1962 Chrysler Imperial Crown Coupe For Sale.

This car was purchased new in 1962 at Skyline Motors dba Sheely Motor Company, 326-330 S. College Ave., Ft. Collins, CO by the Morton Family of Lyons, CO.. The car has lived its entire life to date in Lyons, Colorado where it has benefited from being continuously owned, maintained, and cared for by the Morton Family.

The car is very solid, not rusty (salt not used on roads here) and runs and drives very well. Very comfortable and smooth ride. It does not leak or drip.

The 97,500 miles is the original mileage.

The interior of the car is in excellent condition, no cracks in dash, no rips/tears, headliner excellent, etc.. The steering wheel rim has some cracks but is not loose.

All power options (windows, seats) and electrical (lights, dash, etc.) function.

The body is straight without any evidence of prior accident damage, bondo, etc..  The paint is good, certainly above average but there are some blems the worst of which is two small dimple dings on the lower trunk lid. Gaps are good; all doors, trunk open and close well. Door hinges all good, no up/down movement.  Sometimes the hood hangs up a little when opening it; hinges could use adjustment. Chrome, trim, wheel covers, etc. all very good. The undercarriage of the car is clean and straight with only some very light surface rust on its 52 year old steel.
The car would benefit from a good buffing and polishing.

This car is just one of 1,010 Crown Imperial Coupes built in 1962. It is the last of the Virgil Exner designed and styled Imperials and is last year of  Imperials built in their separate plant. Truly a unique example of " Rolling Americana ".

The ID Plate on the front left door jamb reads "VEH # 9223102955"

The Left firewall plate reads "0905  0006  922  H2  1  12 5 SO Number 0905 0006 BDY 922 Trim 515 PNT YY1

NHTSA questions FCA's reaction to recalls, will hold public hearing

Wed, May 20 2015

The US Department of Transportation and National Highway Traffic Safety Administration are holding a public hearing on July 2 to investigate whether FCA US is failing to fix safety problems and issue necessary notices. The agencies also want detailed accounts of the handling of 20 recalls by June 1 as part of a special order. If the Feds determine that the automaker isn't living up to its legal requirements, the result could go as far as a "buy-back or replacement of affected vehicles." "Significant questions have been raised as to whether this company is meeting its obligations to protect the drivers from safety defects, and today we are launching a process to ensure that those obligations are met," NHTSA administrator Mark Rosekind said in the announcement of the hearing. The 20 recalls that the agencies are investigating date from between 2013 and 2015. Just some of these include the action to make the fuel tanks safer on the Jeep Grand Cherokee and Liberty; FCA US' Takata inflator repairs; inadvertently deploying airbags in the Liberty, Grand Cherokee and Dodge Viper; and the company's ignition switch fix for the Chrysler Town & Country, Grand Caravan and Journey. Failure to submit reports about all of these on time could result in a $7,000 per day fine. You can read the whole list in the PDF for the special order. In a statement to Autoblog, FCA US said, "The average completion rate for FCA US LLC recalls exceeds the industry average and all FCA US campaigns are conducted in consultation with NHTSA. The Company will cooperate fully." The government agencies claim that they have received complaints from customers alleging that they weren't notified of recalls; parts not being available; difficulty getting an appointment, and misinformation from dealers. During the hearing witnesses from FCA US, NHTSA and the public have the opportunity to present evidence on each campaign. U.S. DOT Announces Fiat Chrysler Public Hearing and Issues Special Order NHTSA has concerns about 20 recalls and sets public hearing date for July 2 WASHINGTON – U.S. Transportation Secretary Anthony Foxx today announced that the Department's National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) will hold a public hearing to determine whether automaker Fiat Chrysler has failed to remedy safety defects and issue required notices in 20 recalls.

Chrysler recalls small number of 2013-2014 cars and trucks over engine debris

Thu, 12 Dec 2013

Chrysler is recalling a small number cars over issues with their 2.4-liter four-cylinder engines. The recall, which affects 522 examples of its 2013 Dodge Avenger and Chrysler 200 models, as well as 2014 Jeep Compass and Patriot CUVs has to do with potential debris in the balance shaft bearings.
The abrasive stuff can cause the oil pressure to drop, which could lead to the engine stalling or outright failure. This situation could at best leave drivers stranded and at worst lead to a crash.
Chrysler will begin notifying owners, who will need to report in to have the balance shaft module replaced. All repairs are naturally free of charge. Scroll down for the bulletin from NHTSA.

Marchionne says Fiat Chrysler can make 6 million cars per year

Tue, 01 Apr 2014

The combined Fiat Chrysler Automobiles will see its production capacity increase from a projected 4.6 million in 2014 to 6 million units once it completes its integration, according to statements made by FCA CEO Sergio Marchionne.
"With the initiatives we will announce in May, six million is accessible," Marchionne said during a Fiat shareholders' meeting in Turin, according to The Detroit News. Marchionne is aiming to complete the merger between the Turin, Italy-based Fiat and the Auburn Hills, MI-based Chrysler by the end of this year.
Increasing production by 1.4 million units is no small order, particularly when combined Fiat and Chrysler sales have increased only modestly in the past few years - only 4.4 million units were sold in 2013, and while 4.6 million is projected for 2014, 4.5 million is also a distinct possibility. Six million units per year has been Marchionne's self-imposed goal for the combined automaker, according to The News, claiming that FCA would need to crest that point to achieve profitability.
