Bought it for $250 in 2005 and it has been the hardest working and most dependable truck I have ever heard of. Please see detailed description"

This Dodge Ram was originally sold in Canada.  It currently has 172,000km on the odometer, which is about 106,000 miles.  The odometer and speedometer are in KM, not miles per hour.  As I said earlier, it has been the greatest vehicle I have ever owned (and I am a Chevy guy).  I bought it in 2005 and put an exhaust, battery, brakes, steering and suspension work into it.  Since then, I have done a water pump, oil sending unit, front brakes and finally another battery... In 7 years of daily use.  It has never broke down, never failed to start and it gets worked almost daily carrying firewood, mulch, and work equipment.

That was the good news, the bad news is that it does show some wear and tear.  The worst is body rot on both quarter panels and on the floor pan (driver side is worse) see pics.  The rest of the truck only has surface rust, no rot. The drivers side bench is worn pretty badly with hole in cushion and even in cover that I added a few years ago.  There are dings and scratches everywhere and the paint is badly faded in most spots plus surface rust.  The rearview mirror is off the window which also has a crack on it.

The really good news is that you will never regret buying this truck.  I am so confident in its dependability and roadworthyness that I will deliver it by driving it anywhere in the continental US as long as you pay mileage and my transportation home.  I would drive this truck to California tonight without even checking oil level or tire pressure... It runs that good. Everything on it works.  windows, heat, lights etc... It has a nearly new set of BFG tires on it that ran $750 new.  It has no leaks and needs no repairs or work to make it roadworthy.  It is a comfortable and safe daily driver right now.  I carry my kids in it every day.  The reason for selling it is that I now have 3 kids and we just don't fit anymore.  I have a 2002 crew cab being delivered soon.

Please bid in confidence.  I love this truck and never thought I would sell it.  Family space issues trump that sentiment.  Someone else will soon enjoy this truck.

FCA recalls 210,000 new Jeeps and Dodges due to a brake issue

Thu, Aug 23 2018

FCA is recalling some 210,000 vehicles in the U.S. and elsewhere over a possible braking issue. On this occasion, the recall is made less complicated by the fact that about one-third of the affected vehicles are so new, they still reside on dealer lots, making them easy to tally up and put right. The recall concerns 2018 Dodge Journeys, 2019 Jeep Cherokees and 2018-2019 Dodge Grand Caravans and 2018-2019 Jeep Compasses. Most were built in spring 2018, and the recall is related to a brake system component that failed to meet FCA specifications. Further information available on the NHTSA website details the issue, saying that insufficiently coated rear brake caliper pistons may cause gas pockets to form in the brake fluid of very new vehicles. This in turn can reduce rear brake performance — bubbles in brake lines are not desirable. FCA underlines that the brakes still function, but stopping distance can be affected. As a remedy, the brake systems are inspected and re-bled. The recall is slated to begin on Sept. 28. In addition to 154,337 vehicles in the United States, the recall concerns 19,066 units in Canada, some 900 in Mexico and some 35,500 vehicles on other markets. Lee Iacocca's very first Dodge Viper RT/10 nets $285,500 at auction

Fri, Jan 17 2020

The first 1992 Dodge Viper RT/10 to roll down the assembly line, which was snapped up by Chrysler chief Lee Iacocca, yesterday hammered at the Bonhams auction in Arizona for $285,500, more than double the pre-sale estimate. According to a history of the car published by the auction house, Iacocca, in his introduction of the Viper to the press, pointed to the car on stage and said, "This one right here is mine." That historic Viper, with serial number 001, has never been available on the open market, as Iacocca kept the car from new until he passed away last year. The car has been driven just 6,200 miles and was being sold by his estate. Other Lee Iacocca cars offered at the same sale fared less well. A 1986 Chrysler LeBaron Town & Country convertible — the ultimate expression of Iacocca's company-saving K-cars — with 20,500 miles on it sold for $19,040. That's less than the $20,000 to $25,000 the auction house had estimated the car would bring. A third car from the former auto executive's estate was a customized 2009 Ford Mustang. The pony car was one of a limited run of 45 Iacocca-branded custom Mustangs, which were reworked by Metalcrafters and sold by Galpin Ford in Los Angeles. The Iacocca Mustang, never titled and with 220 miles on it, hammered for $49,280. What's the deal with Chrysler demanding colleges crush their Vipers? [w/video]

Fri, 07 Mar 2014

Students and teachers at a Washington community college are up in arms following an order from Chrysler that it must destroy the pre-production Dodge Viper that was donated to the school's automotive technology program ten years ago.
The Viper in question is said to be the fourth off the production line, based on its VIN, and has had its emissions controls disabled, allowing its ten-cylinder engine to produce 600 horsepower, according to a report from Yahoo! Autos. As one of the first Vipers ever produced, the school's AT instructors claim it could be worth $250,000 in a museum, while a local news report purports that Jay Leno once tried to purchase the car, but the sale was prevented by Chrysler.
As pointed out by our friends at Autobytel, though, there are a lot of things in this story that don't quite add up. Immediately noticeable from the news report embedded below - which shows the car at South Puget Sound Community College - is that the car in question is not a 1992 model. When the Viper went on sale in 1992, it was only available as an RT/10 with a (flimsy) soft top, like the red car shown above. But the car featured in the report from KING5 News (inset image) is clearly a hardtop Viper GTS, which didn't enter production until 1996. And even if, as reported by a local newspaper, the hardtop featured is a prototype, it doesn't explain the lack of another iconic feature of the first Vipers - their distinctive side pipes. This kind of pokes holes in the school's argument that this is the fourth Viper to ever roll down the line. At best, this appears to be a pre-production Viper GTS.
