1968 Dodge Dart Base 5.2l on 2040-cars
San Diego, California, United States
Selling my 1968 Dodge Dart. This is a GREAT car, I love this thing! Very awesome muscle car, super fun with a great look. This isn't your grandmas Dart from the late 60's, this is one bad boy, flat black paint job with a rear red racing stripe lets it be known that this thing means business and it ain't afraid to get dirty!
Equipped with a '70 block 318 V8 (pre smog set up) with an edelbrock performer intake manifold and a edelbrock 1405 600cfm 4 barrel carburetor, going out to long tube Heddman Headers connected to dual glasspak mufflers for that old school sound. It has the famous Mopar A-883 4-speed transmission, great strong tranny here with a hurst shifter, you can almost say this is where all the fun is ;) shifts great! The rear end is 8 1/4 3.55 sure grip, good streetable gear ratio, keeps your RPMs just under 3,000 while doing about 75 on the freeway, and with the sure grip your leaving 2 tire marks for your burnouts and doing some great donuts, no peg leg here! Front end of car was upgraded with the better suspension, k-member and DISC brakes of a 1973 Plymouth Duster. Giving you better handling, better braking, better k-member for V8s. Also has smooth feeling manual steering box out of the 73 Duster with the 73 steering column to go to the matching box. Drives great feels like power steering, won't even notice it's manual steering. All suspension was redone with the PST front end suspension kits and Moog. Has all new brake system, calipers, master cylinder, lines, etc... Rear end drum brakes were rebuilt and differential was gone through, the rear end is also out of a 73 Duster. Cool comfortable front buckets seats with head rest, new headliner, carpet... Mounted Tachometer, new electrical temp gauge and gas gauge (gives you good accurate readings) this car stays COOL!!! Never had an issue with this car overheating, not once!! Stays at a solid 160-170, NEVER MORE! Interior is decent, doesn't really look bad, could use a LITTLE love, but for a daily driver it's perfectly fine! Runs and drives great!! I'm estimating about 300 Hp from this 318. My favorite thing about this car is it starts up by the turn of a key after it's morning warm up. Just like a modern car, no gas pumping or holding, priming the carb with fuel, just simple turn the key and on. This car was completely gone through front to back, so much of this car is brand new! This was my project car that was purchased about a year ago, and I worked on this thing day and night for countless hours, buying this car pretty much as a parts car and turning it into what you see today. Here are links to some videos of the car. First one is a great cruising video of having some fun in the car http://youtu.be/jClCBsa0hhU Next link is a walk around of the car http://youtu.be/_KE7wJdgems Other link is the photos documenting the restoration http://youtu.be/Q4zNy2M8Slc Check out the links great videos, included in the sell I will include a list of parts in the vehicle (that's sometimes half the battle with an old car), photos of the resto. This is a great car, get in this thing and drive!! Car is registered, has insurance, and title on hand. Shipping can be made at buyers cost. Or local pick-up. |

Cold start comparison: 2020 Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio vs. 2013 Dodge Challenger SRT8
Thu, May 7 2020The 2020 Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio is a five-seat, compact luxury sport sedan packing 505 horsepower thanks to a 2.9-liter twin-turbocharged V6. My personal 2013 Dodge Challenger SRT8 392 is ... well ... not. It's a full-sized muscle coupe whose iron-block 6.4-liter V8 makes 470 hp in the very traditional way: it's freakin' huge, like everything else about the car. On paper, these two have nothing in common beyond the fact that they were built by the same multi-national manufacturing entity. But if paper were the be-all and end-all of automotive rankings, everybody would buy the same car. And we don't, especially as enthusiasts. Whether it's looks or tuning or vague "intangibles" or something as simple as the way a car sounds, we often put a priority on the things that trigger our emotions rather than setting out to simply buy whatever the "best" car is at that particular moment. So, what do these two have in common? They both sound really, really good. Like looks, sounds are subjective. While a rubric most assuredly exists in the world of marketing (attraction is as much a science as any other human response), we have no way of objectively scoring the beauty of either of these cars, and the same applies to the qualities of the sound waves being emitted through their tail pipes. But we can measure how loud they are. In fact, there's even an app for that. Dozens, as it turns out. So, I picked one at random that recorded peak loudness levels, and set off to conduct an entirely pointless and only vaguely scientific experiment with the two cars that happened to be in my garage at the same time. For the test, I opened up a window and cracked the garage door (so as not to inflict carbon monoxide poisoning upon myself in the name of discovery), and then placed my phone on a tripod behind the center of each car's trunk lid. I fired each one up and let the app do the rest. I then placed my GoPro on top of the trunk for each test so that I could review the video afterward for any anomalies. I started with the Challenger. The 6.4-liter Hemi under the hood of this big coupe is essentially the same lump found under the hood of quite a few Ram pickups, and it has the accessories to prove it. Its starter is loud and distinctive. Almost as loud, it turns out, as the exhaust itself. As its loud pew-pew faded behind the V8's barking cold start, we recorded a peak of 83.7 decibels. In the app's judgment, that's roughly the equivalent of a busy street.
Consumer Reports says Ram 1500 tops fuel economy fight [w/video]
Wed, Aug 27 2014Consumer Reports takes its independent vehicle testing procedures seriously. In an era when we have to question the EPA's official ratings thanks to recent re-evaluations from Ford and Hyundai, an independent voice is important. So, when CR says something is the best, it's worth paying attention to. The Ram 1500 EcoDiesel has "about the same fuel-economy numbers that we typically see in a midsized SUV." – Jake Fisher In this case, CR took a look at the fuel economy of the 2014 Ram 1500 EcoDiesel and found that it came out on top of the fullsize pickup truck pack. The Ram did so with 20 miles per gallon overall and 27 mpg on the highway. CR gave the truck a total road test score of 82. The EPA says that the EcoDiesel 1500 gets 28 mpg on the highway, 20 mpg city and 23 mpg combined. Comparing official EPA numbers, the Ram is also the best among trucks in its class. It's nice when people agree on something. As we know from first-hand, long-distance experience, you can push the 1500 EcoDiesel to 38 mpg. CR found in its own testing that the truck had, "about the same fuel-economy numbers that we typically see in a midsized SUV," said Jake Fisher, CR's director of automotive testing, in a statement. Speaking of midsized SUVs, CR also announced this week that the new Toyota Highlander Hybrid got the top spot in CR's ratings in that category. CR liked pretty much everything about the SUV, saying that the "transitions between electric power and the gas engine are seamless" and that, "the new Highlander also handles better, with a steadier ride and reduced body lean in corners." You can find more at the CR website, in the October print issue of Consumer Reports or in the video and press release below. This content is hosted by a third party. RAM ECODIESEL 1500 TOPS CONSUMER REPORTS FULL-SIZE PICKUP TRUCK RATINGS Redesigned Toyota Highlander Hybrid Climbs to Top of Midsized SUV List Yonkers, N.Y.- The Ram 1500 EcoDiesel climbed to the top of Consumer Reports' full-size pickup truck ratings with an impressive performance in the organization's fuel economy tests. The EcoDiesel (82 point overall road test score) turned in a best-in-class fuel economy of 20 mpg overall and 27 mpg on the highway, to help it score better than the previously tested Ram 1500 V8 (81) regular gas version and Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LT (80).
2020 Dodge Charger Hellcat Widebody, Scat Pack Widebody get grip, go faster
Thu, Jun 27 2019You all knew this was coming. Dodge basically showed it to the public a few months ago. But it's finally official, the 2020 Dodge Charger Hellcat Widebody and naturally aspirated Scat Pack Widebody are going into production. Like the Challenger Widebody, the Charger version is defined by its, well, wide body, which is now standard on all Hellcats and an option on Scat Packs. The fender flares add a total of 3.5 inches of width. Dodge also tweaked the front and rear bumpers and added wider side skirts to help the flares blend into the body. The Hellcat gets a unique rear spoiler, whereas the Scat Pack sticks with the same one its scrawnier twin uses. 2020 Dodge Charger Scat Pack Widebody View 20 Photos But the big advantage to this wide body is the fact Dodge can stick way more tire under the Charger. All Charger Widebody models get 11-inch-wide wheels with 305-mm tires at all four corners. Each version gets revised suspension, too. The Hellcat gets stiffer front springs, thicker front and rear anti-roll bars and retuned shocks. The Scat Pack gets a similar update, but without the thicker front anti-roll bars. Both cars also get six-piston front brake calipers from Brembo with two-piece rotors. All these handling upgrades mean the Charger is an even more impressive track machine. Dodge says the Hellcat now pulls 0.96g on a skid pad, and the Scat Pack Widebody does a little better at 0.98g. The Hellcat has also improved its lap time of Chrysler's 2.1-mile test course by 2.1 seconds, and the Scat Pack improved by 1.3 seconds. Both cars are also still fast in a straight line, with Dodge saying the Hellcat will hit 60 mph in 3.6 seconds on the way to a 10.96 quarter-mile time. Which, Dodge proclaims, makes it the world's most powerful and fastest mass-produced sedan. The Scat Pack Widebody will hit 60 in 4.3 seconds on the way to a 12.4-second quarter-mile.
