SRT-6 The SRT-6 trim level, as both coupe and convertible, featured an AMG supercharged engine delivering 330 hp (246 kW) and 310 lbft (420 Nm) of torque.[2] Other SRT-6 model specific features included suspension and brake modifications, a front fascia air dam and a fixed vs. retractable rear spoiler. The Crossfire SRT-6 model used the same drive-train, suspension, and braking components as those used on the Mercedes-Benz SLK 32 AMG. In 2006, the SRT-6 was changed to special order only, though none seem to have been sold in the U.S. SRT-6 2005-2006 3.2 SuperchargedV6; 330 hp (246K W, 335 PS); 310 lb.ft (420 N-m); 4.8 sec (5-speed automatic); 155 mph (electronically limited)The auto alarm was disabled. Chrysler readying 20 Moparized vehicles for SEMA

Tue, 08 Oct 2013

The Las Vegas Convention Center has plenty of space for aftermarket companies and automakers to show off their wares, and it looks like Chrysler is taking advantage of the spacious floor plan. At next month's SEMA Show, Chrysler will have a full 20 cars from its six brands decked out with Mopar gear.
As a hint of what is to come, Chrysler released a handful of teaser sketches showing glimpses of modified Jeep Cherokee, Ram 1500, Fiat 500L and Chrysler 300 concept vehicles. The automaker will also use the venue to show off a new line of Jeep Performance Parts offered by the all-new Mopar Off-Road Division. In addition to the images, Chrysler also issued a brief press release - posted below - breaking down some of the "industry-first features" that Mopar has offered in recent years.

Fiat Chrysler quietly sends Pentastar logo out to pasture

Wed, 05 Nov 2014

Logos come and go, and in the case of the famed Chrysler Pentastar, it's on its way back out. The well-known five-sided emblem, which sits prominently atop the massive Chrysler Technical Center complex in Auburn Hills, MI, is officially going to be phased out now that the company has united with Fiat and formed the new Fiat Chrysler Automobiles.
As a nearly 50-year-old icon, though, the fate of the Pentastar has been deeply intertwined with Chrysler's history. Hemmings has an excellent recap of that history, from its development in 1962 by a Chrysler ad agency through to its temporary discontinuation during the disastrous marriage between the American company and Daimler-Benz, and then on to its revival during the time the automaker regained its independence.
If you've been a fan of Chrysler and its brands over the years, you're going to want to give this piece a read. Head over and take a look.

NYT profiles Blue Nelson, a reclusive and interesting CA car collector

Thu, 25 Sep 2014

If it weren't for his Dale Earnhardt Sr. looks, Blue Nelson could be one one of those soft-spoken, nondescript guys whom you meet briefly and never learn much more about. However, as The New York Times shows in a recent profile and video, behind closed doors, Nelson keeps a fascinatingly eclectic collection of automotive oddities and vintage bicycles.
While his main career is in the movie industry, Nelson's other job is as a car hunter. He takes on clients searching for a specific model and helps them find and restore the dream vehicle that they're after. Hiring him takes some dedication, though, because Nelson doesn't advertise his services. "If people want to find me, they know how to find me," he says in the video.
Beyond being an automotive private detective, Nelson has a fantastically varied collection of vehicles of his own. He likes to have models that people don't usually see, and his garage holds a classic Chrysler New Yorker and an extremely rare Rometsch convertible. Although, the one that means the most to him is the 1962 Porsche 356 convertible that Blue came home in as a baby. Check out the video to learn more about Nelson and his philosophy about forming a bond with a car.
