1947 Dodge WDX Power Wagon.  Built as restomod, built from frame off, needs engine and driveshafts and some minor finishing.

Frame was reinforced by previous owner, excellent condition, no rot, holes, or patches, very solid.  Frame is setup for use with either stock steering box or Helitool style power steering conversion.

Title:  Clean PA title

Driveline details: Set up for 360 Chrysler V-8 small block and A518 automatic overdrive transmission.  Engine is NOT included.  The A518 trans IS included.  The transmission has 0 miles on professional rebuild by a local automatic transmission shop, all new wear parts, new torque converter for use with 360 engine, towing shift kit installed, deep sump transmission pan with drain plug installed.  The transmission also has a kit installed to operate the overdrive without a vehicle computer.  This truck has been retrofitted with Dana axles.  Dana 60 front axle, Dana 60 rear axle, 4.10 ratio, disc brakes on the front axle, drum brake on the rear, new brakes all the way around, new wheel cylinders and hardware kits on rear brakes.  I have the Warn hubs for the front axle, they just have not been reinstalled.  Stock 1 3/4" leaf springs rebushed as needed with bronze bushings, new U-bolts and tie plates.  This truck has 8 lug aluminum Vision 19.5" wheels on it with good tires.  There is also an extra 19.5 wheel and tire for a spare that goes with the truck. The transfer case in this truck is a divorced NP205, 0 miles on professional rebuild, modified for twin stick operation so the original twin stick shifter can be used.  Shifter mechanism is included, as well as motor mounts and transmission mount.  So basically, bolt the transmission to a 360 engine, put the mounts on, and it all bolts in fast and easy.  Exhaust system is already under the truck for use with small block Chrysler V-8 with stock manifolds.

Fuel system:  This truck has a custom stainless steel gas tank built from dimensions of an original steel tank.  Brand new VDO fuel sending unit, electric fuel pump not included, but mounting bracket is there under chassis, and a brand new Holley fuel pressure regulator is on the firewall.

Electrical system:  Custom aluminum instrument panel, has new speedometer, fuel level, fuel pressure, voltmeter, amps, coolant temperature, oil pressure, oil temperature.  There is also a brand new universal harness and fusebox kit installed.  All wires are labeled to where they are supposed to go to simplify completion.  It is setup with modern blade style fuses.  There is also an MSD StreetFire capacitive discharge ignition box mounted in the cab as well as an MSD Blaster 2 coil mounted on the firewall.  This system greatly simplifies the ignition wiring circuit, eliminates the need for a ballast resistor, and will work with the stock Chrysler Corp distributor.  I will include all the lighting I have for this truck.

Brake system:  This truck has been setup with a universal brake pedal kit as well as dual line power brake system.  The brake booster is a 7" dual chamber vacuum booster and is rated for a 1 ton truck.  It uses a 1 ton GM truck dual chamber master cylinder, also included.  There is a Wilwood adjustable proportioning valve mounted on the firewall to simplify use and to fine tune braking bias as needed.  All you need for the brake system is to make up the steel brake lines.

Interior:  Custom diamond plate aluminum interior, needs very minor finishing but all there.  I also have the original interior pieces from this truck that are in very nice shape.  They can go with the truck if requested as I have no use for them.  The seats are original bucket seats for a '78 Dodge Lil Red Express/Warlock.  Very nice shape for original, not all tore up, just minor wear.  Also included, overhead mounting box for CD player, floor mount emergency brake handle, aluminum floor pans, original transmission tunnel (floor and tunnel bolt in these trucks).  Door glass is original and in good useable condition, rear window and gasket are brand new.  The windshield frame was perfect with no rot, which is hard to find one in such good shape, it was bead blasted, repainted, brand new glass professionally installed and sealed, brand new windshield frame gasket, original regulator included, regulator still works.

Cooling system:  This truck has a brand new aluminum radiator fitted to the original rad support for use with the modern engine.  It has a Moroso inline fill neck, as well as a Zirgo 16" reversible electric fan, 3300cfm airflow.  There is also an aluminum automatic transmission cooler mounted to the radiator.

Body:  Body all done and painted except for the fenders.  All sheetmetal was blasted before refinishing.  The bed is not an original bed, but was fabricated from 1/8" plate to look like the original bed.  It uses the original rear Power Wagon fenders, which are included.  They are blasted to raw metal and are in excellent shape overall, would be very easy to finish for installation.  The front fenders are also blasted clean with all mounts removed prior to blasting.  All parts removed will obviously be included.  The front fenders need patches in the bottoms like most Power Wagon fenders do, but it is also an easy fix.  The inner fender panels are included and just need paint.  The rest of the body is primed and painted Toreador Red, single stage urethane.  Two small spots could need touched up on the bed, I have leftover paint I will include. Fabricated steel tailgate, skinned in aluminum diamond plate.  Aluminum diamond plate bedrail covers and stake pocket covers.  Diamond plate aluminum running boards, polished aluminum battery box.

I have other miscellaneous spare parts that go with this truck to aid completion.  Basically, whatever else I have for the truck will be included.  I will also include a brand new Saginaw counterclockwise rotation power steering box that is needed for power steering conversion if desired.

There was a lot of work in this truck to get it to this point.  All the hard and dirty work has been done, I have just lost interest in the project.  This is a very good deal for someone who wants to get into flatfender Power Wagons or someone who knows these trucks and is considering modifying one for everyday highway use.  And anyone who knows these trucks knows what it costs to convert these trucks to disc brakes, V-8 upgrade, power steering, and whatever else to operate safely at highway speeds.  Seriously interested buyers may contact Matt Maund (724) 554-4372 8AM-9PM EST with questions.

Terms of sale:  Vehicle must be paid for via cash or cashier check before title is transferred.  Buyer assumes all costs associated in transfer and titling, as well as transporting off premises.  No Paypal or credit cards.  Buyer is to contact me within 24 hours of purchase to arrange payment, title transfer, and pickup of the vehicle.  Sold as is, no warranties expressed or implied, all sales final.

2017 Challenger, Charger Hellcats recalled for catastrophic oil-line failure

Thu, Aug 24 2017

If you own a Hellcat, either a Charger or Challenger, built between Feb. 6, 2017, and May 30, 2017, you may want to consider parking it for a while. The reason for this is NHTSA officially acknowledged a recall from Chrysler for engine oil cooler lines that could fail, leading to major oil loss. Which of course could lead to severe engine damage. According to the recall information, the issue lies in the rubber used in the oil cooler line. Chrysler's testing revealed that the rubber didn't meet the company's criteria. As a result it was able to separate from a crimped aluminum portion of the line, letting oil spill out. The recall goes into effect on Sept. 22, which is when Chrysler will start reaching out to owners to alert them. The company will replace the oil cooler lines free of charge. Owners can call Chrysler's customer service at 1-800-853-1403 with any questions regarding the recall, which has the reference code "T48." Related Video:

The best cars we drove this year

Tue, Dec 30 2014

Six hundred and fifty. That's roughly how many cars pass through the hands of Autoblog editors every year, from the vehicles we test here at home, to the cars we drive on new product launches, testing roundups, long-term cars, and so on. Of course, our individual numbers vary due to several reasons, but at the end of the day, our team's repertoire of automotive experience is indeed vast. But let's be honest, some cars certainly stand out more than others. So as the year's about to turn, and as we're readying brand-new daily cat calendars for our cubicles, our editors are all taking time to reflect on the machinery that made this year so special, with one simple, open-ended question as the guide – a question that we're asked quite frequently, from friends, family, colleagues, and more. "What's the best car you drove this year?" Lamborghini Huracan When I review the list of everything I drove in 2014, picking an absolute favorite becomes almost impossible. I mean, how does one delineate between the joy offered by cars as different as the Alfa Romeo 4C, Volkswagen Golf R, Mercedes-AMG GT S and even the humble-yet-wonderful Chevy Colorado? Okay fine, I'll just pick the Lamborghini. I drove the Lamborghini Huracan LP 610-4 on a racetrack, in the mountains, and along southern coast of Spain. It felt like the king of the car jungle in all of those places, sucking the eyeballs of observers nearly out of their heads as it drove by, and almost melting my brain with its cocktail of speed and grip and intense communication. It feels a little easy to say that the one new supercar I drove this year was also my favorite, but the fact is that the Huracan is one of the finest cars I've driven during my career, let alone 2014. Judge me if you must. – Seyth Miersma Senior Editor Rolls-Royce Wraith There are a couple of ways to look at the question, "What's the best car you drove this year?" In terms of what was so good I'd go out and buy one tomorrow, that'd be my all-time sweetheart, the Volkswagen GTI. Or if I'm just talking about sheer cool-factor, maybe something like the Galpin GTR1, BMW i8, or Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG. But instead, I'm going to write about the sheer opulence of being the best of the best. The hand-crafted, holier-than-thou, shut-your-mouth-when-I'm-talking-to-you supremacy. I'm picking the Rolls-Royce Wraith. I drove the Wraith for a week in April, and was really, really impressed. This car does everything, perfectly.

2 men die in Dodge Challenger Hellcat crash at Colorado airport

Tue, Sep 12 2017

Two friends died in the crash of a Dodge Challenger Hellcat over the weekend after they shot off the end of an airport runway, authorities said. That someone died in a 707-horsepower Hellcat is, sadly, not unexpected. But two aspects of the story are remarkable. First, the men's ages: The Denver Post reports the crash victims were Lynd Fitzgerald, 71, of Colorado Springs, and his passenger, Roger Lichtenberger, 76, of San Marcos, Calif. Second, their speed: The car was likely moving at over 100 miles per hour, authorities said. The men had permission to use the 8,300-foot runway at Central Colorado Regional Airport in Buena Vista. That's more than a mile and a half long. But when the car left the runway, it went 300 feet before flying over a ravine, hitting the ground, becoming airborne again, flipping end over end across a second ravine, and ultimately landing on its wheels 650 feet past the end of the pavement. Responding police officers tried to provide first aid, but the men were declared dead at the scene. "They were just test-driving this car. They went a little too fast. I don't want to surmise. ... They probably got to the end of the runway and, at that speed, didn't realize they were there so fast. And they lost control. It was just too high a speed and they got to the end of the runway," said Chaffee County Sheriff John Spezze. There were skid marks near the end of the runway, but the sheriff didn't know the length. "I've never seen anything like it," Spezze told the newspaper. "They had permission to be there. There were no laws broken." Related Video:
