1979 Chrysler 300 9,8xx Miles T-tops (2) on 2040-cars
O'Fallon, Missouri, United States
Two 1979 300's for sale. One is a good survivor, other would need a complete restoration.
I'm the original owner of this 1979 Chrysler 300. It has 9,8xx miles and still has the original window sticker stuck to the window. Have all original paperwork from when I bought it (broadcast sheet, title, inspections etc). It has the original drivetrain in it and runs and drives fine. Always wins trophys when we take it to shows. The interior is in good shape overall. Some of the door panels and trim pieces have faded, which is very common on these cars(I have two more). But this has not gone more than around the block or on and off the trailer at car shows. So this wouldn't be a car to buy, fly in and drive it home. I would definitely trailer it as it has most of the original fluids and the original tires. Has a ding here and there and a nickel sized surface rust spot as shown in the pictures by the rear window. Front end was repainted in the early 2000's. The undercarriage has some surface rust, but has no soft spots or holes anywhere on the car. One of the front tires has a cut on the side, but could probably be switched with the spare tire. Some pitting on chrome in spots. Has new exhaust on it and an aftermarket stereo head unit. Other than that, it's original. (pictures available of everything) The second one that goes with this is a 2 fender tag 1979 300. There was another one at the Mopar Nationals that claimed only 321 were made with t-tops. It is loaded with just about every option (power windows, t-tops, power locks, etc). It needs a new trunk floor, interior redone, quarter panel work, motor redone, possibly transmission, and other spots which have rust. Driver fender needs work/replaced. Needs a COMPLETE restoration. Clean title though. $500 non-refundable deposit is due within 48 hours after the end of the auction. Cars must be picked up and fully paid for within 14 days after the end of auction, unless otherwise discussed. Car will be paid in full before it leaves my possession. Cash, paypal(and you take the fee's), or wire the money to my bank account. Can help with loading. Any questions, feel free to email me on here and I will get back asap. If you want more pictures just ask, I have over 100 showing all imperfections, top, bottom, everything. I've sold two cars on here in the past year($6,500 and $12,500) and bought one 2.5 years ago ($30K) and still have perfect feedback. |

FCA joins BMW, Intel and Mobileye on autonomous car project
Wed, Aug 16 2017Today, BMW, Intel and Mobileye announced that FCA would be joining their effort to build a sharable and scalable platform for autonomous cars. This project has been moving ahead full steam, with Intel purchasing Mobileye earlier this year, not long after Tesla and Mobileye parted ways. Not long after that, parts supplier Delphi joined the autonomous effort. The group's current goal is to have 40 autonomous test vehicles on the road by the end of 2017. The eventual end game is to create a new architecture that each partner can use and adapt to its needs. The platform will support level 3 to level 4/5 automated driving, and can be adapted to suit brand identity. The main headquarters for the effort will be in Germany. FCA staff will join the already established group of engineers from BMW, Intel and Mobileye. The group expects this new platform to hit the streets by 2021. It's unclear how this will affect FCA's relationship with Waymo, Alphabet's autonomous vehicle project. Waymo currently uses modified Chrysler Pacificas for its fleet. In addition to FCA, the trio of BMW, Intel and Mobileye have extended an invitation to any other automakers and suppliers that want to join the project. Bailout dealership cuts did their job as profits surge
Tue, 01 Oct 2013Almost five years after US taxpayers bailed out General Motors and Chrysler, a large majority of their slimmed-down dealership networks are posting soaring profits, Bloomberg reports, and contributing to the US auto industry on track this year to deliver 15.4 million vehicles, the most since 16.15 million were delivered in 2007.
Consider another important figure: Bloomberg says that more than 90 percent of GM dealerships are profitable, compared to about half of them in 2008 and 2009. At the start of 2013, GM had 4,355 US dealerships and Chrysler had about 2,600. Compare that with just a few years ago, when GM had 6,246 dealers in 2008, while Chrysler had 3,200 in 2009.
As part of their bankruptcy restructuring, both GM and Chrysler decided that their retail networks contained far too many dealerships and insisted that they be slimmed down. The resultant dealership terminations followed by a rebounding auto market - in part due to better new GM and Chrysler vehicles - have increased the number of sales per dealership to record levels. Many dealers are taking advantage of increasing profits and investing in facility renovations and updates, such as Chrysler dealership owner David Kelleher. He's spending $2 million to expand his store.
Stellantis mega-merger gets approval from FCA, PSA shareholders
Mon, Jan 4 2021MILAN — Shareholders of Fiat Chrysler and PSA Peugeot decisively voted Monday to merge the U.S.-Italian and French carmakers to create worldÂ’s 4th-largest auto company. Addressing separate meetings, both PSA Peugeot CEO Carlos Tavares and Fiat Chrysler Chairman John Elkann spoke of the “historic” importance of the vote, which combines legacy car companies that helped write the industrial histories of the United States, France and Italy. Before the merger is finalized, shares in the new company, to be called Stellantis, must the launched. It will be traded in Milan, New York and Paris. The marriage of PSA Peugeot and Fiat Chrysler Automobiles is built on the promise of cost-savings in the capital-hungry industry, but what remains to be seen is if it will be able to preserve jobs and heritage brands in a global market still suffering from the pandemic. The deal will create the worldÂ’s fourth-largest carmaker, with the capacity to produce 8.7 million cars a year, behind Volkswagen, Toyota and Renault-Nissan, and create 5 billion euros in annual synergies. “We are fully aware of the fact that together we will be stronger than individually,'' PSA CEO Carlos Tavares told a virtual gathering of eligible shareholders. “The two companies are in good health. These two companies have strong positions in their markets.” The new company will put together under one roof French mass-market carmakers Peugeot and Citroen, top-selling Jeep and Italian luxury and sports brands Maserati and Alfa Romeo - pooling companies that have helped define the industry in the United States, France and Italy. While the tie-up is billed as a merger of equals, the power advantage goes to PSA, with Tavares running Stellantis and holding the tie-breaking vote on the 11-seat board. Tavares is set to take full control of the company early this year, possibly by the end of January. Fiat Chrysler chairman John Elkann, heir to the Fiat-founding Agnelli family and Fiat ChryslerÂ’s biggest shareholder, will be the Stellantis chairman. Fiat Chrysler CEO Mike Manley will head North American operations, which is key to Tavares' long-time goal of getting a U.S. foothold for the French carmaker he has run since 2014, and the clear money-maker for Fiat Chrysler. Such a deal was long wanted by Fiat ChryslerÂ’s long-time CEO Sergio Marchionne, who had predicted the necessity of consolidation in the industry. He was unable to find a deal before his sudden death in July 2018.
