Up for auction is this stunning 1969 Dodge Charger RT 4-speed with Dana 60 rear axle. It is a two owner car with 88,682 miles. Before its restoration, it was last on the road in 1981. Then it was stored indoors until 2007. This car has been completely restored. The 440 block has been rebuilt. The four speed transmission has been rebuilt and the Dana 60 is a brand new unit from drum to drum by DTS. (see ads in mopar magizines). The Fender Tag reads as follows...
V8X 26 END

A33 C16 C55 M21 M31 V1X

R6 C6X X9 127 104274

E86 D21 XS29 L9B 276299

The Body is refinished in its original R6 red paint including the interior floors, trunk floors, engine compartment, and complete undercarrage. The paint was sprayed in a brand new down draft heated paint booth. (I think this was the 5th car painted in the booth). Then almost fourty hours of color sanding and several stages of buffing. With a lot of cars on-line, the vehicles look better in pictures then in person. With this car, the pictures do not do it justice. This car must be seen in person to be appreciated. It was painted four years ago and in storage ever since.

The Interior compartment has a brand new carpet, new seat covers and foam, new headliner, door panels and trim, new seat belts, new console and trim, rechromed shifter, new sills and more. The insturment cluster has been restored by Auto Insturments. The guages were refinished and calabrated, the needles were bead blasted and repainted and the plastic chrome was refinsihed which all make this unit looking and functioning like new. This charger was radio delete so there is no stereo. All the window seals and gaskets have been replaced and all the window slides and felts are new also. All the glass was removed during painted and was buffed before reinstalling. The windshield (clear, not tinted) is new.

The undercarrage was sandblasted and refinished. It has three different types of primers were applied before it was base coat/clear coated in R6 red. The exhaust is reproduction. All the shocks are correct, suspension was restored to original as well as brakes, fuel lines, brake lines, bushings, emergency brake cables, body plugs, gas tank, sending unit, straps, ect.

The engine is a cast 1969 block. It is not matching numbers to the car. It has been completely rebuilt. It has the correct carter carburator, it has been rebuilt and rejetted to the cam card of the rebuilt kit used. Also the engine has the correct intake and exhaust manifolds, the correct water pump housing, the correct valve covers, the correct wiring with reproduction identication stickers wrapped around the them. The correct heater hoses, correct vacuum hoses for the hideaway headlights, the correct distributer and coil with the 2 of 69 build date. It has the correct battey cables with tags. There are reproduction enging compartment decals throughout. It has a standard battery with a battery topper on it. This 440 runs strong and smooth with only less then 100 miles on it since its rebuild. It has a crane cam and rollor rockers from the 440 souce. There is a new compition clutch behind it.

The transmission has been rebuilt and refinished. It is matching numbers aer original to the car.

The rear is a brand new unit from DTS drum to drum. The chrome diff cover ofcorse not correct, but that could easily be corrected by the new owner if so desired.

The wheels are magnum 500s which according to the build sheet are not correct. The car came with 14 inch steel wheels with hub caps from the factory with red line tires. We choose to use the 15 inch magnums with BF Goodrich radial red line tires for looks. This can also be easily swapped by the new owner.

The trunk compartment was also restored to original. The trunk floors are original and solid. The inside of the quarter panels were refinished body color, the jack was restored and repainted. The spare wears the same BF Goodrich red line tire thats on the other four wheels.

The brakes are all drum with is correct according to the build sheet.

The grill has been restored, there are no broken teeth in it. The headlight doors work properly as well.

I tried to cover everything. Please ask questions and come see the car for yourself in person.  Vehicle is for sale locally.  I reserve the right to end the auction early for the right offer.

There is a facebook page for this car simply called Charger Rt There are over 80 pictures ( all close ups ) As the days go by I will be posting more pics, mostly undercarrage. Click on the links below for the pictures.

2015 Dodge Challenger looks fresh, still plenty retro [w/video]

Thu, 17 Apr 2014

It was the Ford Mustang that kicked off the retro-styled muscle car renaissance back in 2005, but it was the Dodge Challenger that served as the movement's poster child, with its unabashedly retro looks. Over the years, though, as the Mustang and the Chevrolet Camaro were freshened and upgraded, the look of the big Dodge has remained largely consistent since its 2008 debut. For 2015, the Challenger has received a big freshening, boasting strongly revised front and rear ends and (finally, finally, finally) a redesigned interior.
Let's talk about that new cabin first. It's basically been plucked directly from the redesigned Charger, and boasts the same seven-inch IP display. The center stack's miserable, last-gen display has been replaced by an expansive, 8.4-inch UConnect system. Material quality should see a solid boost with the new cabin, as well.
The exterior, meanwhile, sees a revised front fascia with LED halo lights, as well as new grille inserts. A functional shaker hood scoop is a must-have extra on the V8 models, while the back of the car is highlighted by a new set of LED taillights that don't use the "Racetrack" design of Dodge's other models.

Dodge Charger Pursuit nets quickest lap in police car test

Mon, 30 Sep 2013

We wouldn't advocate trying to outrun the police, no matter what you're driving and no matter what they are. But if you see a Dodge Charger bearing down on you with blue lights flashing in your rearview mirror, you'd better think twice before attempting to flee, because the Charger Pursuit has once again emerged as the fastest police cruiser out there.
In the latest Police Vehicle Evaluation held by the Michigan State Police at Grattan Raceway, Dodge says its new Charger Pursuit AWD posted a lap time of 1:33.85. That's quicker than any of the other law enforcement vehicles present, but also makes it the quickest all-wheel-drive cruiser available to law-enforcement officials. That may not make it the quickest of all time, but that honor belongs to the rear-drive Dodge Charger Pursuit, which cuts a fraction of a second off its AWD counterpart's time with a 1:33.70. But in regions where the extra traction could come in handy, that's as negligible a difference as we've ever seen.
Of course, the annual PVE sessions held by the Michigan State Police take in to account a wide variety of performance tests, including top speed, acceleration, braking, handling, fuel economy and ergonomics. The MSP has yet to reveal its full findings from its 2014 model year tests, but we'll be sure to bring them to you when they are published.

Dodge Durango gets the Blacktop treatment

Sat, 09 Aug 2014

The Dodge Durango is getting a meaner, more aggressive look as it becomes the latest model from the brand to wear the Blacktop Appearance Package. The upgrades are strictly cosmetic, but they lend the SUV a more assertive demeanor that some buyers like.
Available on the SXT, Limited and R/T (shown above) models, all Blacktop Durangos get black 20-inch wheels, dual exhaust, bod- color fascia and gloss black trim. The grille surround, air dam, mirrors and headlight surrounds all get the inky treatment, as well. The improvements add $1,590 to the cost of the SXT. They come to $1,990 on the Limited but also include HID headlights with LED running lights and a leather interior. Finally, R/T buyers only need to pay $295 for the upgrades. The Blacktop Durango hits showrooms this October.
If you're already in the market for a Durango but want a dash more style with no added performance, the Blacktop might not be a bad way to go. It certainly gives the SUV a bit more edge than it has in stock form. Scroll down to read the full release.
