This auction is for a CLEAN, 1 owner, 1981 Dodge RAM Prospector pickup truck. The truck has 82,395 ORIGINAL miles on it. It was purchased NEW by my father in 1981 and the color was a Special Order color scheme of Beige over White. The cab was repainted about 10 years ago. The interior is in GREAT condition, NO dash cracks. I have an extra set of redone door panels that I never put in. Also have another hood the same color as a backup in case I needed one as I found a short bed version of the truck in a junkyard several years ago & took some of the parts off before they crushed it. The truck was running until a few years ago when my son quit driving it around out farm. It has the GOOD 318 V8 engine that Dodge was known for for years. I did pour some gas into the carb & got it started and it was running really rough so it probably needs a carb kit installed. The truck was in perfect running condition before the heater core went out & we just parked it and for a while would start it & drive it about a mile a week, but then just left it parked. It wouldn't take much to restore this truck as it was well taken care of, but it was parked for a few years after my dad passed until my son used it to learn how to drive around our farm, then it was parked under my mom's carport where it's just sitting. She wants to get rid of it now so I'm listing it on eBay for her. As far as what I KNOW that it NEEDS for sure is : Carb Kit, Heater Core, Window Tracks repaired or replaced, possibly brake pads & tires. The truck NEVER used any oil or did it leak any. I have no idea what condition all of the seals are in now. Before the heater core blew, the A/C would FREEZE you out !! I had the windshield replaced in 2006 due to it beginning to "cloud" up in places. I also had replaced the floor carpet with OEM carpet before it wasn't available through Mopar anymore. I have a large parking lot at my old store that will accomodate an 18 wheeler transport for pickup. The high bidder will be responsible for making arrangements for the pickup and shipment arrangements of the truck. I will help anyway I can. This truck is 32 years old & considered a CLASSIC. It is NOT in MINT condition but wouldn't take as much to get it back 100% as it would most trucks of this age. GREAT PROJECT & INVESTMENT as I'm starting it out at what I feel is a LOW & reasonable starting bid. I was told that upon complete restoration, this truck could bring between $9000-$14000 if done correctly. This came from a friend that does restorations for a living. I don't have the time or interest in doing it myself & my mom said it was time for it to go, There is NO complete rust-through on this truck but as you can see it is starting to get light areas of paint deterioration & light SURFACE rusty spots are forming especially on the hood vent area but it will sand & repaint with no issues. It needs to go to someone who will put a little TLC into & have themselves a NICE show truck or truck that will turn heads at local car shows. Please e-mail any questions & I'll get with you ASAP.

The Dodge Demon's massive drag tires are just barely street legal
Thu, Jan 26 2017Despite the gaffe that was the Vin Dieselgate leak (no, not that one), Dodge and SRT are soldiering on with the twelve-part Dodge Demon rollout in the lead up to the car's reveal at the New York Auto Show. The Vin Diesel video showed what is almost assuredly the car's front, but now we get an official view of the Demon's rear in this week's video, "Wide Body." Along with the new view, Dodge shows off a cryptic license plate (Michigan #2576@35) and details on the Demon's tantalizing wheel and tire combo. That wheel and tire combo, meant to fill out the Demon's new wide wheel arches, is frankly impressive. Lightweight 18- by 11-inch wheels are wrapped in special Demon branded Nitto NT05R tires measuring an astounding 315/40R18 at all four corners. Not only does that trump the old Camaro Z/28's 305 section tires, it makes the Demon the first production car to come equipped from the factory with drag radials, claims Dodge. Presumably, the goal with the Demon is to provide enough power and grip to rotate the Earth underneath the car rather than propelling the car itself down a dragstrip. Beyond that, few other details were revealed. Dodge provided some vague information about how the "wide-body is laser clearanced, and the entire chassis is e-coated for durability before final assembly," but doesn't actually explain what that really means. We do know now that the flared fenders add 3.5 inches to the Demon's overall width. Overall, the car looks mean and purposeful, especially wrapped in just barely street-legal rubber. Didn't get the toy you wanted for Christmas? Grab this '79 Dodge Macho Power Wagon
Thu, Dec 26 2019This Christmas, kids everywhere got tons of toys, but what about the grownups? Adults like toys, too, and we particularly like this 1979 Dodge Macho Power Wagon pickup for sale on eBay. Dodge plugged it as one of its "adult toys" back in the day, which makes it the perfect post-Christmas purchase for anyone who's feeling a little left out. Dodge began advertising a lineup of specialty trucks as "adult toys" back in 1977, during the period when trucks were first becoming personal-use vehicles rather than just workhorses. Dodge's specialty models ran though the end of the decade and included the Street Van version of its B-series panel van, the Macho Power Wagon 4x4 pickup, the Warlock short-bed stepside pickup, the Ramcharger SUV, and even a variant of the Ram 50 mini-pickup. The Macho Power Wagon was a 4WD W100 pickup with a Sweptline bed, and could be had in short- or long-wheelbase configurations. Two-tone paint included black on the lower body, the hood, and the roof. Tape stripes, painted spoke wheels, and a bed-mounted roll bar added to the look. This '79 Macho Power Wagon is a long-bed version, riding on a 131-inch wheelbase. It's powered by a 318-cubic-inch V8 with dual exhausts, mated to a three-speed column-shift automatic and four-wheel drive. Not the most manly powertrain, maybe, but it was the late '70s, and one's engine wasn't as important as one's graphics. This Power Wagon's visuals make an emphatic statement indeed, with the two-tone white and black livery set off with bright orange stripes, wheels, and most critically, POWER WAGON emblazoned on the bed and tailgate. It's enough that we can forgive the missing roll bar. Inside, we find a vinyl bench seat, a floor-mounted shifter for the two-speed transfer case, and a period-correct Craig cassette stereo. Factory A/C is also present. Sure, you could get a new Ram 2500 Power Wagon, but would that really have the gold-chain-in-a-bed-of-chest-hair swagger of this beast? If this Adult Toy speaks to you, we would point out that sometimes the best presents are the ones you get yourself. Related Video:
Killing the Dart and 200 might lower FCA's fuel economy burden
Tue, Feb 9 2016Killing the Dodge Dart and Chrysler 200 could allow FCA US to take advantage of an intriguing quirk in the next decade's fuel economy regulations. By increasing its ratio of trucks versus cars, the automaker might not need to worry so much about hitting the more stringent efficiency rules. At first thought, it might seem harder for an automaker with a ton of trucks to meet the government's mandated 54.5 mile per gallon corporate average fuel economy for 2025. However, every company doesn't need to hit that lofty figure, according to The Detroit Free Press. The exact target varies by the product mix between trucks and cars. "While passenger car and light truck categories have separate CAFE targets, it's still true that more trucks versus cars in a company lineup means a lower combined CAFE target," Brandon Schoettle, Project Manager Sustainable Worldwide Transportation at the University of Michigan Transportation Research Institute, told Autoblog. "While passenger car and light truck categories have separate CAFE targets, it's still true that more trucks versus cars in a company lineup means a lower combined CAFE target." FCA US' current product blend has 80 percent pickups and CUVs, which means the company stands to benefit from a lower fuel economy target. It might not seem entirely fair environmentally, but this is a great move from a business perspective. The new CAFE rules aren't set in stone, according to The Detroit Free Press, but potentially taking advantage of the regulation is just one more reason to cut the Dart and 200. Modern crossovers also aren't gas guzzlers like older SUVs, which could make it easier to hit the fuel economy target. "Utilities offer practicality and versatility that cars do not, and now, built on car architectures, they do not penalize consumers on fuel economy as they once did," AutoTrader Senior Analyst Michelle Krebs told Autoblog. Schoettle warns that FCA is still making a gamble by killing the small sedans. "Depending on the previous sales volumes and how much these vehicles might have exceeded their specific CAFE targets, it's possible that these cars helped earn CAFE credits for FCA that they could bank for future use," he said.
