Hayward, California, United States
Vehicle Title:Rebuilt, Rebuildable & Reconstructed
Make: Dodge
Drive Type: four wheel drive
Model: Other Pickups
Mileage: 45,500
Trim: original
Barn find old Dodge Navy truck from a base in Northern California. Truck is complete less a couple items and is mostly unchanged and has only minor ham-handed damage.
Shows 45,500 original miles.
Has a 1950s Dodge engine in it. This was common, since the old ones let go quite a bit.
Will need a complete restoration. Was said to be running when parked. Not registered since 1956, included two original Ca. 1956 plates. Last driven about 20 years ago, was stored inside. Used on a ranch.
It has been a California truck all it's life. That is a good thing, for restoration.
This is an excellent winter project, most everything is here, and inexpensive rebuilding parts are available from many online suppliers.
The rare stuff--the seats, spare tire gear, engine crank, bed, tailgate, reflectors, etc. are all here.
Please look closely at the pictures, they tell the story.
The truck is not rotted at all and has only minor surface rust--no rust through, no thin metal. In other words, a perfect restoration candidate.
Missing--original coil, carb (has replacement carb), battery gone, glovebox door, glass, spare tire.
Cut off--the low skirting around the cab floor at the doors. This was commonly done.
The disclaimer: This truck, while an excellent restoration project and in great shape for what it is, shows the use and wear of it's 73 years of life. You can expect to see all sorts of wear, damage, surface rust and dents. This will need serious work. Please only bid on this truck if you understand that it is a fine old relic that will need extensive work, and that it comes without guarantees. Please come take a look or ask for more pictures. Just don't ask two hours before the auction closes.
I will not be taking returns on it. I am also not going to hide anything I know about it either, so ask questions before you bid.
The truck is located near Oakland, California, near San Francisco.
Sold with bill of sale and original pink from 1956.
Shipping is available from many online outfits. For example, I payed $1650 to have a truck shipped all the way across the states from the east coast. If you're closer, it will be much less.
I will meet the trucker and help load if you choose professional shipping. I can also deliver up to 500 miles for a fee.
Bid with confidence. This is a great old truck, a fairly easy restoration, and a perfect candidate for the job.
I will accept several form of payment. Bank transfer is best, cash in person is great also. Personal checks will take some time to clear, as will cashier checks and money orders. Best to expect two weeks for these. The truck will not be released until we are way, way sure the money order or check was not printed in someones garage.
25% is due within 48 hours of the auction close, the remainder in three days.
Please do not bid unless you have money-in-hand. I will not accept promises about the next paycheck.
The truck can stay here after full payment for up to 30 days, after that it needs to go.
Thanks for your interest.

Ram to go on a Rampage with new small pickup?
Wed, 16 Jul 2014When people look back at today's automotive industry, what do you think they'll remember us for? The emergence of hybrids? Ever more expensive and exotic supercars? The dawn of the self-driving car? All likely scenarios, but so is the blurring of lines between one bodystyle and another, giving rise to hardtop convertible coupes and crossovers of every shape and size. But one bodystyle the North American auto industry has stayed largely away from in the past couple of decades is a car nose and chassis with a pickup bed.
It's a bodystyle immortalized by the Chevrolet El Camino, but with few exceptions, we haven't seen too many of these automotive platypuses in recent years on our turf. Subaru tried with the Baja and the low-volume Honda Ridgeline soldiers along largely unchanged, but the genre's biggest adherents are still Down Under, where ute versions of the Holden Commodore and Ford Falcon live. With a few other examples scattered to the four corners of the earth, that's really about it. But if these spy shots are anything to go by, it looks like Fiat Chrysler Automobiles could be working to bring it back.
Spied undergoing testing in Michigan, what we appear to be looking at is a heavily disguised Fiat Strada being prepared - like the Fiat Ducato-based Ram ProMaster and the smaller Doblo-based ProMaster City - for Stateside duty as a Ram product. The Strada, for those unfamiliar, is a product of Fiat Automóveis in Brazil and is based on the Palio economy car. The nameplate has been around South America since 1996 and was originally designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro (long before Volkswagen monopolized his talents), and takes a more rugged approach in the form of the Strada Adventure.
Stellantis reveals STLA Large platform with EV and ICE support
Fri, Jan 19 2024Hot on the heels of a Jeep Wagoneer S teaser and photos of the prototype next-generation Dodge Charger (or Challenger), comes a reveal and details of what will likely underpin both of them: the STLA Large platform. It's one of multiple Stellantis flexible architectures that will be the basis of its upcoming electric cars, and apparently internal combustion ones, too. Stellantis says the STLA Large platform will be for D- and E-segment cars, crossovers and SUVs. In other words, it will be for midsize and large vehicles. For reference, lengths supported will be from 187.6 to 201.8 inches, and width will range from 74.7 to 79.9 inches. It will be highly flexible, too, with Stellantis claiming significant amounts of adjustability in overhangs, wheelbase, suspension placement and powertrain arrangement. The powertrain flexibility is quite impressive. Front-, rear- and all-wheel-drive layouts will be supported. Single- and dual-motor layouts will be on offer. Internal combustion will be available, too, either on its own or as a hybrid. Apparently engines can be fitted either longitudinally or transversely, too. Battery packs with between 85 and 118 kWh of capacity will be offered, with Stellantis claiming that sedan-style vehicles could have a range of up to 500 miles. The packs will also be available in 400- and 800-volt designs. Stellantis noted also that the platform can "easily accept future energy storage technologies when they reach production readiness." This seems to hint that the company is looking at different battery chemistries and maybe even solid-state batteries that could be added more easily in the future. Furthermore, the platform is designed to handle impressive output. Stellantis says that some models on the platform will have 0-to-62 mph times in the 2-second range. Limited-slip differentials for improved power delivery and wheel-end disconnects for reduced mechanical drag are also on the table for this platform. All of these details fit well with the information previously given for the concept Dodge Charger Daytona Banshee and Jeep Wagoneer S. The former was previewed with both battery voltage architectures and a wide range of electric powertrains with between 456 and 670 horsepower depending on specification and upgrades. And that's just for the 400-volt system; the 800-volt option wasn't detailed. We've also seen photos of the Charger chassis seemingly with provisions for gas engines, likely versions of the Hurricane I6.
Chrysler recalling 780k minivans over fire risk
Fri, 09 May 2014Chrysler is recalling 780,000 of its Town & Country and Dodge Grand Caravan minivans from the 2010 to 2014 model years due to the possibility of circuits overheating, which can lead to a fire. Of the 780,000 total vans being recalled, Chrysler estimates that 644,850 are in the US, 106,980 are in Canada, 8,009 are in Mexico, and 20,638 are in other markets. All of the affected vehicles were built between August 25, 2010 and October 31, 2013.
Chrysler's engineers discovered that beverage spills or exposure to moisture (from rain, snow, car washes, and the like) were linked to circuits shorting in the window switch assembly. Short circuits can overheat, and thus, cause a fire.
Chrysler will contact owners and let them know when they may schedule service, at which point, the window switches will be replaced. In the interim, the automaker says that owners may visit their dealers after May 14 to have the switches disconnected.
