1961 Chrysler New Yorker 2 Door Hardtop Rust Free California Car on 2040-cars
Davis, California, United States
|
For sale is a rare unrestored 1961 Chrysler New Yorker 2 door hardtop. It is and always has been to the best of my knowledge a dry California car. Other than some minor surface rust, the car is virtually rust free. It is loaded with options including power steering, power brakes, power windows, power seat and air conditoning. The car has been off the road for nearly 30 years suggesting that the 79,000 miles on the odometer is likely correct. I have not tried to start the car but it looks like with a little tinkering, it may be a runner (but I can not be positive). The interior will need to be redone and the car does need paint. The car is mostly complete but is missing the top of the back seat (I believe I know where one is) and is missing the passenger side stainless piece and the bottom of the passenger front fender (again I think I have a source for this). Please note:...the wheels and tires pictured on the car do not go with the car. The car will have its original wheels, tires and hubcaps reinstalled at the close of the auction. The wire wheels and tires are off of my 1961 Chrysler wagon and were put on the New Yorker so you could get an idea of how beautiful the car is with them on. Please bid accordingly. The car is sold as is where is with no warrantly (it is a 50 plus year old car). I would be more than happy to show you the car and welcome any questions you may have. I am a Chrysler lover and this car is one of the neatest excercises in automotive styling ever. With the canted headlights, the full body fins and the luminesent dash...it does not get any more wild than this. Add in the fact that this car shares the exact same body as the 300 this year and the fact that it is covered in stainless steel (unlike the 300) and you have one really sweet car. The only reason I am selling this car is to raise funds for two current project cars I have that are in the process of restoration (otherwise it would not be for sale) so I am not interested in trades (but thanks anyway). I appreciate your looking and good luck bidding. Thanks again. (530) 723-2145.

180,000 new vehicles are sitting, derailed by lack of transport trains
Wed, 21 May 2014If you're planning on buying a new car in the next month or so, you might want to pick from what's on the lot, because there could be a long wait for new vehicles from the factory. Locomotives continue to be in short supply in North America, and that's causing major delays for automakers trying to move assembled cars.
According to The Detroit News, there are about 180,000 new vehicles waiting to be transported by rail in North America at the moment. In a normal year, it would be about 69,000. The complications have been industry-wide. Toyota, General Motors, Honda and Ford all reported experiencing some delays, and Chrysler recently had hundreds of minivans sitting on the Detroit waterfront waiting to be shipped out.
The problem is twofold for automakers. First, the fracking boom in the Bakken oil field in the Plains and Canada is monopolizing many locomotives. Second, the long, harsh winter is still causing major delays in freight train travel. The bad weather forced trains to slow down and carry less weight, which caused a backup of goods to transport. The auto companies resorted to moving some vehicles by truck, which was a less efficient but necessary option.
2023 Chrysler Pacifica gets a 'Road Tripper' package for spring
Wed, Nov 16 2022Chrysler, the car maker that helped to ignite the minivan craze more than four decades ago, will offer a 2023 Pacifica Road Tripper version to dress up a trio of their minivans next spring. Borrowing an adjective from a certain German brand, Chrysler has billed the Road Tripper as "the ultimate family travel vehicle.” The Road Trip package, which can be added to the Touring L and Pacifica Touring L Hybrid models, is mostly comprised of cosmetic features. It will cost from $1,495 to $2,395, depending on the model. Road Trippers will show off Luster Gray Road Tripper graphics, outlined in Brilliant Orange, on the front driver and passenger doors. The 20-inch wheels (18-inch wheels on the Hybrid) are also Luster Gray, as are the center caps, which carry a Brilliant Orange Chrysler wing badge logo. The package also includes semi-gloss Granite Crystal accents front and rear, as well as on door moldings, door handles and mirror caps. There's also a roof rack and all-weather floor mats. The optional Road Tripper package is to be available on gas-powered Pacifica Touring L and Pacifica Touring L Hybrid models, in a choice of three exterior colors: Bright White, Brilliant Black and Ceramic Gray. Ordering for the vans is scheduled to open in the first quarter of next year, with deliveries to dealers in the spring. The company says it had turned to social media to select a name for the package, with the final selection garnering the most votes in a poll on some social channels, including Instagram and Twitter. The idea, said Chris Feuell, Chrysler brand CEO, was to demonstrate “the Chrysler brandÂ’s commitment to customer collaboration moving forward.” Related video: This content is hosted by a third party. Mopar introduces winter tire and wheel packages
Wed, Dec 2 2015Winter is coming, and Mopar will try to help drivers stay safe in the cold weather this year by offering a winter tire and wheel package for a variety of FCA US vehicles for the first time. The packages combine everything drivers need to be prepared for slick roads, including winter tires, steel wheels, and Tire Pressure Monitoring System sensors. Even better, the company delivers them mounted, balanced, and ready for installation. Customers can order the bundles from dealers now. Mopar offers packages with the General Altimax Arctic tire on the Dodge Caravan, Chrysler Town & Country, Jeep Cherokee, and Chrysler 200. All- and rear-wheel drive configurations of the Chrysler 300 get the Michelin X-Ice Xi3, and the all- and rear-drive Dodge Charger models use the Continental WinterContact SI. Depending on the vehicle, prices vary between $242 and $292 per wheel, and Mopar will expand the program to even more models next year. Spending the extra money on winter tires really can make a difference. Experts are clear that the specialized rubber simply works better when the weather gets cold. They can shorten braking distances and improve traction – even with all-wheel drive. Plus, winter tires can often last for more than one year, which spreads out the investment.
