Condition: up for bid is this 1956 Chrysler Windsor Newport 2 door hardtop which can either be restored or used as a parts car. it is a complete car with motor and transmission. the body has surface rust in places seen in pictures.  the floor pans have been attempted to be repaired but need to be replaced in the front. Copper thieves stole the radiator and the top part of the fan shroud is missing.  also missing is all of the right side stainless trim and the breather for the 2 barrel carburetor. it also has a small dent just back of drivers door. I will update and edit the engine condition if I can get it running and driving before the bid ends in 7 days.

Features:  this car has the big 331 cu in V8 "Y " block with the poly/heads push button automatic transmission. From what I understand about this engine, it can be turned into a hemi by putting the hemi heads, and intake manifold on it  Nice!!! it has factory power front seat, power steering, and power brakes. this is a North Carolina car and I have the nc registration from the previous owner with his name so the title can be searched and obtained if you choose to restore instead of parting the car out. The car has good rocker panels, solid trunk, doors, inner fenders, splash pans front and rear. it also has a manual cowl vent. the body to door lines are good and even as well as the hood and trunk body lines good and straight.

History: I was told that the car was running when it was parked several years back. I am not the original owner.  I purchased it from a friend who gave up on the idea of restoring it. the car has had  lower quarter fender body work as well as being painted before.

Shipping and payment:  the winning bidder will be responsible for the shipping of this car however I will help them in anyway to make the shipping go as smoothly as possible.  there will be a $500.00 deposit required  within 24 hrs of the bid ending and the remainder of the payment before shipping or pick up in person within 3 days after the deposit.  I accept pay pal, money order, certified ck or cash in person at pick up. and again, I will work with you to make this transaction as easy as possible for the both of us. thank you in advance for your interest  and bidding on this car.

If Tesla Model 3 is successful, Sergio Marchionne will copy it

Fri, Apr 15 2016

Fiat Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne hasn't hidden his disdain for electric vehicles, but he would copy the Tesla Model 3 if it is successful, according to Automotive News Europe. If Elon Musk "can show me that the car will be profitable at that price, I will copy the formula, add the Italian design flair and get it to the market within 12 months," Marchionne told Automotive News Europe during FCA's annual meeting in Amsterdam. In terms of pre-orders, the Model 3 is a success. Musk tweeted on April 7 that the company had over 325,000 reservations for the sedan, which he estimated were worth around $14 billion. The car will start at $35,000 before incentives. Marchionne, however, isn't optimistic Tesla can actually make the electric sedan work financially. "I'm am not surprised by the high number of reservations but you have then to build and deliver them and also be profitable," he told ANE. The FCA boss is a noted skeptic of EVs. In 2012, he said that the company only built the 500e because of California's zero-emissions vehicle mandate and to give engineers experience with the technology. He doubled-down in 2014 when he claimed FCA lost $14,000 on each 500e and said he would rather people didn't buy them. More recently, he infamously said "you'd have to shoot me first," before he'd allow a fully electric Ferrari. Related Video:

Appeals court rejects GM's bid to remove judge from Fiat Chrysler lawsuit

Tue, Jul 7 2020

A U.S. appeals court on Monday denied General Motors' petition to remove a lower court judge from its racketeering lawsuit against Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, but said the companies' heads need not meet to settle the issue. The Sixth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals said U.S. District Judge Paul Borman abused his discretion by requiring GM CEO Mary Barra and FCA's head, Mike Manley, to meet face-to-face for reasons unrelated to the case, and without taking into account the risks of travel during the COVID-19 pandemic. The district judge's order for the parties to report back to the court in only eight days was also unwarranted, the appeals court said. Borman in June ordered Barra and Manley to meet by July 1, and later amended his order to allow other officials in their place. "We do not mean to say, however, that the district judge may not order a pretrial settlement conference and/or mediation in the normal course," the appeals court said in a filing. The court in June stayed Borman's order requiring officials from the two firms to resolve the lawsuit, and on Monday rejected GM's request for a new judge to oversee the case, saying Borman's desire for a quick settlement was "not so extreme" that he needed to be replaced. GM said in a statement it was grateful that the court had quickly reviewed and granted its petition for a writ of mandamus, that is, setting aside the requirement to meet. However, the company did not comment on the rejection of its request to reassign the case to another judge. GM sued FCA last year, accusing the Italian-American company's executives of bribing United Auto Workers union officials to secure labor agreements that put GM at a disadvantage. Shasta County woman leads police on totally groovy chase

Tue, Mar 8 2016

Would you lead police on a high-speed chase through town for a Scooby Snack? A Shasta County woman did just that over the weekend in her very own Mystery Machine. On Sunday, March 6, a Shasta County probation officer contacted the Redding, CA police department about Sharon Kay Turman who was wanted for violating probation, PIX 11 reported. After a short search, police located Turman near the intersection of California and Shasta streets at the wheel of a 1994 Chrysler minivan painted up like the Mystery Machine from Scooby Doo. Redding police attempted to stop Turman, but she apparently had an important mystery to investigate and she fled the scene. She sped down South Market Street with Redding Police in hot pursuit, running a red light and hitting four other vehicles in an intersection. This didn't stop the Mystery Machine however, and RPD broke off their chase as she entered southbound Highway 273. A California Highway Patrol helicopter picked her up on Hill Drive just north of Anderson, CA and she was pursued through town by Anderson PD at speeds in excess of 100 mph. She eventually abandoned the Mystery Machine on California Highway 36 and fled on foot. Turman's whereabouts, and the status of the Scooby Snacks, are currently unknown. She is wanted by both the Redding Police Department and Shasta County Probation. Both agencies told KRCRTV that they are asking anyone with information regarding her whereabouts to contact them.
