This is a 1979 Dodge Little Red Express. These trucks were made in 1978 and 1979 only. They had the fastest quarter mile time of any american made auto in 1978. Equipped with a 360 Interceptor motor, and a special trim package from Dodge, including exhaust stacks and wood trimmed box. These are real eye-catching trucks and a lot of fun to drive. This one needs to be loved. There's work to be done, but it'll be a great truck for someone. A restoration was begun on this truck at some point before it came to me, with some fairly professional looking floor and rocker work having been already done. This truck has been stored for several years now, but runs and can be driven around well enough to demonstrate that the transmission and engine are sound. The stock exhaust manifolds have been replaced with performance headers. THIS TRUCK RUNS. As visible in these pictures, there is rust on this truck. This truck has a clear New York State tittle and I can provide all the necessary papers for legal transfer of ownership. SRT reveals Satin Vapor Edition 300, Charger and Challenger SRT models
Fri, 07 Feb 2014With the exception of some notable truck and van introductions, Chrysler brands have tended to use the Chicago Auto Show to bring out new special editions, pimp their aftermarket parts support or indulge in the occasional flight of fancy. That plan is holding true for 2014, as well. Cases in point are these new Satin Vapor Editions of the 2014-model-year Dodge Challenger, Dodge Charger and Chrysler 300 - all from SRT.
The Satin Vapor name may sound like a failed 1970s glam-rock band, or a pseudo-gynecological diagnosis from the Old West, but is, in fact, pretty much a tape-and-trim package for this trio of hi-po Mopars. 300, Challenger and Charger alike come shod with 20-inch aluminum wheels finished in Black Satin Vapor Chrome, and are accented with Satin Black bits aplenty. The 300 gets blacked-out mirrors, spoiler and roof; the Challenger applies it to mirrors and its fuel door; while the Charger has the stuff covering its roof, hood and Super Bee tail graphic.
Interiors of the cars have been mildly updated as well, with all three getting some combination of Nappa leather, ultra-suede and carbon-fiberish finishes.
Chrysler investing $20M in Toledo plant to support 9-speed auto production
Sun, 28 Apr 2013In 2011, Chrysler announced a $72-million investment in its Toledo Machining Plant to modernize production of the eight- and nine-speed torque-converters for automatic transmissions made there. That upgrade work won't be finished until Q3 of this year, but Chrysler has already announced a further $19.6-million investment to increase production capacity for the nine-speeders.
The extra units will be necessary because the nine-speed transmission they'll be mated to is going into three popular models: it will debut on the 2014 Jeep Cherokee, then go into the Chrysler 200 and Dodge Dart. The company predicted that this year alone it would sell 200,000 units equipped with the nine-speed tranny, and it is spending some $374 million in addition to the investment in Toledo to upgrade production capacity for it.
The work attached to this new investment won't begin until Q3 of 2014, and it will be finished by the end of that year. There's a press release below with all the details.
2015 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat revealed [UPDATE]
Wed, 13 Aug 2014Almost immediately after we drove the 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat, we began wondering: what's next? Pumping 707 horsepower into the Challenger seemed so crazy - and so intoxicating - we just assumed that Dodge would try that trick again.
Rumors swirled about a Charger Hellcat. Frankly it makes even more sense than the Challenger version. The Charger is a bigger car, and Dodge has never been shy about dropping monster engines under its hood. Hell (cat), we've seen Charger mules running around town that appeared to be the super sedan.
And finally, it's here. The 2015 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat was revealed today at a preview event near Detroit, and it will be a centerpiece of the Chrysler display this weekend at the Woodward Dream Cruise.
