1985 Dodge Ram 1500. I am the second owner of this Truck. I bought it on December 11th, 1992. It had a 360 in it. I proceeded to Strip it down to the Frame and install a 500 Horsepower 440 Chrysler Engine, a 727 Torqueflite Transmission (Out of a 1975 Imperial) with a 340 Torque Converter. I wanted a tough Rear End and 4 Wheel Disc Brakes, so I installed a 9" Ford Rear End out of a 1975 Lincoln Mark IV with Disc Brakes. It has a Willwood Brake Porportioning Valve on it. The Center Chunk is out of a 1966 Ford Galaxy with a 3.25 Ring Gear and Pinion and a Detroit Locker out of a NASCAR Late Model Stock Car running at Nashville's Fairgrounds Speedway. The Drive Shaft is a custom piece with a Chrysler Front Yoke and a Ford Rear Yoke. At 177,000 miles, the Engine broke a valve Spring and Retainer and dropped a valve into a piston destroying the engine.

I had 1 more good 440 in my Garage that came out of a 1970 Chrysler 300 TNT Package. It has been completely rebuilt with all new parts. Mopar Performance Camshaft "Street Hemi Grind" 480" Lift and 280 degrees duration. A Mopar M1 Dual Plane Intake Manifold. The Carburetor is from a 1971 GTX. It has a Factory Choke in the Intake. Cloyes Tru Roller Timing Chain. Comp Cams Valve Springs, Retainers, and Pushrods. Sealed Power Pistons and Rings, Clevite 77 Engine Bearings. Mopar Performance Oil Pump. Mopar Valve Covers and Air Cleaner. Headman "Motor Home" Headers with a Dual In, Dual Out Flowmaster Muffler and Stainless Exhaust Tips. While I had the Engine Redone, I took the Transmission to Coleman Taylor in Franklin, Tn and had all new Clutches and Seals installed. Shift Kit, Improved Kick Down Lever and a Deep Transmission Pan for more Fluid. The Rear End was fine. I Reinstalled all of this at 77,074 miles. I have changed the oil (With Valvoline Racing Oil with High Zinc)  at 81,050 miles and today, it has 81,966 miles on the odometer. So, the Engine and Transmission has 4,892 miles on it. The only road Trip I have made with it since the Fresh Rebuild, I drove it to Chicago about 3 years ago and it ran like a Top!

Well, one thing led to another, so I had the Truck completely repainted, Installed new Carpets, Radio Speakers with Alpine , New Door Panels, Power Window Switches and Door Lock Switches. New Headliner. It has a 1989 Seat in it, a '89 Dash Face and a 140mph Custom Speedometer (Built by Corvette Clocks By Roger) I have installed an Autometer Tach and Vacuum Gauge. A Panasonic OP875 CD Player with an Auxilirary Input Jack. It has 1970 Corvette LT1 Outside Rear View Mirrors. Factory Tilt Wheel. Class III Receiver Hitch (That I got from Marvin Panch) I worked with NASCAR Winston Cup Teams from 1973 through 1993. A set of 15X8 American Racing Polished Torque Thrust Wheels with BF Goodrich P275/60R15 Tires. It has a Griffin NASCAR Style Aluminum Radiator. Mopar Performance Electronic Ignition. A Cobra 25 CB Radio mounted in the Roof with a Weatherband. It haas a Chrysler Tri Band Antenna (Made by Hy Gain). I have installed a new 1990 Grille and Taillights. It has a Rear Chrome Step Bumper and Rhino Lining in the bed.

The reason I am selling my Truck is that I have had a series of Health problems in the last few years. I had Open Heart Surgery and had 5 By Passes. March 27th, I had been on Dialysis and had a Kidney Transplant. I have gone from having 15 cars and I am now down to 4. This is my last favorite Toy that I will be selling. I have a 1999 Dodge Ram Sport that I will put up for Sale after this Truck sells and I will simply buy myself a newer Dodge Truck from the proceeds of these two Trucks. I really don't feel like tinkering with my Toys like I did when I was younger. I am 60 now and I need to get down to 3 vehicles. My wife's, my truck, and Her 1970 Challenger T/A (Which is not for Sale)  but I'll show it to you when you come and pick up your Truck. I took this Truck to the Mopar Nationals in 1995 and entered it into the Bracket Race. There were 165 Vehicles in the 14 second Bracket. I made it to the Quick 16 and Broke out by 2 /100ths of a second. This Truck ran 14.30's in the Quarter mile in 95 degree Weather. It ran 8.90's in the 1/8th mile. It would run high 13's in the Quarter mile and low 8th's in the 1/8th mile in Cool Weather. I have seen it run 6,300 RPM's in High Gear. (Once) that was enough.

This Truck will be sold as is, where is with no warranty whatsoever. Now, I want you to inspect this Truck to your Satisfaction and if you feel that I have not been 100% Honest with you about it, you don't have to take it. I do not have to sell it, I am just getting a little more practical at my current age and Health Status. You can contact me with any questions now or after you buy the Truck. I have owned this Truck for 22 years and can pretty much tell you anything you need to know about it. Call me at 615-948-4204 between 8am and 8pm. my name is Stan Hardcastle and I am the Events Director for the Music City Mopar Club in Nashville, Tennessee.

Inline-6 Hemi replacement on the cusp of production from Stellantis

Thu, Dec 30 2021

It appears that Stellantis is ready to put its long-rumored inline-six into production at its Saltillo, Mexico plant, possibly marking the beginning of the end of Chrysler's long-running 5.7L Hemi V8. But so far, the automaker's American brands have remained mum on where exactly the new turbocharged "Tornado" I6 may land. Stellantis powertrain blog Stellpower (by way of Muscle Cars & Trucks) spotted an entry for a new "GME T6" inline-six engine on the Saltillo facility's web site, suggesting that it was either in production or close to it. That entry has since been removed, but the mystery remains.  We've been hearing tidbits here and there about this new inline engine for years, but this is the first time we've seen anything suggesting its arrival is imminent. Usually, such a significant powertrain update would coincide with the launch of a new product to showcase it. So far, Stellantis has remained mum, even overseas, about where this engine is destined to reside. 2022 model year vehicles are likely off the table entirely.  But while it's common for new engines to debut with new cars and trucks, it's not a universal truth. Ford's Coyote V8 missed the corresponding Mustang refresh by a year, for example, orphaning the 2010 model and its much-needed styling updates with the old 4.6L V8 (and the 3.8L V6, for that matter; the 3.7L Duratec was also late to that party). Even sticking just to Stellantis, the JL Wrangler's powertrains have been a work in progress since it arrived back in 2018. The standard V6 and 2.0-liter turbo-4 debuted at launch; the EcoDiesel, 392 and 4xe all came later.  And 4xe may be the model by which to measure our expectations. Its introduction didn't come completely out of nowhere, but it was rather sudden for what turned out to be such a solid offering. That bodes well for the company's existing Hemi-powered trucks and SUVs. The Ram 1500, Jeep Grand Cherokee and Wagoneer are all strong candidates to receive the new Hemi replacement, as all would greatly benefit from even small improvements in fuel economy. If there's to be a future for the Dodge Charger and Challenger and Chrysler 300, they'd benefit too. And how about a Gladiator with the wick turned up, positioned as its equivalent to the Wrangler 392. Turn that Tornado into a Dust Devil. Don't worry; we've got plenty more where that came from.  Related Video This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. Manage Settings.

FCA to recall 318,000 vehicles for faulty backup camera software

Wed, Apr 8 2020

An array of 2019 and 2020 FCA vehicles are being recalled over faulty backup camera software that doesn’t meet federal regulations. According to recall documents, the backup camera may not turn off “until a drive cycle ends.” ThatÂ’s far longer than the 10-second linger time allowed by the rules, so FCA has to recall all of the vehicles to implement a fix. WeÂ’ve listed all of the vehicles involved below. 2020 Jeep Gladiator 2020 Jeep Cherokee 2019-2020 Ram 1500 2019-2020 Ram 2500  2019-2020 Ram 3500 2019-2020 Chrysler Pacifica 2019-2020 Dodge Durango 2019-2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee 2019-2020 Jeep Wrangler 2019-2020 Jeep Renegade 2019 Dodge Challenger ItÂ’s an extensive list encompassing a huge chunk of FCAÂ’s lineup in the United States. In total, FCA is recalling 318,537 vehicles. They must be equipped with the 8.4-inch or 12-inch infotainment system for the problem to present itself. FCA expects the recall to start on May 22 this year and will begin to notify owners soon. To fix the vehicles that may be affected, FCA plans to update the infotainment system at the dealer or over-the-air. If youÂ’ve noticed a screen thatÂ’s sluggish to relinquish its hold on the backup camera feed (or maybe never does), then you have this recall to look forward to. Update: FCA has provided additional information about the repair methodology. Customers will be able to receive an update over the air or have their cars updated at the dealership. Customers will begin receiving notifications this month. Related video: Recalls Chrysler Dodge Jeep Crossover Minivan/Van SUV

Dodge performance could be electrified, new hybrid transmissions coming

Mon, Jul 8 2019

Dodge is arguably the last company around specializing in old-school muscle cars. Outside of a few models like the Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid and the new e-Torque offerings in the Ram 1500 and Jeep Wrangler, FCA as a whole seems behind the ball when it comes to green or electrified powertrains. That might change over the next few years, as Tim Kuniskis, head of passenger cars at FCA, told Automotive News that he sees the future of performance to be electrified.  At the reveal of the Dodge Charger Hellcat Widebody a few weeks back, Kuniskis said "the absolute future is electrification of these cars." What form this takes or how soon this all might happen is unclear, but changes are likely coming. Kuniskis said the electrified models could be anything from pure battery-electric vehicles to plug-in hybrids to e-axles. FCA’s e-torque system already works with the companyÂ’s Hemi V8 in the Ram 1500, so, if thereÂ’s room in the engine bay, we imagine it would be pretty easy to adapt the mild-hybrid system for other V8-powered vehicles.  One thing to note is that FCA just inked a new deal with ZF. The latter will supply a new 8-speed automatic transmission for longitudinal front-engine cars that will work with both rear and all-wheel drive vehicles. FCA already uses a version of the ZF 8HP automatic, but the big thing to note is that the new transmission has a small electric drive unit built in. If this new transmission is as ubiquitous as the current one, you might find electrified versions of Alfa Romeo and Maserati products as well as those from Dodge, Jeep and Ram. This seems in line with what was announced in last yearÂ’s five-year plan.
