1970 Dodge Challenger Convertible #'s Matching Beautiful Rare on 2040-cars

Rare Dodge Challenger Convertible Slant 6. Car is in excellent condition. I have too many classics and need to make some room. This car is too nice not to be driven or shown. I had a full restoration done on this car about 2 years ago and I'm lucky if I drove it 20 miles. I pulled it out to check everything and all checks out fine. The only thing I noticed was the snaps that mount to rear panel that top boot cover snaps to are in a bag in the trunk and not installed. I never noticed after restoration because I never put the top down. There is also a little staining on intake manifold under air cleaner where some gas leaked when engine was installed.

This Challenger has a matching numbers drive train. I forgot where the numbers were so didn't take picture but I can guarantee that they are all there and match as I witnessed all numbers during restoration to make sure (radiator support, cowl, engine, transmission, rear end, all match). The car is restored to what it was when new. When I bought it the car was still wearing it's original paint. The only questionable thing is the bumble bee stripe. The fender tag does not call for it but as I said the car had it's original paint and the stripe was on it painted the way they did back in 1970, so I figured either the dealership added the stripe or the factory. I saved the original trunk lid with stripe for anyone who wanted to check. This car was found in a barn in southern Rhode Island. The car had not seen the road since the 70's. I paid someone a finders fee and 20k for the car and then sent it to the restoration shop for a rotisserie nut and bolt restoration.

Dodge produced 378 Challenger Slant 6's. There are very few left, especially full matching numbers. Most people pulled out the slant engines and put a big block in the car since all convertibles were set up with torque boxes to receive all engines. When was the last time you saw one with full matching drive train? I have a Hemi clone convertible and this Slant car get's all the attention. It's just refreshing to see a car that is what it was and nothing more. There was a write up in Hemmings about a similar car from Massachusetts that had similar options but engine was not matching, it was also featured in Mopar Magazine, I believe. In any case a refreshing original change.

I know how hard it can be to buy a car on the internet. I have bought many from honest sellers and 1 from a not so honest seller. I will answer any questions and invite you to view the car for inspection. If you need to fly in to view, I can assist.

Thank You For Viewing,

Custom 2014 Dodge Durango R/T proves SEMA can be subtle

Thu, 07 Nov 2013

The annual SEMA Show in Las Vegas can often be a sensory overload of overwrought madness, with cars that don't even look drivable anymore. But every once in a while, a modestly modified show car graces our presence, like the customized Dodge Durango you see here, which, in addition to giving us our first glimpse at the aftermarket possibilities for the refreshed-for-2014 model, proves that a car doesn't have to be slammed, scooped, donked and Lambo-doored to have presence.
Sure, this Durango has custom hood inserts, dark 22-inch wheels and custom fender flares, but as far as external modifications go, that's it. Inside, Dodge has fitted new door sill guards, an ambient lighting kit, bright pedals, premium floor mats and - of course - Katzkin leather. The automaker has even added wireless internet connectivity as part of the excellent Uconnect infotainment system.
Performance upgrades are minimal on this Durango R/T, which comes packed with Chrysler's 5.7-liter Hemi V8. Larger brakes have been fitted, as have lowering springs (though it certainly doesn't look that much lower) and a custom exhaust.

What's the deal with Chrysler demanding colleges crush their Vipers? [w/video]

Fri, 07 Mar 2014

Students and teachers at a Washington community college are up in arms following an order from Chrysler that it must destroy the pre-production Dodge Viper that was donated to the school's automotive technology program ten years ago.
The Viper in question is said to be the fourth off the production line, based on its VIN, and has had its emissions controls disabled, allowing its ten-cylinder engine to produce 600 horsepower, according to a report from Yahoo! Autos. As one of the first Vipers ever produced, the school's AT instructors claim it could be worth $250,000 in a museum, while a local news report purports that Jay Leno once tried to purchase the car, but the sale was prevented by Chrysler.
As pointed out by our friends at Autobytel, though, there are a lot of things in this story that don't quite add up. Immediately noticeable from the news report embedded below - which shows the car at South Puget Sound Community College - is that the car in question is not a 1992 model. When the Viper went on sale in 1992, it was only available as an RT/10 with a (flimsy) soft top, like the red car shown above. But the car featured in the report from KING5 News (inset image) is clearly a hardtop Viper GTS, which didn't enter production until 1996. And even if, as reported by a local newspaper, the hardtop featured is a prototype, it doesn't explain the lack of another iconic feature of the first Vipers - their distinctive side pipes. This kind of pokes holes in the school's argument that this is the fourth Viper to ever roll down the line. At best, this appears to be a pre-production Viper GTS.

25,000 Jeep Grand Cherokee, Dodge Durango SUVs recalled over brake feel

Mon, 10 Mar 2014

Chrysler has announced that it is recalling over 25,000 Jeep Grand Cherokee and Dodge Durango SUVs from several markets over concerns about brake feel under hard braking. The affected models are from the 2012 and 2013 model years, although the actual dates of production aren't available. 18,700 are in the US, while 825 are in Canada, 530 are in Mexico and a further 5,200 outside of North America.
According to a statement, Chrysler was informed of the issue by a component supplier for the Ready Alert Braking system, which primes the brakes in anticipation of an emergency stop. A component in the system was restricting the flow of brake fluid too much.
As Chrysler is quick to point out, the way the brakes functioned was in compliance with regulations and there are no reported cases of drivers losing braking power. Instead, the issue rests with what Chrysler calls a pedal feel that "was not consistent with customer expectations." So it would seem Chrysler is being proactive and fixing a problem not because there's a legal issue at work, but simply because it doesn't feel the way the manufacturer wants it to. Well done.
