Dodge Charger R/T

Real "J" Code 426 Hemi        ***        Rare AA1 Silver Paint        ***        Keisler/Tremec 5 Speed

Same Owner for 14 Years

Offered for sale is my 1968 Hemi Charger R/T.  It is a REAL factory "J" Code Hemi Car and a REAL factory 4-speed car, 1 of 211 built.  Rarer still is that it is a factory AA1 "Buffed Silver" paint car.  I have owned this car for 14 years as part of my collection and it has always been stored in a heated/cooled/humidity controlled garage.  This Hemi Charger R/T was featured in MOPAR MUSCLE Magazine in November 1997 and has owner history back to when it was ordered new.  This car has been in The Charger Registry since 1989.

Still wearing what I believe is it's only repaint applied by Totally Auto in '92-'93, this original 35k mile car's paint looks the way these cars did when they were new.  Underneath you will find all the original factory undercoat still in outstanding condition and when you look inside the trunk, the original quarter panels & trunk floor are wearing the factory applied sound deadener and all the original pinch welds are clearly visible on the original body.  Under the hood, the production # is stamped in the radiator core support (right next to the original 1968 Hemi radiator) and the left side of the trunk rail is also wearing its stamping.

For many years I drove and enjoyed the car the way it was when I purchased it.  Around 2011, I decided to begin making a few upgrades to the car so it could be better enjoyed.  The undercarriage was completely rebuilt using all new urethane bushings, Moog suspension components as well as adding front disc brakes (original drum units were saved).  The interior was in good condition, but I decided to refurbish the it as well as having Red Line Instruments rebuilt & refinish all the gauges, Secret Audio upgrade the original radio to AM/FM with more power and you can plug in your IPhone and play your favorite music.  I added a new correct center console and had the original Inland Shifter lever re-chrome plated after modifying to fit the 5 speed.  I have a complete new set of seat belts that I have not yet installed.  As for the drivetrain, I had INDY CYLINDER HEAD build a bored & stroked 484 ci engine (1969 block) using a rare set of DART Pro Stock Aluminum heads that were custom machined and bench flow tested.  I had everything under the hood finished to be as stock appearing as possible as I like the "as factory" appearance.  Sporting a solid lifter cam, 3" TTI header/exhaust system, a 4.11 gear set (completely rebuilt by Herb McCandless), and a Tremec 5-speed by KEISLER Engineering, you have the best of all worlds.....The car is a beast in 1st thru 4th, then you have that wonderful 5th gear so you can drive it on the highway without all the fuss.  Another recent upgrade was the addition of redline radial tires all the way around, 225-70-15 for the front and the 275-60-15 Nitto Drag Radials for the rear.  I have all the "H" wheels for the car, though I had to add a set of 15x7 1972 "C" body wheels for the drag radials at the rear to fit properly.

2019 Dodge Challenger Hellcat with twin-scoop hood spied with no camouflage

Mon, May 7 2018

Dodge recently teased an updated 2019 Challenger SRT Hellcat sports coupe complete with an all-new hood with dual scoops. It didn't reveal anything else about the vehicle, saying more details were coming. And now we have more details, but not in the way Dodge probably wanted. We can now see the updated Hellcat with the new hood. To be perfectly honest, it's pretty much what we expected. The teaser photos indicated that the hood was the only major body change, and this car confirms it. The rest of the body is identical to a normal Hellcat. The bumpers, grille mesh, even the wheels are all standard Hellcat parts. Even the slotted rotors and Brembo calipers look the same. This car does suggest that the hood will be available on both the narrow-body Hellcat and the Hellcat Widebody, the latter of which was featured in the teaser images. There is actually one other minor difference on this 2019 Hellcat's exterior, and that's the grille badging. There's now a vintage-style badge with "Challenger" written in script off to one side. Currently only one grille and badge design is available on Hellcat, and it features just the SRT Hellcat logo. It appears the SRT badge is still present, but blocked off on this prototype. So it's possible this new badge comes with the new hood as a sort of retro package for Hellcat. We should have all the details on this and other 2019 Challengers when the car is officially revealed later this summer. Auto Mergers and Acquisitions: Suicide or salvation?

Tue, Sep 8 2015

We love the Moses figure. A savior riding in from stage right with the ideas, the smarts, and the scrappiness to put things right. Alan Mullaly. Carroll Shelby. Lee Iacocca. Andrew Carnegie. Steve Jobs. Elon Musk. Bart Simpson. Sergio Marchionne does not likely view himself with Moses-like optics, but the CEO of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles recently gave a remarkable, perhaps prophetic interview with Automotive News about his interest and the inevitability of merging with a potential automotive partner like General Motors. Marchionne has been overtly public about his notion that GM must merge with FCA. For a bit of context, GM sold 9.9 million vehicles in 2014, posting $2.8 billion in net income, while FCA sold 4.75 million units and earned $2.4 billion in net income, painting a very rosy FCA earnings-to-sales picture. But that's not the entire picture. Most people in the auto industry still remember the trainwreck that was the DaimlerChrysler "merger" written in what turned out to be sand in 1998. It proved to be a master class in how not to fuse two companies, two cultures, two continents, and two management teams. Oh, it worked for the two individuals at both helms pre-merger. They got silly rich. And the industry itself was in a misty romance at the time with mergers and acquisitions. BMW bought Rolls-Royce. Volkswagen Group bought Bentley, Bugatti, and Lamborghini, putting all three brands into their rightful place in both products and positioning. No marriages there, so no false pretense. Finally, Nissan and Renault got married in 1999. A successful marriage requires several rare elements in this atmosphere of gas fumes and power lust. But a successful marriage requires several rare elements in this atmosphere of gas fumes and power lust, the principle part being honesty. Daimler and Chrysler lied to each other. The heads of each unit, the product planners, and finance all presented their then-current and long-range forecasts to each other with less-than-forthright accuracy. Daimler was the far greater equal and no one from the Chrysler side enjoyed that. The cultures were entirely different, too, and little was done to bridge that gap. Which brings me back to the present overtures by Marchionne to GM. "There are varying degrees of hugs," Marchionne stated in the Automotive News piece. "I can hug you nicely, I can hug you tightly, I can hug you like a bear, I can really hug you." Seriously?

GTC deliveries take Rauh collection up to 79 Vipers [w/video]

Mon, Jul 27 2015

How many Vipers is enough? One of the ten-cylinder supercars might be too much machine for most drivers to handle, but not for Wayne and D'Ann Rauh. The Texas couple already own 77 of Dodge's flagship model. And now they've taken delivery of two more. At the Conner Avenue Assembly Plant in Detroit on Friday, the Rauhs received the keys to a pair of Dodge Viper GTCs, customized through the automaker's "1 of 1" customization program. The program allows owners to spec their Viper just the way they want it, with 50 million unique combinations. For their 78th and 79th additions, the Rauhs ordered one decked out in brown with black stripes for Wayne, the other in purple with white for D'Ann, to whom the majority of the collection belongs. Of course, both come equipped with an 8.4-liter V10 driving 645 horsepower and 600 pound-feet of torque to the rear wheels through a six-speed manual transmission. The couple will add the pair to their collection in Arp, TX, a town on the outskirts of Tyler, located between Dallas and Shreveport. The Rauh's garage already includes the last of the previous-generation Vipers decked out in two-tone gold finish. eGarage profiled the couple two years ago when their collection numbered "only" 65, and we have no doubt that number will only continue to grow as long as Dodge keeps building the legendary super-snake. Texas Dodge Viper Enthusiasts Receive Keys to Two New Customized '1 of 1' Dodge Viper GTC Models, Now Owners of 79 Vipers Total July 24, 2015 , Detroit - Dodge Viper owners Wayne and D'Ann Rauh elevate Viper Nation enthusiasm to a whole new level. On Friday, July 24, the couple visited the Conner Avenue Assembly Plant in Detroit to receive keys to not one, but two new customized "1 of 1" Dodge Viper GTC models, making them proud owners of a total of 79 Dodge Vipers. Through the new Viper "1 of 1" customization program, owners can create their very own one-of-a-kind Snake. No two customers can order the same configuration, including color, in the same model year. With the introduction of matte-finish exterior paint, the 2016 Viper is now offered in more than 50 million unique build configurations, made up from the more than 16,000 unique paint color options and more than 48,000 unique stripe combinations.
