1971 Dodge Challenger R/t Sassy Grass Green 340 Tribute Low Reserve on 2040-cars
Soda Springs, Idaho, United States
I am selling my 1971 Dodge Challenger at a low reserve. My employment has changed and some of my toys must go. This has been my baby for the past 5 years. It has been stored in its own climate controlled room in my home since I purchased it. I purchased the car 5 years ago from an individual in the San Francisco area. The car had spent most of its life in Denver Colorado where he purchased it I believe in the late 1990s. He lived in Denver and took a road trip in the challenger to San Francisco a year before I bought it and decided he like the are and stayed there. The car is painted in the beautiful Sassy Grass Green. The car was painted about three years ago. The paint is very nice but does have a few chips. I love to drive this car and it does not sit much other than winter. I do not drive it in the snow or on rainy days. All gauges, lights, wipers, heater, etc.. work on the car. The mileage is just under 45K and it drives like it has 45K but the car is too fun to drive so I doubt it is actual. The interior is nice, seats, headliner, door panels are all nice and the dash is nice with no cracks. The trunk and undercarriage are solid and in great shape. The car has the snorkel fiberglass hood. I have the original hood and springs if the new owner would like them. The vinyl top is in nice condition but there is a little bubbling under the top in a few areas. The engine runs great and has a ton of power but does run a bit on the hot side if it idles long on warm days the transmission shifts smooth. I was going to have the water pump replaced but it has not been enough of an issue to worry abou,t the windows have been tinted and it looks good but there is a small spot on the drivers window down low that has pulled slightly. the car has a nice CD player. This is a beautiful car and gets thumbs up and attention everywhere it goes. I take it to all of the local cruise ins and car shows. It always shows well. This car is fun to drive has power steering and 3:73 gears so it is very nice to cruise on backroads and/or the free way at freeway speeds. I have attached a link to youtube with a walk around video of the car http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_oXOn3ykLXA The tires are muddy in the video because I had to take it thru a mud puddle to get it out of my basement for pics. If you need additional info or pics please let me know. On Jan-06-14 at 15:49:48 PST, seller added the following information: My employment has changed and I have to let some of my toys go. I have also listed my 1974 challenger with tons of documentation and will be listing my X22 396 big block 1969 camaro running driving project car within the next few weeks. Thanks for looking. |

Jay Leno gets his denim mitts on Dodge's new Challenger Hellcat
Mon, 04 Aug 2014The 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat is definitely the performance car of the moment. The fact that in the near future, people will be able to buy a 707-horsepower muscle machine straight from a major automaker for $59,995 and with a factory warranty almost seems absurd. We drove it recently and found the Hellcat to be just as much of a beast as its numbers would suggest. Now, it's a certain comedian's turn behind the wheel in the latest episode of Jay Leno's Garage.
This week's guest is Dodge President and CEO Tim Kuniskis, and he's there to drop all sorts of interesting factoids about the Hellcat. For example, its Pirelli P Zero tires retail at around $300 each, he says. That makes its smoky burnouts a rather expensive proposition. Kuniskis, who recently hinted at a mystery Woodward Dream Cruise debut, also talks about the genesis of the 2015 SRT project with a goal to get over some of the standard Challenger's weight and size disadvantages. The fix is a supercharged V8, massive brakes and other goodies to smooth over the platform's more glaring shortcomings.
Leno appears to get a big kick out of the Hellcat. However, he can't seem to stop bringing up his desire to drive one with a six-speed manual. They obviously exist, but Kuniskis has an eight-speed automatic for the retired Tonight Show host to try out. Of course, as with any Hellcat video, there has to be at least one burnout. Despite the expensive tires, it seems like enthusiast's law at this point - and dear ol' Jay wouldn't want to break any rules, would he?
2019 Dodge Challenger Hellcat with twin-scoop hood spied with no camouflage
Mon, May 7 2018Dodge recently teased an updated 2019 Challenger SRT Hellcat sports coupe complete with an all-new hood with dual scoops. It didn't reveal anything else about the vehicle, saying more details were coming. And now we have more details, but not in the way Dodge probably wanted. We can now see the updated Hellcat with the new hood. To be perfectly honest, it's pretty much what we expected. The teaser photos indicated that the hood was the only major body change, and this car confirms it. The rest of the body is identical to a normal Hellcat. The bumpers, grille mesh, even the wheels are all standard Hellcat parts. Even the slotted rotors and Brembo calipers look the same. This car does suggest that the hood will be available on both the narrow-body Hellcat and the Hellcat Widebody, the latter of which was featured in the teaser images. There is actually one other minor difference on this 2019 Hellcat's exterior, and that's the grille badging. There's now a vintage-style badge with "Challenger" written in script off to one side. Currently only one grille and badge design is available on Hellcat, and it features just the SRT Hellcat logo. It appears the SRT badge is still present, but blocked off on this prototype. So it's possible this new badge comes with the new hood as a sort of retro package for Hellcat. We should have all the details on this and other 2019 Challengers when the car is officially revealed later this summer. MotorWeek remembers a better time for Mitsubishi performance
Fri, Feb 26 2016Dodge still knows how to create an capable performance car – look at the Hellcats, for example – but the same isn't true for Mitsubishi. With the Lancer Evo's demise, we don't expect driving enthusiasts to clamor for any of the Japanese automaker's other products. Things used to be different, though. As MotorWeek found in its new Retro Review, the 1991 Mitsubishi 3000GT VR4 and its sibling, the Dodge Stealth R/T Turbo, were impressive sports coupes in their day. Dodge and Mitsubishi packed a bevy of cutting-edge tech into the coupes. In these trims, both sported all-wheel drive, four-wheel steering, an adjustable suspension, active exhaust, and automatic climate control. The 3000GT VR4 upped the ante even more with active aero parts at the front and rear. Their 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 was good for 300 horsepower and 307 pound-feet, which were good numbers at the time. This pair put all their gizmos to good use, too. MotorWeek compares the all-wheel-drive system's grip levels to a Porsche 911 Carrera 4. When was the last time you heard any favorable similarity between a Mitsubishi and a Porsche? The Stealth R/T Turbo and 3000GT VR4 came from a special time for Japanese sports coupes, when every brand had a halo model. Whether you were looking at Nissan 300ZX, Mazda RX-7, Toyota Supra, or even the Acura NSX, there was a lot to like on the market. MotorWeek's latest Retro Review offers a great reminder of that period.
