INTRODUCTION AND DESCRIPTION

You are viewing my 1975 Chrysler New Yorker Brougham Coupe with the St. Regis roof option.  Finished in Vintage Red Metallic, this New Yorker is equipped with the 440 cu. in (7.2L) V8 engine (RPO Code "E85", 'T" code in VIN) with four barrel carburetor, the 727 "TorqueFlite" (RPO Code "D34") 3 speed automatic transmission mated to standard ('open") 2.72:1 ratio, 9.25 inch differential.

Since it rolled out of Detroit Michigan's Jefferson Avenue assembly plant 39 years ago, I believe this New Yorker has had two owners before me in the same family.  I believe the indicated mileage at just under 70,000 to be original but I cannot confirm this.  The date of pictures is April 2014.

Recall that 1975 marked the end of the Imperial brand, and in 1976 the New Yorker Brougham took many of the design features the Imperial had.  So the 1975 New Yorker Broughams were the last year they had the exposed headlights, non-waterfall grille, the length-of-the car stainless steel "swoosh", and the taillight assembly spanning the rear end.  Also 1975 was the first full year of the rare "St. Regis" roof option (only available on the two-door hardtops), which consisted of the forward-placed padded vinyl roof, opera windows, and other special trim features.

This New Yorker's original 440 cubic inch engine (the standard engine in the Brougham models) operates smoothly with no smoking or unusual noises.  The Torque-Flite transmission shifts fine in all gears with no unusual noises.  The brakes are power front disc/rear drum.  All electrical components still operate..the wipers, the horn, the gauges, and the interior and exterior lights but not the wiper fluid system.

As the Brougham model, this New Yorker is already very well-equipped (the manufacturer brochures for this vehicle can still be found online) from the factory.  Other equipment (working fine unless otherwise noted) are air-conditioning with automatic climate control, power windows, power seats, power antenna (not operating), chronometer (not working),  cruise control, interval wipers, dual remote mirrors, rear window defroster (not working), and AM/FM Stereo with "Search" (local and distance buttons) function and four speakers.

The cloth and vinyl standard Brougham seats are in very good condition with the exception of a small tear at shoulder level of the driver seat along the seam.  The door panels, dash panel, headliner, and carpet are in very good original condition as well.  The trunk carpeting is original and intact and the original jack and a spare tire is included.  I do not have the buildsheet (it may still be in the vehicle somewhere) or the original owners manual.  I do have a dealer brochure from 1975 that I will include with the car.

The second owner repainted the vehicle in the mid 1990's.  It was a pretty good job (single stage enamel) and has lasted all these years in the condition shown as the vehicle was garaged its entire life.  The floor pans, trunk pan, and frame parts did not have any evidence of rust, or rust repair, at all.  The "New Yorker" trim badge is missing from the decklid.  There is a little ding in the driver side skirt that appears to have been painted over in the past.

All glass is good and appears to be original.  The chrome/stainless trim parts are driver quality, meaning intact and in good shape but showing imperfections consistent with the vehicle's age and past usage (driver front wheel well trim piece has large crease).  The St. Regis roof vinyl roof is also original but shows some fading and evidence of past repair and recoloring along the mid-seam of the roofline.

The tires are an older vintage FIrestone 235/75-15 radials (you will want to consider replacements if sustained daily driving is your objective) and the 15x6.5 optional "road wheels" are in very good shape and are still sporting the pre-1976 "tower" center cap design.

This New Yorker Brougham Coupe is a rare, low-mileage, highly original example of the 440 cubic-inch powered C-body personal luxury coupes at Chrysler.  In a few short years by the end of 1978 the C-bodies would be gone ... the end of "big block"-powered, smooth-riding, “turnpike gobbling” cruisers that helped define a generation of American cars from the late 1950’s until the late 1970’s.  All gone and never to return.

I hope it finds a new owner who will appreciate it for what is represents but also because it still is s a really neat old cruiser that should preserved for many more years to come.

AUCTION SUCCESS CONSIDERATIONS

I have established a reasonable reserve (reserve will not be revealed while the auction is running) for this 1975 Chrysler New Yorker Brougham Coupe.  Please consider bidding during the auction to the extent and level you deem appropriate and based on whatever factors are important to you.

Note that I reserve the right to end this auction at any time at my sole discretion.  If you have not made any bids, or if you are not in front of me in person, please do not ask me for a BIN (Buy-It- Now) price, during or after the auction, unless you accompany your inquiry with a potential offer you would like to discuss.  If for whatever reason you decide not to bid, or are unable to bid, or choose not to provide a value indication with any inquiry, we will not have a good basis to discuss the car.

If reserve is not met, I may provide Second Chance Offers (SCO) through the Ebay system, but note that this is only possible with people who actually bid during the auction.  If you get a SCO (which is a Buy-It-Now auction that only the seller and the bidder to whom it was sent can access), it will only come through, the Ebay system (meaning it will appear in your Ebay mailbox) and it will be for a 24-hour duration.

Depending on where the recorded bidding ends, and if the reserve is not met, may also write the high bidder(s) through the Ebay system only, one at a time in the order of their final recorded bids, to discuss the item.  If I do not hear back from a bidder within 24 hours after writing them, I will assume that person is not interested and I may move on to the next person.

I am sorry in advance for the following realizing it will not apply to the vast majority of responsible Ebay members:   Encountering non-paying or unresponsive bidders is a very disruptive event that makes the auction experience unpleasant for both the seller and any legitimate potential buyer(s).   Please BE SURE BEFORE YOU BID that you have done whatever you need to do to STAND BEHIND the actual bid(s) YOU MADE and were recorded during the auction.

Because of a tendency to simply misunderstand or just outright ignore Ebay and seller auction requirements, bidders with less than 5 (five) feedback ratings may, at my discretion have their bids canceled (I may or may not try to contact you before canceling your bid) and then blocked from further bidding on this auction unless they contact me in advance of bidding. Bidders who make and then cancel their bid(s) will also be blocked from further bidding on this auction.

Bidders outside the continental United States are welcome to bid but also must email me before bidding to discuss important payment and shipping procedures.

INSPECTION AND WARRANTY INFORMATION

Please ask any questions that you may have that may not have been answered by this detailed listing narrative and visual media attachments. My listings are constructed in complete sentences in order to communicate my knowledge of important facts and to encourage independent thoughts and then any questions from interested parties.

But respectfully, I do not know what is important to you that may not have been discussed or depicted herein unless you ask me.  Any and all relevant and appropriate questions you submit while the auction is running will be answered promptly and as thoroughly as possible by email only to ensure clarity of any correspondences.

Given that this is a used vehicle, please do not have unreasonable expectations as to its current condition or future condition under your ownership. Also given its obvious age, this vehicle represents whatever standards of quality and workmanship that existed when it was built, so comparisons to improved build standards of today's vehicles is not appropriate.

Your bid forms the basis for a binding, legally enforceable contract.  As such, if you require it, please make all pre-purchase inspections (at the sole expense of the bidder) before committing to purchase the vehicle.  Inspections can be done by appointment only by you or your designated inspection service.  Although I believe I have described and depicted (with numerous high-resolution photographs and video) this vehicle accurately, please note that this vehicle is sold "as-is, where-is” with no express or implied warranties or guarantees of any kind.

With the required legal statements provided, I am a reasonable person and I know potential buyers may not be able to see this vehicle before bidding.  If the winning bidder was unable do a pre-bid inspection and then determines that, after submitting a timely deposit but before taking delivery, I did not accurately represent the vehicle in some significant and obvious way, I will immediately refund your entire deposit and we can both move on without any further obligation to each other.  Please recognize that this is not an invitation for potential bidders to skip your own pre-purchase due diligence and is not an opportunity for me and the winning bidder to try later to negotiate away our respective contractual responsibilities.

PAYMENT AND STORAGE

A $500 deposit is required from the winning bidder, due electronically via PayPal within 24 hours after the auction ends, to hold the vehicle.  I will not be accepting trades.   Full payment is due within 3 days of auction end via cash, bank-to-bank or wire transfer, or certified bank check (drawn on a major US bank).  Clear title in my name is in hand and vehicle can be scheduled for buyer pickup by appointment at anytime after full payment is received and cleared.  I can hold the vehicle in indoor storage for 15 days (or longer, if weather or other uncontrollable factors emerge) at no charge to the winning bidder after the auction (the charge is $15.00 per day after 15 days).

Thank you for viewing my auction.

Reid Bigland appointed CEO of Alfa Romeo, Maserati

Tue, May 24 2016

There's been a big shakeup in Fiat Chrysler's leadership team, as head of US sales and FCA Canada CEO Reid Bigland will replace Harald Wester as the chief exec for Alfa Romeo and Maserati. Wester will retain his position as chief technical officer of FCA. Both men will hang onto their positions on FCA's Group Executive Council. The move is an interesting one considering the widely publicized issues at both Alfa and Maserati. Alfa Romeo's problems are almost too many to list. The brand has promised a full-scale return to the US market for more than a decade, but faced repeated delays. Its latest volume model, the Giulia, is being savaged by reviewers over quality issues, and the company has frequently pushed its upcoming CUV back. If that were the only problem, it'd be annoying, but according to Automotive News, Alfa's relaunch is also considerably over budget. Maserati is an entirely different can of worms. Alongside Alfa, it's been stung by a slow Chinese market. Profits are down, according to Automotive News, and it's been widely rumored that the company will delay its next sports car, the Alfieri, until 2018 – it was previously promised for this year. Meanwhile, two of its three other models, the Quattroporte and GranTurismo, are dangerously long in the tooth, and the Levante is still months away from US sales. Can Bigland sort these issues out? Maybe. As Sergio Marchionne said in his official statement, "[Bigland] has an extraordinary record of growing sales and market share in the US and Canada over the last 7 years at FCA, including leading the growth and positioning of the Ram and Dodge brands for part of that time."

Here are all the vehicles sold by the 12 brands of the Fiat Chrysler PSA merger

Fri, Dec 20 2019

Sven Gustafson and Ronan Glon contributed to this report. Whether or not the formal merger between Italian-American automaker Fiat Chrysler and European conglomerate PSA Group means the return of Peugeot to the U.S., one thing’s for certain: The combined company will have a truckload of different brands. Sorting out what the deal means for all of them, including where they are sold and built, and whether and where there is product overlap, will be a key question for the two companies as they formalize the merger over the next 12 to 15 months. So far, both sides have steadfastly insisted that no job cuts or plant closures will result from the tie-up. WeÂ’ll see about that. In the meantime, weÂ’ve compiled an alphabetical list of all the vehicles currently sold in Europe and in North America by the various FCA and PSA brands, along with the years they debuted. We've gone into more detail about the European vehicles you might be less familiar with. The joint empire also has an antique store's worth of heritage-laced models and dormant brands, like Plymouth, Imperial, Simca, and Panhard, and it would have been even bigger had FCA not spun off Ferrari in early 2016. Alfa Romeo A legacy Italian sports car brand with roots in racing, Alfa Romeo has been struggling with declining U.S. sales. Giulia (2015): AlfaÂ’s rear-wheel drive sports sedan competes against German luxury sedans in North America and Europe. 4C (2013): The lightweight mid-engine rear-wheel-drive sports car is being phased out. Stelvio (2016): The Stelvio is a small luxury performance crossover that competes against the likes of the Porsche Macan and BMW X3 and is sold in both Europe and North America. Giulietta (2010): Sold in Europe, this compact hatchback is AlfaÂ’s entry-level model. After initially planning a rear-wheel drive 2020 update, the Giulietta is reportedly being nixed as part of FCAÂ’s latest product plans.   Chrysler Despite lending its name to its parent company, questions abound about the future of this legendary but faded brand, which is not offered in Europe. 300 (2011): Despite rumors of its pending demise, the four-door sedan lives on mostly unchanged for the 2020 model year, at least. Pacifica (2016): The successor to the Town & Country is ChryslerÂ’s bestselling model by a long shot and comes in gas-only and plug-in hybrid versions. Voyager (2019): ChryslerÂ’s newest minivan launches as its entry-level minivan for the 2020 model year.

What's in a trademark? Sometimes, the next iconic car name

Thu, 07 Aug 2014

The United States Patent and Trademark Office is a treasure trove for auto enthusiasts, especially those who double as conspiracy theorists.
Why has Toyota applied to trademark "Supra," the name of one of its legendary sports cars, even though it hasn't sold one in the United States in 16 years? Why would General Motors continue to register "Chevelle" long after one of the most famous American muscle cars hit the end of the road? And what could Chrysler possibly do with the rights to "313," the area code for Detroit?
