A real one of a kind; I will venture to say a person would be hard pressed to find a handful like this in the country. This vehicle is in overall excellent condition and has been well cared for. It starts easy - drives very well - interior is very nice - and exterior is overall nice for vehicle's originality and age. Definitely would be a great deer hunting rig or off-road'er as it is but I believe it can become much more... a good body repair guy could make this a really sweet ride.  The 318 cid V8 - NP435 4 Speed Manual Transmission - CAD Dana 44 axle - 106" Wheelbase powertrain configuration is virtually impossible to find on one vehicle and is popular for rock crawling enthusiasts.

Vehicle condition: I tried to include a lot of "tell all" pictures that show vehicle's true state of condition - I will try to put it in words...

The engine starts easy - appears to be original - does not smoke - is dry underneath - has good power. AC and smog systems appear to be intact. Carburetor appears to be well tuned - not running rich or lean;  but it does have a fast idle that may be result of vacuum leak or require adjustment.

The transmission shifts out smoothly - clutch appears to be good - engages as it should - no sign if slippage.

Drivetrain is very solid - 4 wheel drive engages and disengages when transferred. No slack can be heard or felt in drivelines or front axles. There is a very small amount of slack in steering wheel - it drives straight and does not road walk. The replaceable shoes between steering shaft and gearbox most likely are to blame - very common and inexpensive to replace.

The interior is in very good condition. The driver seat has wear in lower cushion but sits well.  The rest are very nice. Power door locks work. Power windows work. Rear hatch shuts easy as do doors. Center console is in good condition. Carpet has a few stains but is in excellent condition for its age. Dash is tight and rattle free. The odometer is showing 71k miles, I do not have any documentation to reflect it as actual.

Exterior is in overall good condition but will be the biggest area for attention. The lower quarters in front of and behind of rear wheels has rusted through because of sustained buildup - it does appear to be localized - no sign of rust in bottom of doors, floor pans, or bottom of bedsides... I tried to show this in pictures - the underneath has good ol' oklahoma red clay but is rust free other than on surface of exposed undercarriage. The bedsides on driver and passenger side have dents in nearly same spot. The hood has hail dents and so does top of cab but not as noticeable. The rear bumper is aftermarket and does show chrome peeling. All glass appear to be in good condition. All chrome trim appear to be in place other than ram ornament on hood. The tires have good rubber and wheels appear to be in good condition. Again, I believe this vehicle is a good solid rarity worthy restoration. But if you are one of the ones looking for a weekend deer hunting vehicle, slap on some or just drive it as is and head for the woods.

Please let me know if I can answer any questions for you that I may not have answered in the text. This vehicle is available for local test drives and 3rd party inspections. Full size pictures can be sent to those that request by email. I can pick you up at local airport or help with shipping quotes.

It is for sale locally at 3,995.00. The auction reserve is set at $3,500. I reserve the right to end auction early due to an on the spot purchase... BUT to be fair to out of area buyers, if auction reserve is met; I will require home town buyers to bid through auction, and vehicle WILL SELL to highest bidder.

Thank you.

Dodge brings Charger Widebody 'concept' to Spring Fest

Sun, Mar 24 2019

Last week we asked if an Instagram user had really seen a Dodge Charger Widebody cruising suburban Detroit. The answer is yes, he had. Dodge brought its Charger Widebody concept to Spring Fest 14, a celebration of everything built on Chrysler's LX platform. Note the use of the word "concept," and a Fiat Chrysler spokesperson telling journos, "We are taking a Charger design concept to Spring Fest to gauge feedback from the huge Dodge Charger, Challenger, and Chrysler 300 enthusiast base that attends the California event each year." Mark Trostle, head of design for Dodge and SRT, shared a few snaps of the Charger Widebody to Instagram. This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. Manage Settings. Now ignore the word "concept." Of course a thing isn't done until it's done, but two years ago a thread on Charger Forums mused on a Photoshop of the sedan as a widebody. User ResumeSpeed chimed in to say, "Rear is not accurate as it's being revised. 2020 model year. Two Charger WB models: Hellcat and 392 Scat Pack." Fast forward to February of this year when Mopar Insider said its sources confirmed a thick-hipped Charger R/T Scat Pack and Hellcat with "drastically different looking front and rear fascias." Then, earlier this month, Allpar received a slide from what looks like an internal Dodge presentation explaining the "2020 Dodge Charger Hellcat Wide Body." The sedan in the slide looks almost exactly like the "concept." And now this. They even designed it with the Dodge Durango SRT grille treatment, which seems like a logical part of that 2020 revision. Giving the Charger a nip and tuck, a little more tire, and a $6,000 surcharge similar to the Challenger Widebody makes too much sense to merely toy with and then file away. Check out this video for a complete walkaround, and stay tuned.

Junkyard Gem: 1994 Dodge Caravan with manual transmission

Tue, Jul 4 2017

The K Platform saved Chrysler from certain doom after the company's 1979 bailout by the federal government, and one of the most successful K-based vehicles was the one that spawned the American minivan craze in 1984: the original Dodge Caravan/Plymouth Voyager. Built all the way through the 1995 model year, these K-Caravans or K-Voyagers could be purchased with a four- or five-speed manual transmission, but just a handful were sold that way. Here's an extraordinarily rare late 5-speed example, spotted in a San Francisco Bay Area wrecking yard. The shifter location is a little awkward, requiring the driver to reach back a bit more than would be the case in, say, a Dodge Shadow (which shared the same powertrain). It's too bad that Chrysler never offered these vans with five-on-the-tree manuals. Even though plenty of Mitsubishi-V6-powered front-wheel-drive Chryslers of the late 1980s and early 1990s were available with manual transmissions (e.g., the Chrysler Laser/Dodge Daytona or the Plymouth Sundance/Dodge Shadow), Chrysler minivan shoppers who wanted a stickshift had to take the four-cylinder engine (either a Chrysler 2.2/2.5 or, in the early years, a Mitsubishi 2.6 Astron). This one has the naturally-aspirated 2.5-liter engine that went into so many Plymouth Acclaims and Chrysler LeBarons. In 1995, it was rated at 100 horsepower, which made for stately acceleration with a full load of passengers. For the 1989 and 1990 model years, a 150-horse turbocharged Chrysler 2.5 with 5-speed was the high-performance minivan setup... and you should let us know if you find a factory-built one. This is only the second example of a manual-trans-equipped 1990s Chrysler minivan I have found in the junkyard (the first was this '93 Voyager), and both vans were lightly-optioned El Cheapo models with cloth seats and hand-crank windows; the manual transmission was a bit cheaper than the automatic in those days. At least this one has air conditioning. This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. Manage Settings. 2025 SRT Hellcat concepts as previewed by high schoolers

Thu, Jan 21 2016

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles has some very talented designers in its ranks. Like any good company, though, the automaker is always on the lookout for early talent. Even if they're still in high school. One of those talent-seeking initiatives is the company's Drive for Design contest, an event open to tenth-, eleventh-, and twelfth-grade students that are hoping for a future in design. For this year's event, students from across the country were given a shot to design their vision for a 2025 model-year Dodge SRT Hellcat. The results are impressive, as you can see in the gallery above. First place went to Ben Treinen, from Archbishop Moeller High School in Cincinnati. Second place was the only award to go to a student outside the Rust Belt, with Macon, GA's Harrison Kunselman, a student at Mount de Sales Academy taking the silver. Third place was won by a metro Detroiter – Bloomfield Hills High School student Hwanseong Jang, while fourth went to Andrew Gombac of Loyola Academy in Wilmette, IL. According to FCA, all four winners will have their sketches on display at the 2016 Autorama at Cobo Center at the end of February. They'll also win some pretty nifty prizes. First place will get a new Apple MacBook Pro, while second, third, and fourth get the new Apple iPad Pro and Apple Pencil (arguably just as good of a prize for budding designers). All four finishers will also attend a three-week automotive design course at Detroit's prestigious College for Creative Studies, have dinner with FCA designers, and score three passes to Autorama. FCA will cover travel and lodging to Auburn Hills. Read on for the official blast from FCA. Related Video: FCA US Design Team Announces Winners of Drive for Design Contest January 19, 2016 , Auburn Hills, Mich. - The FCA US LLC Design team today announced four winners in this year's Drive for Design contest. The FCA US Drive for Design contest challenged U.S. high school students in grades 10-12 to design a Dodge SRT Hellcat for the year 2025. "The Drive for Design contest continues to be a great way for the FCA US Design team to connect with students that show an interest in art and design," said Mark Trostle – Head of Dodge and SRT Design, FCA US LLC.
