Dodge Coronet Factory A/fx 1 Of 1, Collectors Rare Find, Original Penny Pincher on 2040-cars
Bristol, Pennsylvania, United States
|
HERE IS A MUST HAVE CAR FOR THE SERIOUS COLLECTOR. THIS IS A ORIGINAL JC PENNY FACTORY A/FX SUPER STOCK RACE CAR WITH FACTORY FIBERGLASS BUMPERS,HOOD,FENDERS,DOORS, DECK LID AND DASH OPTIONS INCLUDING FACTORY ALUMINUM DOOR HINGES.. SHOWCASED FOR THE LAST 10 YEARS EXCLUSIVELY IN THE WORLD SPEED EXHIBIT AT WAYNE LENSING'S HISTORIC AUTO ATTRACTIONS MUSEUM IN ROSCOE, IL. THIS 1965 DODGE CORONET A/FX SUPER STOCK WAS ORIGINALLY CAMPAIGNED IN 1965 AS THE"" PENNY PINCHER"" WITH KEITH BLACK AS THE ENGINE BUILDER. SEVERAL YEARS AFTER BEING RETIRED,THIS VEHICAL APPEARED AS A DICK LANDY CAR. AFTER THE NEW OWNER REALIZED THAT THE DOCUMENTATION WAS FALSE AND THE CAR WAS ACTUALLY NOT A LANDY CAR, HE HAD THE CAR RESERCHED BY JIM KRAMER (KRAMER AUTOMOTIVE SPEACIALTIES, HERMAN PA) IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THE CAR WAS ORIGINALLY PURCHASED BY JC PENNY AND RACED IN A/FX TO PROMOTE THE STORE'S LINE OF A.FX AUTOMOTIVE PRODUCTS. AS IT TURNED OUT, THIS CAR IS RARER THAN ANYONE EVER EXPECTED. IT MAY BE THE ONLY ONE OF ITS TYPE IN EXISTANCE. IN 1965, THE FACTORIES WERENT ALLOWED TO USE ALUMINUM BODY PARTS ON THE CARS ANYMORE, SO THEY OFFERED THE "65" LIGHTWEIGHTS WITH ACID-DIPPED BODY PANELS. CHRYSLER INTERPRETED THE RULES IN THEIR OWN WAY AND THE RULES SPECIFIED NO ALUMINUM. HOWEVER,NHRA DIDN'T SAY ANYTHING ABOUT USING FIBERGLASS PANELS ON THEIR ALTERED-WHEELBASE CARS, BUT IN ORDER TO DO THAT, THEY HAD TO OFFER FIBERGLASS ON THE REGULAR (UNALTERED) CARS AS AN OPTION. AS IT TURNS OUT THE FIBERGLASS WAS COMPLETED JUST BEFORE THE NHRA RULED THAT FIBERGLASS AND ALTERED -WHEELBASE CARS WOULD NOT BE ALLOWED. THE FIBERGLASS PROGRAM WAS SUMMARILY SCRAPPED AFTER THE RULING BUT FOR A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME, FIBERGLASS REMAINED AN OPTION ON THE STANDARD,UN-ALTERED HEMI RACE CARS, AND ONLY ONE CAR WAS ORDERED WITH THIS OPTION, THE JC PENNY RACE CAR. ITS REALLY A TRICK CAR WITH ALUMINUM DOOR HINGES,FIBERGLASS FENDERS,DORRS,HOOD,DECKLID,BUMPERS AND EVEN THE DASH. IT ALSO HAS PLEXIGLAS WINDOWS. ELECTING NOT TO RETURN THE CAR TO ITS FORMER APPEARENCE, HE BROUGHT MCDONALDS ON BOARD FOR THE FIRST EVER VENTURE INTO MOTOR SPORTS ADVERTISING. THATS RIGHT THE VERY FIRST RACE CAR EVER TO BE GRACED WITH THE GOLDEN ARCHES. COCA-COLA ALSO JOINED IN TO CREATE THE MCDONALDS COCA-COLA NOSTOLGIC RACE TEAM AS IT STILL APPEARS TODAY. AS WITH MANY ORIGINAL RACE CARS, THE CAR CURRENTLY HAS A NOM ALUMINUM HEAD,HEMI, THE ORIGINAL MAGNESIUM CROSS RAM,727 TORQUEFLIGHT AND DANA REAR END. WELL THATS THE HISTORY BEHIND THE CAR AND I HAVE THE DOCUMATION ON IT. IT TRULY IS SOMETHING FOR THE COLLECTOR. YOU CAN SEARCH YOUR WHOLE LIFE TO FIND SOMETHING THAT NO ONE ELSE HAS AND THIS COULD BE YOUR ONLY SHOT. VEH. IS FORSALE LOCALLY SO I DO RESERVE THE RIGHT TO END AUCTION EARLY.. PLEASE, SERIOUS PEOPLE CALL ME TO TALK ABOUT THE CAR. ANY QUESTIONS YOU MIGHT HAVE ,I'M HERE TO ANSWER. 267-475-4000, THANKS FOR LOOKING, BILL |

Dodge Durango SRT is much cheaper than Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT
Fri, Jul 7 2017Dodge has finally announced availability and pricing for the 475-horsepower Dodge Durango SRT. The Detroit-built SUV will start at $64,090 and hit dealer lots toward the end of the year. It's not a cheap SUV by any means, but you get a lot for the money: including 470 pound-feet of torque, and all-wheel-drive. Plus it has three rows of seats and can tow 8,600 pounds. Not only that, but it's basically the best performance SUV deal from the Fiat-Chrysler group. The Grand Cherokee SRT, with the same engine, costs almost $4,000 more at $67,990. The Durango SRT outperforms the Grand Cherokee in several key areas, too. It's 0.4 seconds quicker to 60 mph and manages to break into the 12s in the quarter-mile whereas the Grand Cherokee is stuck in the mid-13-second range. The Durango can also tow an extra 1,400 pounds, has an extra row of seats, and has more maximum cargo space with the seats. So unless you just really love the Jeep look and brand, the Durango SRT seems like the logical choice. And if either still isn't potent enough, just wait for the upcoming Grand Cherokee Trackhawk. Regardless of your choice of SRT vehicle, you'll still come away with a really powerful SUV, as well as a day of instruction at the Bob Bondurant driving school in Arizona. South Dakota dealer filled to brim with classic cars
Wed, 12 Mar 2014Other than the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally and Mount Rushmore, South Dakota isn't generally a hot topic, but that just means that cool stuff can hide in the open waiting to be discovered. Case in point: the classic car dealer Frankman Motor Company that operates three locations in Sioux Falls, SD.
Unearthed by the folks at Bring a Trailer, Frankman is a treasure trove of vintage, American iron. Their collection is full of the type of vehicles your irresponsible but cool uncle would show up with when you were a kid. Even better, these cars are priced at a level a working man can afford.
If you are lusting about a cruiser then Frankman has a 1956 Cadillac Deville Hard Top Sedan (pictured right) with 82,896 miles for $12,975. It's painted a color called Cascade Grey, but looks more like a pastel purple in pictures. While it needs some repairs to the accessories, the Caddy runs and drives, which is all you really need.
It ain't easy keeping a Hellcat steady at 170 mph on ice
Mon, Mar 28 2016The Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat you see hit the ice at Arsunda Speed Weekend in Sweden, over two hours north of Stockholm. It's said to be bone stock, save for the studded tires that help it grip on ice. But it apparently takes more than some steel studs and a lead foot to keep it pointed the right way. Just look at how much driver Alx Danielsson has to saw at the wheel to keep the Hellcat from veering off course. Fortunately he seems to have the chops to do so, being not only a native of Sweden (and therefor imbued from birth with otherworldly abilities to drive on ice) but also having won the highly competitive Formula Renault 3.5 Series championship back in 2006. In the end Danielsson hit a top speed in excess of 170 miles per hour, touted as some sort of record, however unofficial (and specific to Dodge Challengers). That's a fair bit shy of the 205 mph that Bentley achieved in the Continental Supersports, but while that model had slightly less power than the Hellcat, it did have the benefit of all-wheel drive – something that could make all the difference in these kinds of slippery conditions.
