General Information
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This listing is for the truck mentioned in the title. I traded my parents for this truck about a year ago because it was safer than my last vehicle, but I can no longer pay for the gas needed to use it. So, if you've been wanting a large truck with a giant engine, comfortable interior, nice sound system, and 4x4 / towing capabilities you're in luck. This was my parent's farm work truck before, so I'll mention that keeping the body in perfect condition was never their first priority. I'll post the rest of the information about the truck below.

Condition

Functionally, the truck doesn't have any major issues that I've noticed. It'll need new rear brakes put in pretty soon, but I already purchased replacements and they'll come with the truck. You can either put them in yourself or have mechanic do it, but at least you won't have to buy them. The AC system will probably need to be recharged at some point too since it works fine so long as you're moving, but if you stop it will get warm. The only other weird quirk is that occasionally the oil gauge will disconnect and then reconnect a few seconds later. I checked the oil level the last time this happened and it was fine, so I don't really know what's going on there. Otherwise the truck is perfect mechanically. The last major repair done to it was last January when the serpentine belt tensioner broke and had to be replaced. Since then, there have been no check engine lights, only a temporary check gauges light when that oil gauge disconnects.

Body wise, it's completely structurally sound. There are some small dents or scratches on the passenger rear door, quarter panel, tailgate, driver side quarter panel, and a very tiny one on the driver side door. One much larger scratch runs along the passenger quarter panel and ends slightly into the passenger rear door. Also, the end of the tailpipe is somewhat crushed in from another vehicle, but it hasn't affected how the truck runs. Like I said, this was a farm truck before.

The interior is in fantastic condition with the only damage being one burn and one rip in the driver seat from the second to last owners. The sound system can make the plastics buzz with some high frequencies, but otherwise sounds amazing. Really, it's just a quiet and comfortable interior.

Final Notes
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Overall I really like this truck and would love to keep it, but I can't justify the 13mpg it gets in town, which is primarily where I use it. Plus the 5.9L engine is overkill for almost anything I do, though towing with it the few times I have has been amazing. Thanks for looking!

2023 Grand National Roadster Show Mega Photo Gallery | Hot rod heaven

Wed, Feb 8 2023

POMONA, Calif. — From an outsider's perspective, it would be easy to assume that the Grand National Roadster Show has always been a Southern California institution. After all, it celebrates the diverse postwar car culture of the region — hot rods, lead sleds, lowriders, and more. However, the show had its roots in NorCal in 1950 when Al Slonaker and his hot rod club showed their custom cars at the Oakland Expo. The GNRS moved to Pomona, California, in 2004. By then it had grown exponentially and seen about a dozen more car customization trends come and go. However, the show and its centerpiece award, the America's Most Beautiful Roadster prize, celebrate what is perhaps the first of those trends: the American hot rod in its purest form. Today, in its 73rd year, the GNRS is the oldest indoor car show in America. Annually it welcomes 500-800 cars, gathered into special themes like Tri-Five Chevys or Volkswagen Bugs. At this year's show, which was last weekend, a special hall was dedicated to pickup trucks built between 1948-98, including mini-trucks, groovy camper bed conversions, and resto-mods.  However, of all the vehicles presented, only nine are eligible for the America's Most Beautiful Roadster award. Winners get their names engraved on a 9-foot-tall perpetual trophy that was, according to The Ultimate Hot Rod Dictionary, the largest in the world when it debuted in 1950. Slonaker chose the word "roadster" initially because "hot rod" bore slightly negative outlaw connotations in 1950. Only American cars built before 1937 of certain body styles — roadsters, roadster pickups, phaetons, touring cars — are eligible, and they cannot have roll-down side windows.  Cars in the running for the cup cannot have been shown anywhere else before their debut at the GNRS.  Contestants for this accolade essentially build their cars to the a platonic ideal of a hot rod. This year the honors went to Jack Chisenhall of San Antonio, Texas, for his "Champ Deuce," a 1932 Ford Roadster. It's exactly what you picture when you think of a hot rod, but distilled to its absolute essence.  Other standouts included "Green Eyes," a two-tone green 1959 Chevy El Camino  with a heavily metal-flaked bed, "Blue Monday," a 1964 Buick Riviera lowrider, and a personal favorite, "Purple Reign," a purple and black 1951 Mercury. Cars may have started out as tools, but there aren't shows like this filled with custom refrigerators.

The last time Dodge recycled the Demon name, it was for a Miata fighter

Fri, Jan 20 2017

We and the rest of the automotive world are eagerly awaiting the reveal of the Dodge Challenger Demon. And why wouldn't we be? It's going to be a Hellcat, but with less weight, bigger fenders, more performance, and more Vin Diesel. This isn't the first time we've been excited about a Demon from Dodge, though. Ten years ago, Dodge had another demonic car, but it was very different from the new one. The Demon of 2007 was a lithe little roadster that looked primed and ready to take on the Miata, as well as the now-departed Solstice and Sky twins. The Demon was just under an inch shorter than the MX-5 and the Solstice, and it packed a 172 horsepower 2.4-liter four-cylinder that fell right between the Miata's 170 and the Solstice's 177 outputs. Dodge's estimated the curb weight, which for a concept is largely theoretical, also slotted between the two cars at 2600 pounds. That was about 150 more than the Mazda, and about 200 less than the Pontiac. The pitch perfect specifications were presented in a crisp two-seat roadster wrapper. In many ways, it looked like a baby Viper, with a menacing crosshair grille, slanted headlights, and fat rear fenders. The Demon's line's were brutally simple and geometric, too. They didn't seem far removed from the first-generation Audi TT. The interior was also plain and simple. The key highlights were a horizontal aluminum accent that ran the width of the dash, echoed by an aluminum-covered center console. The instrument cluster was uncluttered, with just four gauges, and the only controls were some climate knobs, a double-DIN head unit, and a six-speed manual. It turns out that the 2007 Demon didn't drive very well, though. You see, we actually drove this concept back in the day, and like many concepts, it still had a long way to go to be production ready. The gearbox would grind, the ride quality was terrible. However, the interior was roomy, and the engine sounded suitably grumbly, if a bit coarse. At the time, we said Dodge should absolutely build the little roadster. In retrospect, the company probably made the right decision not to invest in the Demon. The small rear drive sports car segment was, and still is, an extremely niche market. It would have been a big investment for little return, something FCA today is trying to avoid. This is all before taking into account the fact that the recession was just around the corner. In the end, we can't be too sad though.

2013 Dodge Dart gets brace of new special edition models

Thu, 16 May 2013

After almost a year on the market it, it is becoming more clear to Dodge how customers like to option out their Darts, so the automaker has combined popular features into three special edition packages and sweetened the prices. Start with a standard 2013 Dart and add either the SXT or Limited "Special Editions" or Rallye Appearance Group, and you'll save yourself a lot of box checking.
The $595 Dart SXT Special Edition takes the trim just above the base model and adds a new grille, dark-tinted headlights and projector fog lights, LED racetrack taillights, cruise control and audio controls on the leather-wrapped steering wheel. The Limited Special Edition starts with the top-end model and adds a power sunroof, heated front seats and steering wheel, dual-zone climate control and Nappa leather seats among other features, for $1,810.
The Rallye Appearance Group (pictured) is a package for the SXT, and it blacks out the front fascia, throws on 17-inch wheels and some badging for $395. The new special editions are reaching dealers now and could help the Dart's sales to further improve after a slow start. You can find out more about them in the press release below.
