Up for auction is my 1968 Dodge Charger that has a 440 and a 4 speed transmission. This was set to be my project but, I just have not had the time, nor the  extra cash to get her going. The car is title in my name and I have a Clean title for the car. This is a running and driving project car. The engine starts right up and idles very smoothly. There are no knocks in the motor, and she does not smoke! The carb is a old Carter carb that has seen better day, but she seems to work fine. The trans is a A833 4 speed that shifts great, and downshifts great also. The car has been on trips around the neighborhood and to the gas station but, that is it... so I would suggest that if you buy the car I would trailer it home as I have not had the car out any long trips. The car prior to me purchasing it, had sat since 1995. I put a new tank/ sending unit in, flushed the lines, new fuel pump and she fired up right away and ran fine! The car is in very good condition for a project, nice body lines and minimal rust. The floors look great, rockers look great, but the lower rear quarters have some small rust bubbles. The trunk pan was replaced in the past also. The rust is very minor on the car, and the rear panel behind the back window looks just ok. The car is a running/ driving project car. These Chargers are getting very hard to find, and this one is a great start to a project, or just do a little and drive it like she sits. The car was originally Red, with a black interior.

The doors both open and close well, the windows roll up and down and the glass is all in good shape overall. The windshield is a few years old but, in great shape. The Speedo works, the Tac works, but the clock is frozen. Gas gauge works, volt gauge works, and the temp gauge works too. The headlight switch is not working correctly, but the brake lights/ blinkers all work, and the horn works too. The dash pad has some cracks, but the lower dash pads are in decent shape. The headliner is in great shape, and the door panels are in ok shape but, they are showing normal wear and tear. The car will come with some different tires/ wheels than are pictured.

The car is a nice driver/ project type car! The winning bidder is required to pay a $1000 non refundable deposit due within 24 hours of winning the car! The car is being sold " As Is" due to it's age. The deposit must be paid through Paypal. The remaining balance is due within 3 days of the auction closing, and the final payment may be made with a Cashiers check, wire transfer or cash in person. The car must be picked up within 2 weeks of the auction closing, and my zip code is 89131 for shipping purposes. Please email me with any questions, and good luck!! choice!!

On Nov-08-13 at 16:46:54 PST, seller added the following information:

In response to a few questions I have received about the car... The car was originally a 318 with a manual trans. The 440 and 4 speed that are now in the car were out of a 71 "B" body car. The motor runs very well but, I do not know the true mileage or when it was rebuilt last. I do not have the data tag for the car as it was missing when I bought the car. I do not have a build sheet for the car either, sorry. As far as the body goes, it is very straight and you will be hard pressed to find dents or dings in the car.... I have not had many cars as straight as this Charger is! Good Luck, and if you have any questions that you need to speak to me about please feel free to call me at 702-321-2457. I will not discuss what I want for the car but, you are welcome to make a fair offer and we can discuss that. Shawn

7 major automakers to build open EV charging network

Wed, Jul 26 2023

A new joint venture established by BMW, GM, Honda, Hyundai, Kia, Mercedes-Benz and Stellantis will build a new North American electric vehicle charging network on a scale designed to compete with Tesla's industry-benchmark Supercharger network. The 30,000-plus planned new chargers will accommodate both Tesla's almost-standard North American Charging System (NACS) and existing automakers' Combined Charging System (CCS) options, effectively guaranteeing compatibility with the vast majority of current and upcoming electric models — whether they're from one of the involved automakers or not.  "With the generational investments in public charging being implemented on the Federal and State level, the joint venture will leverage public and private funds to accelerate the installation of high-powered charging for customers. The new charging stations will be accessible to all battery-powered electric vehicles from any automaker using Combined Charging System (CCS) or North American Charging Standard (NACS) and are expected to meet or exceed the spirit and requirements of the U.S. National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) program." Critically, the automakers involved will have a say in how the charging tech is implemented, guaranteeing that the hardware will play nicely with each automaker's in-house charging systems. Hyundai and Kia, for example, were hesitant to jump on board the Tesla NACS bandwagon earlier this year over concerns that the Supercharger network is insufficient for powering the two automakers' 800-volt charging systems; similar tech is used by Volkswagen and Porsche.  In addition to providing much-needed capacity and high-output charging for America's growing fleet of electric cars and trucks, the new network will integrate seamlessly with each automaker's in-app and in-vehicle features, rather than forcing customers to use third-party tools and payment systems, as is the case with some existing public charging infrastructure.  "The functions and services of the network will allow for seamless integration with participating automakersÂ’ in-vehicle and in-app experiences, including reservations, intelligent route planning and navigation, payment applications, transparent energy management and more. In addition, the network will leverage Plug & Charge technology to further enhance the customer experience," the announcement said.

Stellantis launching at least 25 EVs for America by 2030

Tue, Mar 1 2022

Stellantis has announced a wide-ranging plan for the company through 2030 covering everything from product to financials. The product plans are what really caught our attention, particularly for the surprise reveal of the first electric Jeep, as well as new teasers of the electric Ram 1500. But the company also provided more broad details on what we'll be seeing in the future including both electric cars and hydrogen fuel cell vehicles. All of the plans are in service of the Stellantis goal of reaching net zero carbon emissions by 2038. On that way, it plans for all European vehicle sales and half of all American sales to be electric by 2030. It will launch 75 new electric vehicles by that year, and at least 25 of them will be coming to the U.S. The first of those electric cars will be the aforementioned Jeep in 2023, but many Stellantis models will follow close behind. The electric Ram ProMaster will launch in 2023 as well. In 2024, we'll see the electric Ram (and its plug-in hybrid counterpart), two more Jeeps (an off-road model and a family-oriented model) and the Dodge electric muscle car. We'll get a preview of the Dodge with a concept this year. Then in 2025, Chrysler will launch its electric car, likely based on the Airflow concept. Stellantis has previously announced Chrysler will be fully electric by 2028, and it further announced that Alfa Romeo and Maserati will be fully electric by 2030. Stellantis is also working on hydrogen fuel cell vehicles, mainly for commercial use. For the U.S., it plans on offering a large, ProMaster-size hydrogen van in 2025. That year or a little later, it also has plans for a hydrogen heavy-duty pickup truck, presumably Ram 2500 and 3500. Stellantis CEO Carlos Tavares noted that among the benefits of hydrogen for large and commercial vehicles is being able to avoid compromising payload capacity, since hydrogen powertrains are lighter than giant batteries. Hydrogen filling times are quick relative to charging, too. The company will continue working on and offering advanced driver aids. This year it will offer hands-free cruise control like GM's Super Cruise and Ford's BlueCruise. In 2024, the company intends to introduce a system that is hands-free and won't require the driver to be watching it the entire time. The technology is being developed alongside BMW. These are, of course, broad plans, and they could change as time goes on. Expect more details as we get closer to individual product releases.

Old Dodge vans are big in Japan

Fri, Sep 23 2016

One of the great things about Japan and its car culture is that it plays host to some of the most unusual and unique vehicle trends in the world. Whether it's neon-clad Lamborghinis or luxury sedans with insane negative camber, the country always seems to have something new up its sleeve. One of the most surprising trends is track-ready, full-size Dodge vans called Dajibans, and the video above presents a great look at these absurd machines. This isn't the first time we've covered these racing Dodge vans, but it's a subculture too awesome not to merit a second look. For one thing, just as American fans of Japanese cars here like to use JDM (Japanese Domestic Market) parts on their cars, the owners of these Dodges like to use American parts. Many of the vans feature Little Tree air fresheners inside and even have Spectre air filters on the intakes. Who would've thought there would be a market for Autozone's bread and butter auto accessories? Plus, these vans get some other impressive mods. Notice that some vans that appear to have stock metal bumpers, but they're actually fiberglass replicas in the original shape and given a chrome-like paint job. The video's host, an Australian drift fanatic named Alexi who lives in Japan and runs website called Noriyaro.com, gets some great onboard footage, too. One of the vans he rides along in is powered by a generally stock 318 Dodge V8, and still has the original automatic transmission and column shifter. Impressively, the driver manages to manually shift it without grabbing the wrong gear, and even rev matches the shifts. Alexi explains that the driver can catch neutral in-between gears three and two, so there's a brief moment where he can blip the throttle. There's even more information in the video, and it's all fantastic fun to watch. If you decide you haven't seen enough of Dajibans, you can also check out our previous post on it, which is more polished and provides some history and context to the trend.
