Hello and thank you for checking out the gorgeous and incredible driving third owner 1977 Datsun 280z with only 96k original miles.

She was re-painted with Hot Hues True Blue candy color paint (House of Kolor). She has a beautiful high gloss finish and is finished off with the MSA air damn, skirts, and rear bumper.

She is powered by Nissan's legendary inline 6 engine, which has been quite tastefully upgraded with a custom intake and exhaust system with a header, she still has tons of life left in her and has plenty of get up and go.  The engine has been recently serviced and is in turn-key condition. The transmission is the stock 5-speed manual transmission which shifts smooth through all the gears.

The interior is very nice, with a stock look. The seats are Nissan's high back sport seats and were re-upholstered with new seat covers. The stereo was updated to retain a stock look but has the ability to play A.M. and F.M. radio, as well as have an aux input for a phone or iPod.  The speakers were upgraded to JL Audio's, two-way speakers for crisp sound.

The suspension was upgraded with all new polyurethane bushings, then treated to the Tokico adjustable struts, springs, and front camber plates.  The brakes were upgraded to 4 piston calipers off of a Toyota 4x4, pushing down on Nissan 300zx vented rotors in the front.  The rear has new breaks shoes as well as wheel cylinders spring of 2013. Brand new brake master cylinder and clutch cylinder were added in Spring 13' as well.

She sits on mint Konig Rewind rims.  She has been garaged her whole life and has never seen rain, she sits in the garage during the winter with occasional start ups and tire rotations to keep tires from getting flat spots.  Early September tires were balanced and were re-aligned to ensure a smooth, straight driving experience.  I have many receipts on the car for all the services as well as after market changes. The car was purchased from Barbarino Nissan in Wallingford, CT, and has been in a Madison, CT garage ever since, only driven in the summer.

Car is 100% rust free and frame rails are rock solid.

Purchasing this car means not being able to go anywhere without getting noticed.

37K miles in a 1967 Datsun Roadster

Tue, 11 Mar 2014

When we think of comfy, long-distance road cars, there are a few obvious choices. A Mercedes-Benz S-Class, Bentley Continental GT or, assuming fuel efficiency isn't paramount, a Range Rover are all good options for a road trip. But what if that road trip was 37,000 miles? Maybe something more reliable but still comfortable, then, like a Honda Accord. What about a 1967 Datsun Roadster?
As insane as it sounds, Scott Fisher is doing just that, running a Datsun 1600 Roadster across North America and racking up 13,500 miles in his first three months on the road. His total journey will see him pile over 37,000 miles on his red convertible. The car is lightly modified, but most of the work is for the sake of reliability and comfort, with a five-speed manual 'box, an upgraded radiator and electronic ignition.
Fisher's trip hasn't been all smooth, with a few typical bits of trouble. He also ran into some deer in Utah, quite literally, clipping one of the animals, which delivered quite a bit of damage to the passenger's front fender (hence the rear three-quarter view in our lead shot). Still, the car seems to be holding up well, as shown in this latest video from Petrolicious.

Datsun officially reborn with Go model for India [w/video]

Mon, 15 Jul 2013

In March of 2012, Nissan announced the return of its historic Datsun brand. Datsun used to represent the Nissan brand in a number of markets, but its badge hasn't been worn on a new model since 1981. In 2013, though, it has been relaunched as the Japanese manufacturer's budget offering in the emerging markets of India and Russia.
The model that will lead that charge, at least in India, is the Go, a car that pays tribute to the very first Datsun, the DAT-GO.
The operative term with the Datsun brand is: "budget offering." Don't step inside the Go and expect beautiful hides or brushed metals (it's being sold in India, after all). The instrument cluster features a simple speedometer, while the five-speed manual and the center stack above it are rather barren. It's not without luxuries, though, as iPod-style connectivity is available through a Mobile Docking Station.

Datsun's lackluster initial sales fall below Tata Nano

Wed, 15 Oct 2014

When Tata introduced the Nano back in 2008, everyone was amazed at how cheap it was. They called it a game changer, but no game was changed. In fact, it took Tata five years to sell the 250,000 units it had the capacity to build in a single year. As it turns out, even buyers in what economists call "developing markets" like India aren't necessarily interested in buying an ultra-cheap automobile. And now it appears that Nissan may be falling into the same trap.
A little over a year ago, Nissan revived its old moniker Datsun to serve as a budget brand - similar to what ally Renault did with Dacia. Its lineup (consisting of models like the Go hatchback, Go+ minivan, On-Do sedan and Mi-Do hatch) is largely based on old architecture, packaged with little more than basic equipment and sold at rock-bottom prices. But Bloomberg reports that, even in the brand's core markets like India and Indonesia, the new Datsuns haven't been selling.
According to local industry figures, Datsun has sold fewer than 10,000 units of its $5,100 Go hatchbacks in India since its introduction back in March. Maruti Suzuki, by comparison, sells twice that many of its similarly priced Alto hatchbacks every month. In fact, after peaking in April, Datsun only sold 607 units in India this past July, dipping 77 percent to drop below even the number of Nanos which Tata sold that month.
