This Z is an incredibly well preserved 70's time capsule. One owner since 1977,completely unmodified, impecably maintained, and always garage kept. 100% documentation (including a log of every fuel tank fill up) and all maintenance records dating back to time of purchase included. This car has always been (lightly) driven regularly, and I have yet to see a better example of an unmodified '77 daily driver in this condition. Actual mileage is 109513 - 1 roll over at 99,999 + the 9514 you see on the odometer. Be skeptical of the sub 50k mileage figures stated on many cars of this vintage listed for sale. 100% stock L28 OHC fuel injected V6, rare 3 spd auto trans, new battery, recent routine maintenance, 195/70 14 Michelins with original wheel covers and center caps, rare lower body trim panels, and original factory A/C cold & fully operational. This car is currently registered and passed California's super stringent enhanced smog test in Feb 2013. This is a clear testament to the fine condition of the engine, emissions, and exhaust system. Factory metallic copper paint with pin striping is almost flawless. Looks incredible even on the overcast day the attached pics were taken. Just one small anamolous area of rust behind the pass. side wheel. The rest of the body shows no signs of rust. All glass is perfect. The interior is all original and the door panels, cargo area, headliner, original(working) AM/FM radio, original carpet and passenger seat look factory fresh. The dash pad has the typical splitting above the center gauges seen in most vintage Z's, and there are tears on the original driver's seat. Climate control currently doesn't switch over to heat or defrost. This might be repaired prior to sale.
Going to let this beautiful car go for way below the average selling price for '77 Z's in this condition as it has a California "Revived Salvage" title. It was briefly stolen and recovered in 1993. The insurance company "totaled" the car even though the only significant damage was a broken driver side window and a broken shift lock('70's Z's had a ridiculously low blue book value in 1993). The title designation means the car was reported by the insurance company as "totaled"(repair cost exceeded period blue book value of the car) and was later certified by DMV inspection to be 100% road worthy after repair. The whole incident and subsequent repairs have 100% documentation, which are available for your review.
Don't pass up this incredible opportunity to own a beautifully preserved '77 280Z in original condition. This is a head turner as is, and could be a show car with only minor restoration. It's also the perfect virgin blank canvas for someone with big plans. A non-refundable deposit of $500 is due within 48 hrs of auction close. Buyer is responsible for pick up, or must arrange their own shipping. Let me know if you have any questions.

Malaise Era All-Stars
Fri, 17 May 2013A few weeks ago, we bid a fond happy 40th anniversary to the automotive dark ages of 1973-84 that have come to be known as "The Malaise Era" - the performance ice-age when 160 horsepower was a lot and a 0-60 time of under 10 seconds was remarkable. Like music in the 1980s, everything in automobiledom didn't suck, however. There were a few bright spots. Here are five of our favorites:

Datsun expands low-cost revival with new Mi-Do in Moscow [w/video]
Fri, 29 Aug 2014Those who were disappointed when Datsun changed its name to Nissan over three decades ago may have been pleased to see the marque revived last year, even as a budget brand. Nissan's counterpart to its ally Renault's Dacia budget brand, Datsun has been steadily expanding its lineup of low-cost transportation for developing markets with the debut of the Go hatchback in India, the Go+ minivan in Indonesia and the On-Do sedan in Russia. And now it has returned to Moscow to reveal its fourth model, the Mi-Do.
Based closely on the On-Do sedan (which itself is based on the Lada Granta) the Mi-Do takes on a five-door hatchback bodystyle but with no more frills. It uses the same front-drive chassis with the same wheelbase as the sedan, but its chopped tail makes it a good foot and a half shorter overall. Into that compact shape, Datsun has fitted dual airbags, ABS and... well, that's about it. It's got a 1.6-liter, eight-valve inline-four kicking out a grand total of 87 horsepower to either a five-speed manual or a four-speed automatic. Bare bones, this is.
While delivery of the first On-Do sedans commences next month (with the first example going to an IT specialist in Omsk), the Mi-Do is set to begin delivery early next year. Scope out the video and press release below from the Mi-Do's reveal at the Moscow Motor Show.
Roadkill pits every project car against each other
Sat, 22 Feb 2014The guys behind Motor Trend's monthly Roadkill series have collected nine of their favorite project cars from their videos and pitted them against each other in a battle royale to determine a winner. It's 44 minutes long, but it's completely worth the investment of time.
The cars run the gamut from a 1973 Chevrolet Ramp Truck, a 1975 AMC Pacer and a legitimately impressive 1967 Chevy Camaro, and they are pitted against each other to see which is the fastest around an autocross course. The drivers include Roadkill's two hosts and Motor Trend's Johnny Lieberman and Carlos Lago. It's reminiscent of the best episodes of Top Gear and worth a watch.
So it's the weekend - the perfect time to relax. Grab your preferred beverage, get comfortable and enjoy 44 minutes of some seriously ratty but utterly cool project cars as they are throttled within an inch of their lives (or past it). Scroll down to check out the video.
