This car was bought by my father in 1973 from the Dudley Bros. dealership in Comanche Texas. The car was taken in trade there in 1966 then parked behind the dealership until 1973 when an auction was held and my father acquired it with the intentions of using it as parts car for his 1956 Imperial at the time. Fortunately for this 56 New Yorker his plans never materialized and it remained intact. My father in the mid 80's gave it to me and it has been in my possession ever since. From about 1989 to 1998 it was driven on a regular basis then parked as a result of needing a brake job. Only recently in the last few weeks have I begun the process of rebuilding the brakes and cleaning out the fuel system. The factory WCFB Carter 4bbl carburetor has been rebuilt and runs great.
It currently is very dusty and sitting on 4 jack stands in my shop garage while I complete the brakes. The pictures that you see here were taken a couple of years ago when I pulled out to wash it and take pictures of it next to my 1956 Desoto which I had at the time. Basically aside from recent dust accumulation from sitting in my shop last couple of years the car looks exactly the same. I no longer have the Desoto as I sold it shortly after taking these pictures.
This car has lived its entire life in Texas and has been stored for the last 40yrs inside out of the elements when not on a road trip. All this to say is that this is a VERY SOLID basically rust free car with the exception of one spot on the passenger front fender down low where leafs apparently collected inside the fender at the dealership. There is a spot about the size of a 1/2 dollar where it rusted a hole from the inside out.
This car ran great when parked and always started right up. With its Power Steering, Power Brakes, AutoTransmission & Hemi it was a real pleasure to drive and still will be.
PLEASE contact me with any questions you might have. Thanks for your time and interest!

Dodge shows can-do attitude with grand Can'avan sculpture
Fri, 01 Nov 2013There are lots of ways to celebrate an important birthday, and all of them are well deserved. You can throw a big party, buy yourself something nice, or - if you're the altruistic type - do something for others in need. The latter is how Chrysler has opted to mark the 30th anniversary of its Dodge Grand Caravan and Chrysler Town & Country.
Together with hunger-advocacy organization Canstruction, the Chrysler Foundation has built a full-scale replica of the Grand Caravan out of 30,000 food cans in the square at the corner of Yonge and Dundas in Toronto, a ways down the highway from where the real vans are built in Windsor. The sculpture was built over the course of 10 hours by 30 volunteers and was displayed earlier this week.
Now the installation is being taken down, and the cans of food are being donated to the Daily Bread Food Bank, which will assemble them into 2,000 food baskets to be distributed to those in need through its network of 200 food banks across the Canadian metropolis. Check out a neat time-lapse video of the build and the press release below.
Chrysler recalling 780k minivans over fire risk
Fri, 09 May 2014Chrysler is recalling 780,000 of its Town & Country and Dodge Grand Caravan minivans from the 2010 to 2014 model years due to the possibility of circuits overheating, which can lead to a fire. Of the 780,000 total vans being recalled, Chrysler estimates that 644,850 are in the US, 106,980 are in Canada, 8,009 are in Mexico, and 20,638 are in other markets. All of the affected vehicles were built between August 25, 2010 and October 31, 2013.
Chrysler's engineers discovered that beverage spills or exposure to moisture (from rain, snow, car washes, and the like) were linked to circuits shorting in the window switch assembly. Short circuits can overheat, and thus, cause a fire.
Chrysler will contact owners and let them know when they may schedule service, at which point, the window switches will be replaced. In the interim, the automaker says that owners may visit their dealers after May 14 to have the switches disconnected.
Chrysler 200 prototype spied for first time with new body
Tue, 17 Sep 2013Chrysler is deep into testing for its next-generation 200 sedan, a new model that is utterly essential to the brand's continued health. The next iteration is tasked with wiping away anything reminiscent of the Sebring, which the current 200 is still based on. According to our spy, this is one of the first of the new 200s to wear a production body rather than the Alfa Romeo Giulietta-based mules that are thick on the ground in Auburn Hills.
Immediately apparent is that the new 200 ditches the awkwardly styled C-pillar that's typified four-door 200 sedans (and Sebrings before them) for years. The new, sleeker roofline is almost more of a four-door coupe than a traditional sedan, which hints that this new car will try to be more fashion-forward than its predecessor. The rear deck is set off by a sporty decklid spoiler, while a set of staggered rectangular exhaust pipes poke out of the bumper.
The front end appears sleeker, and we'd be lying if we didn't spy a bit of Dart through the camouflage, particularly with the headlights. A large, gaping lower air intake is visible, although our spy seems to think it'll shrink before production models debut. Whatever the new 200 ends up looking like, we expect to see a lot more of its styling from Chrysler in the coming years.
