I've decided to sell my 2005 Dodge SRT-4 (no trades). I'm selling the car to focus my efforts on a project car that I'm building to be my daily driver. I'm the original owner of the car, having purchased it new in July 2005, and I still have the original window sticker and owner's manuals, as well as the extra coded ignition key that came with the car. The car has just over 81,600 miles, and is in excellent condition. The paint does have a few spots where it isn't perfect (parts of the hood and trunk, just under the passenger windows - see pictures), which is common with this generation of SRT-4s. The car fires right up, has excellent power, and averages 23 MPG in the city and 28-30 MPG on the highway. With the exception of a K&N air filter and upgraded ignition wires and spark plugs, the engine is (and always has been) completely stock. All oil changes have been made with fully synthetic 5W30, either Mobil 1 or Royal Purple. The only modifications to the car are:
(1) Custom 3" exhaust that was built and installed by Ed Hanson's Muffler Service (Spring Valley)
(2) Vogtland lowering springs (1.6" front and rear)
(3) Kyowa Racing 18" x 7.5" wheels (Kumho Ecsta ASX 225/40r18 tires (est. 70% front/50% rear)
(4) Maddog short-throw shifter (50% throw reduction)
The car is completely smog legal (the exhaust is cat-back). I had it dynoed before I had the exhaust done, and it put 209 HP and 240 lb/ft of torque to the wheels. I've taken the car on some back-country roads, but it has never been raced. I don't get right on it before the car is warmed up, and I always let the turbo cool down before shutting the car off.
The car has a Python 900 pager alarm and a full aftermarket stereo system. The head unit is a Pioneer DEH-P7100BT with XM radio controls, fully integrated Bluetooth capability, and a very convenient steering wheel-mounted wireless remote. The speakers in the doors and rear deck are PHD (http://www.phd.it/welcome_to/index.asp), and the dash speakers and 10" sub are Hertz Audio. An Orion 6002 amp is powering the sub, an Orion 4002 amp is powering the speakers in the doors and the rear deck, and the head unit is powering the dash speakers.
The interior is in mint condition. There are no rips or stains in the seats, the dash is perfect, and there is only minor wear on the steering wheel. The only other issues with the car are that it could use a new windshield (2' crack from top of passenger side - easily driveable but worth replacing), and the sunroof has been acting up a bit. The sunroof opens fine, but is tempermental when closing.
This is a fun and practical car that still gets a lot of compliments. For a reasonable offer on the car, I'll throw in a custom-fit car cover ($250 new) and an Apexi turbo timer ($100-120 new) that I never got around to having installed. PLEASE SEND ANY QUESTIONS ABOUT THE CAR TO THE E-MAIL LISTED ABOVE.

Junkyard Gem: 1994 Dodge Caravan with manual transmission
Tue, Jul 4 2017The K Platform saved Chrysler from certain doom after the company's 1979 bailout by the federal government, and one of the most successful K-based vehicles was the one that spawned the American minivan craze in 1984: the original Dodge Caravan/Plymouth Voyager. Built all the way through the 1995 model year, these K-Caravans or K-Voyagers could be purchased with a four- or five-speed manual transmission, but just a handful were sold that way. Here's an extraordinarily rare late 5-speed example, spotted in a San Francisco Bay Area wrecking yard. The shifter location is a little awkward, requiring the driver to reach back a bit more than would be the case in, say, a Dodge Shadow (which shared the same powertrain). It's too bad that Chrysler never offered these vans with five-on-the-tree manuals. Even though plenty of Mitsubishi-V6-powered front-wheel-drive Chryslers of the late 1980s and early 1990s were available with manual transmissions (e.g., the Chrysler Laser/Dodge Daytona or the Plymouth Sundance/Dodge Shadow), Chrysler minivan shoppers who wanted a stickshift had to take the four-cylinder engine (either a Chrysler 2.2/2.5 or, in the early years, a Mitsubishi 2.6 Astron). This one has the naturally-aspirated 2.5-liter engine that went into so many Plymouth Acclaims and Chrysler LeBarons. In 1995, it was rated at 100 horsepower, which made for stately acceleration with a full load of passengers. For the 1989 and 1990 model years, a 150-horse turbocharged Chrysler 2.5 with 5-speed was the high-performance minivan setup... and you should let us know if you find a factory-built one. This is only the second example of a manual-trans-equipped 1990s Chrysler minivan I have found in the junkyard (the first was this '93 Voyager), and both vans were lightly-optioned El Cheapo models with cloth seats and hand-crank windows; the manual transmission was a bit cheaper than the automatic in those days. At least this one has air conditioning. This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. Manage Settings. Consumer Reports says Ram 1500 tops fuel economy fight [w/video]
Wed, Aug 27 2014Consumer Reports takes its independent vehicle testing procedures seriously. In an era when we have to question the EPA's official ratings thanks to recent re-evaluations from Ford and Hyundai, an independent voice is important. So, when CR says something is the best, it's worth paying attention to. The Ram 1500 EcoDiesel has "about the same fuel-economy numbers that we typically see in a midsized SUV." – Jake Fisher In this case, CR took a look at the fuel economy of the 2014 Ram 1500 EcoDiesel and found that it came out on top of the fullsize pickup truck pack. The Ram did so with 20 miles per gallon overall and 27 mpg on the highway. CR gave the truck a total road test score of 82. The EPA says that the EcoDiesel 1500 gets 28 mpg on the highway, 20 mpg city and 23 mpg combined. Comparing official EPA numbers, the Ram is also the best among trucks in its class. It's nice when people agree on something. As we know from first-hand, long-distance experience, you can push the 1500 EcoDiesel to 38 mpg. CR found in its own testing that the truck had, "about the same fuel-economy numbers that we typically see in a midsized SUV," said Jake Fisher, CR's director of automotive testing, in a statement. Speaking of midsized SUVs, CR also announced this week that the new Toyota Highlander Hybrid got the top spot in CR's ratings in that category. CR liked pretty much everything about the SUV, saying that the "transitions between electric power and the gas engine are seamless" and that, "the new Highlander also handles better, with a steadier ride and reduced body lean in corners." You can find more at the CR website, in the October print issue of Consumer Reports or in the video and press release below. This content is hosted by a third party. RAM ECODIESEL 1500 TOPS CONSUMER REPORTS FULL-SIZE PICKUP TRUCK RATINGS Redesigned Toyota Highlander Hybrid Climbs to Top of Midsized SUV List Yonkers, N.Y.- The Ram 1500 EcoDiesel climbed to the top of Consumer Reports' full-size pickup truck ratings with an impressive performance in the organization's fuel economy tests. The EcoDiesel (82 point overall road test score) turned in a best-in-class fuel economy of 20 mpg overall and 27 mpg on the highway, to help it score better than the previously tested Ram 1500 V8 (81) regular gas version and Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LT (80).
Dodge Challenger Shakedown: '71 body, new guts
Tue, Nov 1 2016While Jeep has created a number of vintage-bodied custom vehicles with modern components, this year's SEMA show plays host to Dodge's take on the idea. The Shakedown concept began life as a 1971 Challenger and ditched almost everything in it, including the engine and chassis. What's left is a modern car with a retro look. The chassis was a particularly complicated part of the job, since the Challenger was originally a unibody car. However, Dodge chose to separate the Challenger's iconic body from its structural parts, and moved it onto a custom, one-off chassis from which the body can be removed as needed. The chassis also carries lowered suspension, Challenger Hellcat brakes, and a 6.4-liter 392 Hemi V8 connected to a six-speed manual transmission from the Viper. Dodge also installed the engine using the new Hemi engine swap kit from Mopar. With the shaker cold-air intake and custom exhaust, the Shakedown's powerplant makes 485 horsepower. View 13 Photos The body itself received plenty of tweaking as well. Dodge shaved off the drip rails, door handles, and turn signals for a cleaner look, and also fitted the grille, headlights, and taillights from a 2017 Challenger. The whole thing is finished in matte black paint with a "vibrating" stripe offset on the left side. The Shakedown also gets 20-inch Slingshot rear wheels and a pair of custom 19-inch versions for the front. On each fender is a bright red "392" decal that uses the same font as the labels on classic Mopars 360 cubic-inch V8s. Inside, the Shakedown gets the same radical upgrade as the chassis. Two Viper seats accompany a Viper steering wheel, and the rear seats are gone altogether. The Viper gearbox is shifted with a Challenger Hellcat gear knob, and carbon-fiber accents and leather adorn the wheel, door panels, instrument panel and center console.
