Up for bid is my 1972 Classic 240z 4 Speed Manual. For those of you who know about Z's, this is one amazing machine. Not only is it gorgeous in style, but the design and quality build make this car ageless and will only increase in value as time goes on. This auction will end Tuesday night.

Condition & History

I bought this Z a couple of years ago and have pretty much been kept it in the garage accept for the occasional weekend drive. I bought it from the grandson of a die-hard Z owner that kept it as original as possible, re-upholstered it and handed it down to his grandson. Unfortunately, hard times forces me to sell. Overall condition is good, but could use a tune-up and a few repairs that I listed below. In fact, this 240z would make a good full restoration project if you wanted to go that far. Engine revs well and transmission shifts smoothly. The car is very light-weight, but having no power-steering gives it that old school feel. Battery is new and the body has few scuffs and scratches on it. Paint job looks to be an aftermarket burnt orange and is still in pretty good shape. There's an aftermarket exhaust and an aftermarket front fascia fairing. Engine looks to be all original accept for an aftermarket ignition. She fires right up with no problems and sounds strong.

The Bad

1. There is rust in the battery compartment area (which I've heard is typical) as seen in the photos

2. Driver side door needs adjustment to close tight

3. Cigarette Lighter, Horn and clock do not work

4. Right lower turn signal needs replacing

5. Dashboard is cracked down the middle

6. AC/Fan/Heater do not work

Background

The Z-series is a Nissan Legacy. This was the original Japanese sports car that started an auto revolution.

Autoblog Podcast #339:

Nissan IDx 'in the plan' for production, needs support from fans [w/poll]

Wed, 15 Jan 2014

If there's a trend in the auto industry we can firmly get behind, it's the small, light and affordable rear-drive coupe. The positive critical reception to the Scion FR-S and Subaru BRZ twins has encouraged other manufacturers to look at building their own rear drivers, and even a few to show actual concept cars based on the idea. The Chevrolet Code 130R from 2012 and more recently, the Nissan IDx twins that were first shown at the 2013 Tokyo Motor Show both come to mind, as does the brand-new Kia GT4 Stinger Concept.
Nissan trotted out the IDx Nismo and the IDx Freeflow for another showing in Detroit and we'll admit to being totally smitten with both cars. Again. The duo draw inspiration from the iconic Datsun 510, a lightweight, affordable rear-driver that remains a cult favorite decades after production ended.
Now, a report from our friends at AutoWeek reveals that we may, possibly, hopefully see a production IDx, provided fans make a strong enough case for it. "It's in the plan," Nissan product boss Andy Palmer told AW. According to the report, Palmer said the IDx is "into the first sage of the development process. The next stage is project validation and then looking at the business case. It's no one's intent to waste millions of the company's money, so obviously we have a good feeling about this one."

Malaise Era All-Stars

Fri, 17 May 2013

A few weeks ago, we bid a fond happy 40th anniversary to the automotive dark ages of 1973-84 that have come to be known as "The Malaise Era" - the performance ice-age when 160 horsepower was a lot and a 0-60 time of under 10 seconds was remarkable. Like music in the 1980s, everything in automobiledom didn't suck, however. There were a few bright spots. Here are five of our favorites:
