See the seller's listing for full details and description of any imperfections.Seller Notes:"The roof liner is sagging and the driver's manual seat recliner lever handle needs repair. The A/C is not working. P/W and P/D/L motors work, but the LF and LR windows need regulator cables and the rear door locks need servicing (functional manually). The synchros are weak in first and second gears, but shifting slowly avoids gear clashing. Tires and battery need replacement. The windshield needs to be resealed. One of these areas is visible in photograph #19 (close-up of passenger windshield wiper). After heavy rain, water leaks onto the front passenger side floor. The parking brake cable needs lubrication. The parking brake holds fine, but will not release usually. I have not been using the parking brake for that reason."

I am selling this car for a very good friend of mine who is quite ill.  He is the third owner and I was the second; he bought it from me in 1990.  The car has not been driven much in the past few years due to his medical difficulties and now is parked by my residence.  I drive it occasionally (estimated to be fewer than 1,000 miles in 18 months).  This is a decent vehicle which needs much TLC.  With new tires and a new battery, it should be able to be driven within the U. S. A. as it is now, although I cannot guarantee this as factual.

There are no guarantees or warranties of any type.  The vehicle will be sold as is and where it is located.

Included in the price are a replacement 5-speed manual transaxle with 25,000 miles and a NOS muffler.

Please contact me with any questions (e-mail preferred).  You may call, but likely will reach my voice mail.  If so, please advise your name, contact information, and preferred time for my return call.

This car is for sale elsewhere.  I reserve the right to end the auction early if the car is sold via another source.

Due to time limitations while creating this ad I may have left out some items inadvertently.  If in doubt, please inquire.

Could Chrysler leave Michigan for Tennessee?

Tue, 18 Jun 2013

Detroit's Big Three could become the Big Two. According to an AP report in The Detroit News, state officials have been lobbying for Fiat-Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne to select Tennessee as the location for Fiat's joint headquarters with Chrysler Group LLC.
This weekend, Marchionne met with Tennessee governor Bill Haslam at a ceremony celebrating the expansion of a Fiat subsidiary plant in the city of Pulaski. The AP report does not mention any serious talks about headquarters relocation, only that Tennessee officials have been "working me over pretty well," according to Marchionne.
Fiat hopes to complete its merger with the Auburn Hills-based automaker sometime next year, and earlier reports have stated that the company is seeking $10 billion in financing to buy the remaining bits of Chrysler. If the company were to relocate, it would join Nissan and Volkswagen in having major American automotive operations in Tennessee. Of course, that whole "Imported From Detroit" thing would need to go out the window, as well.

Italian government to lean on Fiat's Marchionne to commit to country

Sun, 26 May 2013

With the recent chatter that Fiat is looking to move its global headquarters to the US following a complete merger with Chrysler, the Italian government is voicing its opinion on the matter. Facing the potential job loss from the automaker leaving the country, Italy's industry minister is meeting with Fiat CEO Sergio Marchionne in what will likely be a plea to keep the company based in Turin rather than moving to Auburn Hills, MI - if indeed it is able to acquire the additional 41.5 percent of Chrysler currently owned by the United Auto Workers.
According to Bloomberg, Fiat is Italy's biggest private employer and unemployment is already nearing a 20-year high. The non-car side of Fiat, Fiat Industrial, is already planning a move to the UK, so it goes without saying that Fiat moving would be a pretty big blow for the Italian economy. In the article, Fiat says that the headquarters issue is "not on its agenda now," but that statement is far from a denial.

Treasury says auto bailout tally drops to $20.3 billion

Tue, 12 Feb 2013

In December, the US Treasury announced that it was going to sell all of its shares in General Motors within 12 to 15 months. The first tranche of the 500-million total shares was purchased by GM, which took 200 million of them at $27.50 per share. That price represents an eight-percent premium over the market price at the time. The remaining 300 million shares will be sold "through various means in an orderly fashion."
Of the $418 billion disbursed through the Troubled Asset Relief Program (TARP), a report in Automotive News indicates that "about 93 percent" has been paid back, and the latest figures put Treasury's loss from the program overall at $55.58 billion. That's a $4.1 billion improvement on the last figure, when the expected red ink added up to $59.68 billion. The auto industry's portion of that loss is estimated to be $20.3 billion, a 16-percent drop from the earlier estimate of $24.3 billion.
The Treasury now owns 19 percent of GM, but if all goes well, there will be no more cause for anyone to utter "Government Motors" by the end of Q1 next year. A loss of some kind is still expected, however. Although GM's stock price is close to $29 at the time of this writing, that's still $4 below its IPO price and well below the $72 share price necessary for the government to come out even on its GM investment. On second thought, maybe the ribbing will continue.
