Chrysler line featured ads proclaiming “The most beautiful Chrysler ever built,
Agreed?” The lineup was the first effort of a new to Chrysler designer, Elwood
Engel, who had defected from Ford in 1961. He had designed the elegant 1961
The 1966 Chrysler New Yorker Town Sedan featured in this auction sold new at Knauz Chrysler Plymouth in Lake Forest Illinois to a gentleman named James Mannino. He and his wife used it as their driver car until 2007. They drove this as their everyday car for 41 years! It is still a Nice Car! Jim passed away and ownership went to his stepson. I bought it from him in May 2008. Both license plate frames and a keychain from the selling dealer are included as well as all of the original keys. The car is equipped with Power steering and brakes, Air conditioning, working factory AM/FM Radio with rear seat speaker, Power trunk release, remote drivers mirror, rear window defroster, power windows, 6 way Power seat and air shocks. Everything is operational except the air is not as cold as it should be.
Condition
This is a Nice garage kept car. The car runs, drives and stops great! When I bought it the passenger side front fender and hood were damaged. Other than that the car is nice original paint. I installed a used fender and hood and repainted the top of the front fenders and the hood. The hood is slightly warped from the sandblasting process. There is a scrape and some rust down low on the passenger side quarter panel and a few small bubbles elsewhere. I can find no other rust on this car. The front seat was rebuilt and recovered in incorrect materials. The rest of the interior and trunk are in beautiful original condition. It still sports its original Goodyear Power Cushion spare tire and jack. The really good news about this car is the mechanicals! They always had the car serviced at the Chrysler dealer. There is a complete paper history of this car starting at day one! They spent in excess of $10,000.00 on this car from 2001 to 2007! All of the receipts are included. Its original 440 engine was sent off by the Chrysler dealer to Jasper Engines and Transmissions for a factory rebuild, they also did the A/C system, brakes to include new parking brake cables etc. The list goes on… I just put on 4 new all season Radial tires. I have included a photo of the Jasper rebuild tag on the engine block. It does not use any oil between the 3,000 mile oil change intervals! I have personally driven this car over 12,000 miles in the last 6 years including three trips to the Fall AACA Hershey car meet. The current mileage is 147,154. You can really drive this Chrysler anywhere with confidence.

UAW reveals more details for tentative FCA deal
Sun, Oct 11 2015Around 40,000 union workers employed by Fiat Chrysler Automobiles have a new proposed contract to vote for or against just about a week after soundly rejecting a previous proposal. Like the contract that was rejected, this new proposal was negotiated between union leadership and management at FCA. If workers vote this time to accept the contract, negotiations are likely to begin in earnest with the other two big American automakers, Ford and General Motors. The biggest sticking points that kept the previous contract proposal from being ratified revolved around so-called second-tier UAW workers. Under the rejected contract, there wasn't a clear path in place that would bring these newer hires into wage parity with first-tier workers. The newly proposed contract, however, would have second-tier employees earning around $29 per hour – the same as first-tier workers – after eight years of employment. A slightly revised profit-sharing plan is also included, as is a larger signing bonus for first-tier workers. Gone from the new contract proposal is a health-care cooperative that would combine workers from all three Detroit-based automakers into one pool. While this action had the potential to lower health-care costs for UAW members, it wasn't universally understood by rank-and-file workers, said UAW President Dennis Williams. "I was a little naive," he said. "I really thought everyone understood it. It is my fault. I should have educated people more on it. And so we did take it out of the agreement." If ratified, this new contract will go into effect immediately and will cover a four-year period. Over that course of time, the UAW expects FCA to increase its employment figures by a little more than 100 workers, according to reports. How a Chrysler New Yorker rally car turned father and son into best friends

You might not want to talk to your dad (or son) about politics, but if you can get him into a conversation about 1950s automotive design, then you can chat for hours. The latest video from Petrolicious looks at how Jonathan Auerbach and his dad bonded through racing in long-distance rallies in an absolutely brutish 1951 Chrysler New Yorker.
The Auerbachs have over 10,000 miles in competition on this behemoth of a Chrysler. It packs a 354-cubic-inch (5.8-liter) hemi V8 with Weber carbs under the hood, and driving it looks more akin to piloting a ship than any kind of on-road vehicle. The New Yorker can take a pounding and just keep going, too. Jonathan says that they hit two deer during one event, and the only damage to the car was some missing trim up front.
The next goal is to prep the car for the arduous Peking to Paris Rally. The big Chrysler should be quite the sight when it rolls across the finish line in France. Chrysler recalling 780k minivans over fire risk
Fri, 09 May 2014Chrysler is recalling 780,000 of its Town & Country and Dodge Grand Caravan minivans from the 2010 to 2014 model years due to the possibility of circuits overheating, which can lead to a fire. Of the 780,000 total vans being recalled, Chrysler estimates that 644,850 are in the US, 106,980 are in Canada, 8,009 are in Mexico, and 20,638 are in other markets. All of the affected vehicles were built between August 25, 2010 and October 31, 2013.
Chrysler's engineers discovered that beverage spills or exposure to moisture (from rain, snow, car washes, and the like) were linked to circuits shorting in the window switch assembly. Short circuits can overheat, and thus, cause a fire.
Chrysler will contact owners and let them know when they may schedule service, at which point, the window switches will be replaced. In the interim, the automaker says that owners may visit their dealers after May 14 to have the switches disconnected.
