1973 Dodge Dart Swinger 2-Door HT. Slant six, auto. Disc brakes on front, drum on rear so lug pattern is the bigger 5 on 4 1/2 so wheel selection is endless. Tires on it are in great shape at 80% plus tread left. Also have the original Dart hubcaps that will be included. Car runs and drives good. Does not smoke, no ticking lifters, everything works. Has new exhaust system from the exhaust manifold all the way out the back with I believe a magna flow muffler which sounds really good. Glass is all good, no fogging around edges of windshield, body has a few minor bumps but nothing requiring panel changes. The trim piece on the front header panel above the grille is dinged as well as headlight bezels but I have very nice pieces to replace all of those that are included. Floors are solid and clean, Door strikers perfect, trunk has some minor surface rust but will clean up easily. Vinyl top good but has the seam sealer deteriorating where the roof connects at the c-pillars. Original carpet good but needs cleaned, no holes or rips, rear seat and door panels very nice, front door panels are nice other than the speakers that are in them. Dash pad and headliner very decent, only imperfections in the front seat is pictured. All interior is original. It does have a pioneer cd player mounted under dash so the original radio and dash trim remains original. All 4 speakers are also pioneer and actually sound good. It is wired for an amp and sub in the trunk so one could be installed in just a few minutes. Just because the no reserve opening bid is low does not mean car has hidden issues, I got a good deal on it so just passing it on. I will answer one question I get asked a lot. I cannot honestly assure this car will make it driving cross country. It is an old car and I have not owned it since new. Me personally would never drive any car this old cross no matter what but that's me. |

What does Jeep have cooking with this stretched Cherokee?
Mon, Feb 15 2016Chrysler has been spotted testing what appears to be a stretched Jeep Cherokee prototype. Which seems odd, considering that Jeep already makes a Grand Cherokee, and that's an entirely different model. The question then is just what the company has in the works here. We don't know for sure – but we do have some ideas. We're anticipating a new Grand Wagoneer to serve as the brand's flagship model, but stretching the Cherokee's wheelbase to leapfrog the Grand Cherokee's would take more than eight inches – and stretching a "compact" platform to get there wouldn't seem to make a lot of sense. Alternatively Jeep could be looking to wedge a new model into its lineup in between the Cherokee and Grand Cherokee, potentially offering a third row of seats and wearing the Wagoneer name - sans the "Grand" - as part of a new range of seven-seaters. Just what the point would be, however, when the Dodge Durango already offers three rows based on the same platform as the Grand Cherokee, is a bit of a mystery. Another possibility is that it's not a Jeep at all, but rather a Dodge. The brand is in need of a replacement for the current Journey, and we're also waiting to see what FCA does to replace the Grand Cherokee since it unveiled the Chrysler Pacifica to replace the Town and Country. More of a crossover approach could take the Cherokee's Compact US Wide (CUSW) platform as its starting point, but stretched like this prototype to offer more space. Whatever it is, we're sure this won't be the last we'll have seen of it, so watch this space. Related Video:
Old vs. New: 2014 SRT Viper takes on upgraded 16-year-old Dodge Viper
Fri, 08 Feb 2013It's easy to play the "Would you rather have a New X or an Old Y with a bunch of upgrades?" game more often than we care to admit, but the crew at Car and Driver have taken bench racing to the next level with their latest video. In it, the magazine pits a brand-new 2014 SRT Viper against a highly modified 1997 Dodge Viper GTS. There are 16 years between the time this particular GTS rolled off the production line and when the new car bowed, but that doesn't mean the old snake's owners have been sitting on their hands.
Thanks to a spate of modifications, the GTS offers up a better power to weight ratio than the new machine, but is that enough to overcome the technological leap forward represented by the 2014 Viper? We won't spoil it for you. You'll just have to check out the full clip below for yourself.
Junkyard Gem: This 1987 Dodge 600 SE Sedan is suspiciously Benz-ish
Wed, Feb 28 2018The K Platform, introduced for the 1981 model year, saved Chrysler from certain bankruptcy. By 1983, a stretched-out K chassis had been developed; the Chrysler version was the E-Class, while Dodge had the 600. These cars have become all but extinct now, so this '87 600 sedan in a Denver-area wrecking yard is a noteworthy Junkyard Gem. Ford explicitly compared the appearance of the late-1970s Granada to that of the Mercedes-Benz W123 in their advertising, and so the ground was broken for Chrysler to make the allusions to Stuttgart machinery even more obvious a few years later. The name of the Chrysler E-Class was about as subtle as a tire iron blow to the kidneys, and the badging on its Dodge 600 sibling left little to the imagination. 600s came from the factory with several variations of the Chrysler 2.2/2.5 engine, as well as the Mitsubishi "Hemi 2.6" four-cylinder. This car has the 2.5 Chrysler engine, rated at 97 horsepower. Base price was $10,553, about $23,500 in 2017 dollars (the cheapest new Mercedes-Benz E-Class cost $38,600 in 1987, so there wasn't much customer overlap between the two cars). The 600s weren't bad cars for the price, though the build quality wasn't quite up to Mercedes-Benz standards. You'll find this thumbtack treatment on most K-Car headliners that still drive today. The interior is all tan and brown, with plenty of tough industro-velour upholstery and not-so-convincing artificial wood. Aluminum-faced home audio equipment was all the rage during the 1980s, and the trend spread to automotive controls. No cassette in this car, but at least it had AM and FM radio (even plain old mono AM radios were still expensive options on many cars as late as 1987, so the standard AM/FM stereo rig in the 600 was an attractive deal).
