Excellent running condition, restored body and interior. No rust. This car was owned by my Z mechanic who had just installed a new remanufactured L28 280z engine from Nissan (when you could still order replacement engines). I bought it from him after he had put about 2000 miles on it. I then had the body completely stripped and restored, painted Porsche Midnight Blue. I installed a 5 speed manual transmission from a 1984 300zx and rebuilt the center console to accommodate the new shifter. I also purchased a NOS OEM R200 differential. Ignition upgraded to a MSD electronic ignition. Aluminum radiator with thermostat controlled electric cooling fan. This car NEVER runs hot. Mechanical fuel pump replaced with a Holly electric fuel pump. The car has been meticulously maintained by mechanics at Z Expert and Precision Z. All oil changes made with Royal Purple. New heater core. New dual tip exhaust. All bushings changed to urethane. New rubber seals throughout. Headlight relays upgraded with new headlights. All gauges work including clock. Front and rear anti sway bars. New Carpet. Seats reupholstered in original black. This car runs smooth and starts up every time (choke needed on cold mornings). Choke works perfectly. The following keep the care from being a prize winning show car. The paint is very good, but not show quality as I have put about 3000 miles on the car and it has some chips (they are small and do not show in the pics). There are some very minor imperfections in the body (again, the do not show in the pics.) There is a small crack in one plastic headlight cover (around a mounting screw). The front urethane air dam paint shows some wear. The rear bumper has some chrome chipping underneath one section. The center console has some wrinkles in one corner. This car would make a dependable driver, or a future collectable. It is a blast to drive. Buyer pays shipping. Sold as-is. Please ask any and all questions BEFORE bidding. Thanks.

Roadkill pits every project car against each other

Sat, 22 Feb 2014

The guys behind Motor Trend's monthly Roadkill series have collected nine of their favorite project cars from their videos and pitted them against each other in a battle royale to determine a winner. It's 44 minutes long, but it's completely worth the investment of time.
The cars run the gamut from a 1973 Chevrolet Ramp Truck, a 1975 AMC Pacer and a legitimately impressive 1967 Chevy Camaro, and they are pitted against each other to see which is the fastest around an autocross course. The drivers include Roadkill's two hosts and Motor Trend's Johnny Lieberman and Carlos Lago. It's reminiscent of the best episodes of Top Gear and worth a watch.
So it's the weekend - the perfect time to relax. Grab your preferred beverage, get comfortable and enjoy 44 minutes of some seriously ratty but utterly cool project cars as they are throttled within an inch of their lives (or past it). Scroll down to check out the video.

Datsun officially reborn with Go model for India [w/video]

Mon, 15 Jul 2013

In March of 2012, Nissan announced the return of its historic Datsun brand. Datsun used to represent the Nissan brand in a number of markets, but its badge hasn't been worn on a new model since 1981. In 2013, though, it has been relaunched as the Japanese manufacturer's budget offering in the emerging markets of India and Russia.
The model that will lead that charge, at least in India, is the Go, a car that pays tribute to the very first Datsun, the DAT-GO.
The operative term with the Datsun brand is: "budget offering." Don't step inside the Go and expect beautiful hides or brushed metals (it's being sold in India, after all). The instrument cluster features a simple speedometer, while the five-speed manual and the center stack above it are rather barren. It's not without luxuries, though, as iPod-style connectivity is available through a Mobile Docking Station.

This father and son duo terrorize the UK countryside in Datsun 240Z pair

Wed, 12 Nov 2014

The Datsun 240Z got a lot of things right when it was introduced, with handsome styling, strong performance and a reasonably affordable price. And while the coupes grew a strong fan base in the US, they remained quite a rarity in the UK. Decades later, a father and son in England have latched onto the car and bonded over their shared love for two completely opposite takes on this Japanese GT
There's already quite a collection of exotics in Mel Streek's garage, and his rat rod 240Z, which he calls the Ratsun, definitely doesn't fit with the rest. On the outside, the Datsun looks ready to fall apart, but it's mechanically perfect underneath. Alternatively, Mel's son, Ollie, has a completely different take for his Z with its perfect, shining paint.
Both Zs sound amazing, though. They have a mechanical, somewhat course exhaust note that's intoxicating to hear. You can definitely tell there's some work going on under the hood. Check out this video from Petrolicious for a father and son who both find something to love in these classic Japanese coupes.
