Up for auction is my 1957 Imperial sedan. It is a very well optioned car, has been kept garaged and dry, and well maintained. All of the interior is original, except for the seat covers and replacement carpet, both replaced by the previous owner. Factory seat covers will be included for reference. I rebuilt the original AM radio and added an internal FM receiving section, so it is basically an original tube operated radio that can receive FM and still changes stations with the foot button. Speakers were installed by the previous owner in the rear package tray. Two 6x9s and what appears to be a third speaker in the middle is actually the air intake for the rear window defroster. Some trouble with the headliner, I am including a replacement that I received with the car and never installed. I also have quite a bit of new windlace that I will also include.
I've made a 10 minute youtube so take a test drive with me! Ebay will not allow me to embed this video which I think is utter madness, so to view it, just go to Youtube and search for this: 7dG6Lvl-i-0 The name of the video is "1957 Imperial Survivor for sale" I highly recommend watching the video if you are interested for an up close and personal look.
The car is very dry. The floor pans are completely solid, as well as the trunk pan. The only issue with rust is some bubbling paint in a few small spots on the passenger side rocker, lower front fender, and over the rear driver side wheel opening. Mileage shown is 87,775 but the odometer is inoperative, so actual mileage is unknown. Rear bumper is dented, looks like someone backed into a pole! There is some strangeness happening on the passenger side... looks like someone picked up a D/A sander and had a field day on parts of the paint, and shoddy touch up jobs on other parts. The sand swirl mostly goes away with a wax. Also some shoddy repair on the passenger side between the tail fin and rear window, I think there was an aftermarket antenna or something installed there at some time and someone patched up the hole. This really needs to be redone. Car was repainted in the 1970s. I've added a power trunk release via a pushbutton under the dash.
Engine is original 392ci Hemi. Carburetor has been rebuilt and electric fuel pump added. Engine does not knock or smoke, but the lifters do leak down if the car has set for a week or more which causes some valve train noise for the first minute or so after starting the engine. I have documentation on this car for what looks like an engine overhaul in '79, as well a new windshield. There is a significant stack of receipts documenting the maintenence on this car over the years. Cooling system is adequate, I really put it to the test by sitting in backed up freeway traffic during the heat wave we had in the valley this Summer and the car ran only mildly hot. Power steering cap is missing, and I have it covered with a cloth wrapped in a plastic bag to seal out contaminants.
This is also a factory A/C car. The heater control valve needs to be rebuilt and the A/C system leaked out when I tried to recharge it, so neither work. Brakes were serviced two weeks ago; a couple wheel cylinders were replaced and the rest were rebuilt, including all new rubber lines. The brake shoes were in good shape.
Transmission operates smoothly and is pushbutton operated. Sometimes when the car has been sitting for a while, the transmission will have a tendency to pump fluid up out of the filler tube because the torque converter drains back into the pan. I have home remedied this by removing the dipstick and attaching a length of heater hose to the tube leading to a transmission fluid bottle. In the event this does happen, at least the fluid enters the bottle and doesn't spill on the garage floor. This only happens after the car has been sitting for a while.
Factory options include:
6-way power seat
Air Conditioning (not working)
Power windows
Power Antenna
Foot-operated power tuned radio, converted to receive FM
Windshield washer (not working)
Passenger side rear view mirror
Rear window defroster
Clear title, current California registration, original black plate car with early plate number issued circa 1957. A note about the plates, if the car sells out of state I will be keeping the plates.
To sum up, a great reliable car that I don't mind hopping in and taking on a road trip (just took it up the north coast with no issues)- only mechanical items that don't work are the heating and air conditioning.
I'm free most of the time if you'd like to come see the car, send me a message. I have more pictures of the paint bubbles on the lower rockers but have run out of space to show here. They're not outrageous but if you'd like to see the pictures contact me and we can arrange to send them over to you.
Regarding payment, I require $500 deposit via paypal within 48 hours of auction end. I prefer cash in hand for the balance, but if you're not local then I will accept direct deposit or wire transfer; I also accept business checks, but will hold it for a week before releasing the title. Upon cleared payment, I will send the title and bill of sale to you Fed EX standard overnight. Full payment due within 7 days.
Let me know if you have any questions!

Lee Iacocca’s 10,000-square-foot Bel Air mansion hits the market
Fri, Apr 3 2020We’ve seen the auctioning off of much of the estate of the late, famed auto executive and former Chrysler CEO Lee Iacocca, who died last year at age 94, including his 1992 Dodge Viper and wood-sided 1986 Chrysler LeBaron Town & Country Convertible. Now comes his former Southern California mansion, which has hit the market for a cool $26.9 million. The Tuscan-style mansion in the tony Bel Air section of Los Angeles is where Iacocca lived following his retirement from Chrysler and the automotive industry in 1992. According to the website TopTenRealEstateDeals.com, itÂ’s a 10,682 square-foot, five-bedroom, eight-bath palace on 1 acre near the Bel Air Country Club. It comes with four ensuite guest rooms, a separate staff apartment, formal living and dining rooms, a wood-paneled library and five (!) fireplaces. High ceilings, chandeliers and expensive wood trim and moulding work abound. ItÂ’s also tailor-made for entertaining, with big open-plan rooms opening to landscaped terraces, a chefÂ’s kitchen, a swimming pool, spa and tennis courts. And in fact, Iacocca was said to have entertained the likes of Bob and Delores Hope, Frank and Barbara Sinatra, Priscilla Presley and Betty White. Oddly, considering Iacocca was one of the first celebrity auto execs, thereÂ’s no information about the estateÂ’s garage; Autoblog has inquired about that with the listing agents and will update this if we hear back. In the overhead view in the gallery above, the driveway leads to the large wing on the left side of the house, so the garage is potentially pretty big, but it's hard to say what else might share space under that roof. Aside from his work developing the iconic Ford Mustang in the 1960s, Iacocca is perhaps best known to generations of Americans for his role rescuing Chrysler from collapse. He did so by securing a $1.2 billion federal loan from Congress, restructuring the company by cutting wages and closing plants introducing popular fuel-efficient cars like the K Car and introducing the minivan. After his retirement in 1992, Iacocca invested in casinos and a line of imported olive oil, and he was a member of several corporate boards. Chrysler will debut a fully electric Pacifica at CES
Sun, Dec 11 2016Fiat Chrysler Automotive will debut a fully electric version of its Pacifica minivan at CES, according to a report from Bloomberg citing "people familiar with the plans." There's already a plug-in hybrid Pacifica model with a battery large enough to allow for an all-electric range of 30 miles. It's unclear if it's this electric version of FCA's minivan that will be the basis of the self-driving vehicle the automaker will provide to Google. Bloomberg's report also suggests that FCA has an electric vehicle in the works for the Maserati brand. This Tesla-fighting vehicle has been rumored for some time, with previous reports pointing for a debut in 2020. In other words, we don't expect to see an electric Maserati at CES, but we'd love to be surprised. And we'll know soon enough – CES starts in less than month. Stay tuned. Fiat Chrysler to get $105M fine from NHTSA for recall woes
Sun, Jul 26 2015The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is about to send a powerful message to automakers doing business in the United States, assuming reports of an upcoming $105 million fine against Fiat Chrysler Automobiles comes to fruition. In addition to the record-setting monetary fine, according to The Wall Street Journal, FCA will have to accept an independent auditor that will monitor the company's recall and safety processes and will be forced to buy back certain recalled vehicles. In other cases, such as with Jeep Grand Cherokee and Liberty models with gas tanks that could potentially catch fire in certain types of accidents, FCA will offer financial encouragement for owners to get their recall work done or to trade those older vehicles in on new cars, according to the report. FCA could reportedly reduce its fines if it meets certain conditions, though those remain unclear at this time. These actions against FCA are being taken after NHTSA began a probe into the automaker over almost two dozen separate instances where the government claims FCA failed to follow proper procedures for recalls and safety defects. Included in those safety lapses are more than 11 million vehicles currently in customer hands. These penalties and fines are separate from the investigation over security problems with Chrysler's Uconnect system that allowed hackers to obtain remote access into key vehicle systems in 1.4 million vehicles.
