Up for sale is a 1968 Hemi Dart "tribute." I bought this car out of Canada with most of the body work done and the engine in it. The car didn't have a whole lot of documentation with it but I didn't care because I wanted a 1968 Super Stock Hemi Dart very much but could not afford a real one so I started with someone else's project. It started as a slant six car and was stripped down for body work and the installation of the 426 Hemi(bored .030 over) with street hemi cast iron heads. That's when I bought the car as a driver I cut the rear wheel wells to match the 1968 cars as well as redoing the interior to match the original super stock cars. The engine I assume was a crate engine and it runs very strong. I had a little shop in Montana when I bought the car and my business partner/mechanic and I went through the top end when we tore it down to switch the intake from the single plane, single carb setup that was on it when I bought it, to the magnesium cross ram with dual Holleys on it just like the original cars that we put on. We found a nice solid engine but that is about as far as I can go on it. It runs very nicely and has very low mileage. I wish I had more info on the Hemi but I never expected to be selling it and our plan was to rebuild it to race Hemi specs but alas life happened and I no longer have a shop and I now live in Pennsylvania(I married my college girlfriend!) I am willing to sell this car very inexpensively so that I can finish another car I am working on. The car is for sale locally so listing may close at any time. message me with any questions. Car has 4.56 gears in a Dana 60 rear end. Has a TCI Street Fighter 727 automatic/manual shift transmission. Front drums have been swapped out for disk brakes. Front fenders and hood are "race weight" fiberglass. Original cars had heavier fiberglass pieces.

SRT back to Dodge, Dart SRT, new Challenger, Charger and Caravan's death outlined in 5-yr plan
Tue, 06 May 2014The onslaught of news from Fiat Chrysler's layout of five-year plans continued with Dodge CEO Tim Kuniskis this morning, including the unexpected announcement that SRT was coming back into the fold.
After just a few years existing as an independent entity within the Fiat Chrysler universe, an unceremonious press release hit in conjunction with today's lineup of announcements, saying "the SRT family of vehicles will be consolidated under the Dodge brand." Group CEO Sergio Marchionne thanked SRT headman Ralph Gilles for his dedication to the high-performance wing, calling out is efforts in expanding the vehicle lineup and including more customized models. He did not reference disappointing SRT Viper sales today, but we sense there's a bit of subtext.
With the SRT reunion at Dodge, it's appropriate that some of the most exciting product announcements for the next five years have to do with upcoming performance products. First out of the gate will be a refresh for that flagging Viper in 2015, which comes as little surprise.
Dodge Dart Mopar '13 special edition recalled over airbag woes
Mon, 09 Dec 2013Dodge is only building 500 examples of the black-and-blue Mopar '13 Dart, but the majority of them are now being recalled. Part of the Mopar upgrade included replacing the stock seat skins in the Dart with black and blue Katzkin leather, but the seat-mounted side airbags were reinstalled improperly during the upfitting process, which could affect the performance of the front seat side airbags.
According to the official National Highway Traffic Safety Administration bulletin, a total of 374 Mopar '13 cars are being recalled due to side airbags that might not deploy in a side-impact collision. There have been no reports of the airbags not going off, but Chrysler will still need to reinstall the bags to ensure proper deployment. The recall notice is posted below, which gives information for Mopar '13 owners to contact Chrysler and NHTSA.
Why the Charger Hellcat can't be ordered with a manual transmission
Sun, 16 Nov 2014Fans of truly irreverent amounts of horsepower will find lots to love in the form of the 2015 Dodge Challenger and Charger Hellcat models. Both of them send 707 ridiculous horsepower to the rear wheels; the only question is whether you want your absurdity delivered with two or four doors. Oh, and whether or not you want the option of a manual transmission.
If you prefer rowing your own gears, the choice is made for you; there is no manual gearbox option available on the Charger Hellcat, or any Charger model at all, for that matter. Wonder why? Well, besides the fact that almost nobody - sorry, clutch fans, but it's true - would choose to buy a Charger with a manual transmission, that is? The answer, according to an industry insider in a post written on Jalopnik's Opposite Lock forum, is the floorpan.
It's probably not a surprise to most of our readers that the Dodge Challenger and Charger share a large portion of their chassis structure, which is codenamed LX at Chrysler, but there are still some significant differences under the skin due to the shorter wheelbase and two-door coupe bodyshell of the Challenger, as opposed to the sedan shape of the Charger. One of the differences is the floorpan, the huge chunk of sheetmetal that makes up the floor of the car and props up such essential items as the car's seats.
