This '96 dodge ram 1500 is like nothing you've ever seen. Truck has approximately 18" of lift on 39.5" tires with custom 16" rims and has room for much larger tires. This dodge has been professionally converted to leaf spring suspension front and rear. Suspension has polyurethane bushings and custom drag link/ tie rods. Interior is very clean with the exceptions of the ripped drivers seat (seen in picture) and the windshield with a crack in the lower region (also seen in picture). Frame is rust free and the body is straight minus a few slight dings and scrapes here and there, rust starting on rear bumper (also in pictures). Tires will need replaces soon, also front end and t-case both lock in perfectly but it will need a new front drive shaft made. It needs a custom sized double cardian at both ends and new flange on the pinion and the 4wd will work fine again. They run about $500 to $700 for the shaft and around $50 for the flange. Fuel level ending unit chooses when it wants to work but its never been a problem for me. The only reason im getting rid of this truck is I have to cut back on all my toys I hate to see it go its a lot of fun and has been very good to me, I don't want it to seem like im bashing on it I just would rather let you know everything wrong with it ahead of time rather then having someone upset with me later. Over all in amazing shape for the age and runs and shifts great with less then 93000 miles and you wont find many vehicles that turns more heads. Buyer will be responsible to arrange shipping or pick-up. Vehicle sold as is.

Total auto recalls already on record pace in 2014
Tue, 08 Apr 2014If you've noticed that there have been more recalls than usual this year, you may be on to something. According to a report from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the US market is on pace to break a record for recalls. In 2013, 22 million cars were recalled. We're only a third of the way through 2014, though, and we've already halved that figure, with 11 million units recalled. That's wild.
Considering the past few months, it shouldn't be a surprise that General Motors is leading the charge, with six million of the 11 million units recalled coming from one of the General's four brands. Between truck recalls, CUV recalls and the ignition switch recall, 2014 hasn't been a great year for GM.
Other recall leaders include Nissan (one million Sentra and Altima sedans), Honda (900,000 Odyssey minivans), Toyota (over one million units in a few recalls), Volkswagen (150,000 Passat sedans), Chrysler (644,000 Dodge Durango and Jeep Grand Cherokee SUVs) and most recently, Ford (434,000 units, the bulk of which were early Ford Escape CUVs). So while it's been a bad year for GM so far, its competitors aren't doing too well, either.
2015 Dodge Charger shows off its new look in New York [w/videos]
Thu, 17 Apr 2014With a new look inspired largely by the Dart compact, the 2015 Dodge Charger made its New York Auto Show debut today. Along with the interior and exterior changes, an eight-speed automatic becomes standard across the range.
What hasn't changed is the choice of engines under the Charger's long hood. A 3.7-liter V6 serves as the base mill, and can be had in both rear- and all-wheel-drive varieties, while the 5.7-liter V8 is an optional item and can be had in rear-drive only. Outputs are also carried over from last year, with 292 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque for the six-pot, while the Hemi V8 delivers 370 hp and 395 lb-ft of torque.
The new exterior treatment is a fairly large departure from the styling tone set by the Charger since its reintroduction to the US market in 2006. The blacked-out, crosshair grille and new headlamps are the biggest changes for 2015, though there are other, less immediately noticeable updates, such as the more rounded "Racetrack" taillamps that, like the front fascia, draw some inspiration from the Dart.
I sold my Viper, but the memories I'll keep
Thu, 30 May 2013The following is written by auto industry veteran Tow Kowaleski. The words are his own, but the memories now belong to everyone thanks to his willingness to share. If you're an industry veteran with a story to share, contact us at tipsATautoblogDOTcom.
It became the flame that started the fire of belief in the next life of Chrysler.
I just sold a car. Nothing new. Millions do it every day. But my car was a 1995 Dodge Viper, so maybe it was a bit more unique since just 12,000 were built. And like others selling a car that's been a part of the family for close to 20 years, this was a confluence of emotions for me. I was sad to see it go, but happy to have the cash and one less big, shiny, under-utilized object in my life.
