Frank Sinatra Edition Offered At No Reserve on 2040-cars

Year:1981 Mileage:80046
Location:

This car runs, shifts and drives wonderfully (less
than 200 miles on rebuilt engine) and looks great
from a distance but (in the spirit of honesty and
"full disclosure") less so when you get close:
it has a number of tiny dents and dings (really
could use new paint but as a driver it's just fine).
and there are a couple of interior cigarette burns
(I'm told the gentleman who owned it previously
was the original owner, a mechanic who was rather
careless with his belongings especially when he had
beer in his belly).  Other little issues include a radio
antenna doesn't go up and down automatically as it's
supposed to (aftermarket AM/FM radio/casette player
works fine), headlight doors are stuck open, seat-motors
not fully operational (but can be partially adjusted; I'm
6'1" and totally comfortable in the driver's seat), all the
necessary instrument panel displays light up (but some don't
switch to the alternative settings, i. e. from gallons to litres,
etc).  I was told by the gentleman who handled the sale that
the car had a little less than 50,000 miles on when it was
converted from fuel injection to carburation at which point
the ODO's are zeroed-out; it's showing 80000 miles now.

But ... in the final analysis this car IS a very rare Sinatra edition,
of which Barrett-Jackson has said there are less than 35 left licensed
in the U. S. thus this model is not only rare it's a true classic ... so if
you love these cars and are good w/your hands this car will help you
pass many enjoyable hours puttering and fixing and/or many more great hours
behind the wheel driving it as is.  One more thing, with the engine rebuild it has
smogged twice here in California (which means it'll smog anywhere it has to).

So I'm leaving it to you Imperial afficionados to determine the
car's value by offering it at true No Reserve, pehraps one of the
last chances ever to own a Sinatra this decent for a great price
Granted this car may not be the handsomest guy in the class but
he sure can run!

Car is being sold as-is-where-is.  Buyer is responsible for
shipping from San Diego to your location.  $500 deposit
payable to ebay w/in 24 hours of completing purchase,
balance due within 48 hours after that.

Volkswagen Routan dead one last time

Wed, 25 Sep 2013

Volkswagen halted production of the Routan minivan in late 2012 due to low sales volume, but there were reports swirling around that it would live on and continue production alongside the closely related Chrysler Town & Country and Dodge Grand Caravan. But now VW says that it will indeed stop Routan production for good, The Detroit Bureau reports.
As of our report in March, VW hadn't built a single Routan in 2013, and we can't imagine things have gotten much better for the minivan since then. The Detroit Bureau reports that VW produced some 2014 Routans, but they aren't for sale to the public - they are fleet-only affairs.
VW originally intended to sell between 45,000 and 50,000 Routans per year, but since it was introduced for the 2009 model year, annual sales of the minivan have averaged only 11,500 units. VW has sold 57,683 Routans total.

FCA workers get raises, health care co-op in new UAW deal

Mon, Sep 21 2015

The pending labor agreement between FCA US and the United Auto Workers is now in the hands of union members to confirm. It's expected to be accepted, but a final decision could take weeks, The Detroit News reports. Employees didn't get everything they were hoping for, and contrary to earlier reports, the two-tier wage system remains in place. However, there are attempts to lessen the difference between the levels in this four-year deal. Assuming FCA US workers agree to this offer, the starting pay for tier-two workers would go up around a dollar to $17 an hour. The other level would now begin at $25.35, about a $6 increase, and they would receive 3 percent raises in the first and third year of the deal. Both groups also get $800 in profit sharing for each percent the automaker's profit margin rises above two percent. Extra money kicks in for the second tier above eight percent. Union members get a $3,000 bonus for accepting this contract, as well. The other major change under the pending agreement is the previously rumored switch to a healthcare co-op. The goal is to collect members from the Big Three together to create a huge member base for leverage to negotiate better rates with insurance companies. The UAW is promising no increase in cost to workers, according to The Detroit News. The idea was inspired by the similar structure for the Voluntary Employee Beneficiary Association for union retirees. UAW boss Dennis Williams expects the agreement to be approved. "Once the membership looks at it, hears the explanation for it, I think they'll ratify it," he said, according to The Detroit News. The next step is to craft similar deals with General Motors and Ford. Related Video:

Junkyard Gem: 1979 Chrysler Cordoba

Thu, Oct 20 2016

The original Cordoba personal luxury coupe, which debuted for the 1975 model year, was a big hit for Chrysler. Through the 1979 model year, it was based on the successful Chrysler B-Body platform, making it a sibling to the Dukes of Hazzard Charger and Governor Moonbeam's Plymouth Satellite sedan. I see a surprising number of Cordobas showing up in the self-service wrecking yards I frequent in California and Colorado, and this two-tone '79 showed up in a San Francisco Bay Area yard a while back. You could get the 1979 Cordoba with typical 1970s fuzzy-velour seats, but this one has the iconic Corinthian Leather of Ricardo Montalban fame. This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. Manage Settings. Yes, soft Corinthian Leather! This one has just about every possible option, if we are to go by the information in the brochure. The vinyl landau roof and two-tone paint were for serious buyers only. This V8 is either a 318 or a 360, and we won't discuss the depressing power figures that you get with engines of the late 1970s. Worth restoring? Not in this kind of condition. Source of parts for other, more valuable B-bodies? Yes. Related Video: This content is hosted by a third party.
