hauling around 3500 LBS. As stated above, the mileage will be changing as it is still being driven. The autocheck report is showing 2 problems, one being a duplicate title. This must have happened before my owning it. All I know is that i did not have any problem getting a title issued in my name. The other problem is because the title is stating "mileage exceeding the mechanical limits" I don't know why this is showing as an issue. What do they consider as the mechanical limits? |

Challenger A/T Unlimited Concept could be your next Hellcat-powered ORV
Fri, 29 Aug 2014This past June I spent an excellent day hanging out with Joey Ruiter, driving and discussing his Reboot Buggy project. Before heading home, I let him know that he was more than welcome to keep me abreast of whichever new automotive project he'd get into. You can never have too many car designers and one-off fabricators in your Rolodex, right?
Ruiter recently made good with the follow-up, emailing me with details on this Dodge Challenger A/T Untamed Concept that pushes a lot of hot buttons for the muscle car and off-roading enthusiasts.
This all-terrain Mopar is a lot more than a Challenger body dropped on a truck chassis, too. A materialized version of the A/T would included a completely new, long-travel suspension, skid plates, body armor and rock sliders, and obviously flared fenders to help accommodate a hellacious set of off-road-ready tires. The dramatically revised underpinnings would be topped with a slick graphics package and a killer lower light bar, all making the A/T look quite cohesive in its own, radical way. And the result would be a car no longer limited to mere road-driving.
FCA, Ford idle plants due to semiconductor shortage
Fri, Jan 8 2021DETROIT (Reuters) - Ford and FCA will become the latest automakers to idle production facilities due to a semiconductor shortage. Ford's Louisville Assembly Plant in Kentucky will idle for a week, borrowing a down period from later in the year to compensate. Per Automotive News, FCA is idling its Brampton facility in Ontario, Canada, and one other site which has not yet been identified. Louisville Assembly is the production site for the Ford Escape and Lincoln Corsair SUVs; Brampton Assembly produces the Chrysler 300, Dodge Charger and Dodge Challenger for FCA. A Ford spokeswoman, who declined to identify the semiconductor supplier, confirmed the temporary shutdown to Reuters. In this, FCA and Ford join Nissan and potentially Honda in idling production in the wake of the shortage, which also hit Volkswagen late last year. The shortages are being blamed on consumer demand for silicon after production slowdowns resulting from the coronavirus pandemic. Volkswagen said it had to adjust production schedules in China, Europe and North America to compensate. Nissan said it planned to reduce production of the Note, a hybrid electric car, at its Oppama Plant in Kanagawa prefecture, Japan, but did not give details of the scale of the output cut. The Nikkei newspaper reported that Nissan would slash its Note production at Oppama to about 5,000 units in January, from an initially planned 15,000 units. "A global shortage of semiconductors has affected parts procurement in the auto sector. As a result of this shortage, the Oppama Plant in Japan will adjust production in January, reducing production of the Nissan NOTE," Nissan said in a statement. Stellantis reveals STLA Large platform with EV and ICE support
Fri, Jan 19 2024Hot on the heels of a Jeep Wagoneer S teaser and photos of the prototype next-generation Dodge Charger (or Challenger), comes a reveal and details of what will likely underpin both of them: the STLA Large platform. It's one of multiple Stellantis flexible architectures that will be the basis of its upcoming electric cars, and apparently internal combustion ones, too. Stellantis says the STLA Large platform will be for D- and E-segment cars, crossovers and SUVs. In other words, it will be for midsize and large vehicles. For reference, lengths supported will be from 187.6 to 201.8 inches, and width will range from 74.7 to 79.9 inches. It will be highly flexible, too, with Stellantis claiming significant amounts of adjustability in overhangs, wheelbase, suspension placement and powertrain arrangement. The powertrain flexibility is quite impressive. Front-, rear- and all-wheel-drive layouts will be supported. Single- and dual-motor layouts will be on offer. Internal combustion will be available, too, either on its own or as a hybrid. Apparently engines can be fitted either longitudinally or transversely, too. Battery packs with between 85 and 118 kWh of capacity will be offered, with Stellantis claiming that sedan-style vehicles could have a range of up to 500 miles. The packs will also be available in 400- and 800-volt designs. Stellantis noted also that the platform can "easily accept future energy storage technologies when they reach production readiness." This seems to hint that the company is looking at different battery chemistries and maybe even solid-state batteries that could be added more easily in the future. Furthermore, the platform is designed to handle impressive output. Stellantis says that some models on the platform will have 0-to-62 mph times in the 2-second range. Limited-slip differentials for improved power delivery and wheel-end disconnects for reduced mechanical drag are also on the table for this platform. All of these details fit well with the information previously given for the concept Dodge Charger Daytona Banshee and Jeep Wagoneer S. The former was previewed with both battery voltage architectures and a wide range of electric powertrains with between 456 and 670 horsepower depending on specification and upgrades. And that's just for the 400-volt system; the 800-volt option wasn't detailed. We've also seen photos of the Charger chassis seemingly with provisions for gas engines, likely versions of the Hurricane I6.
