1983 Chrysler Cordoba Low Low Original Mileage on 2040-cars
Pottstown, Pennsylvania, United States
|
Up for your bidding consideration is an extremely clean 1983 Cordoba. As it has been stored indoors it's entire life, very lightly used and devoid of the calamities that usually befall a car of this era. Some of you might recall seeing this car listed on ebay over the summer. I was the high bidder on the car and at that time, the odometer was showing approx. 19,700 miles. I've since put some 1600+ trouble free miles on her but sadly, a change in employment dictates it's sale.
Sporting just 21,396 original miles, this handsome survivor has been treated to a number of preventative maintenance measures. Though the fellow I had bought it from took very good care of the car, out of an abundance of caution, I performed the following before pressing it into service: r&r trans fluid and filter r&r rear brake shoes r&r rear differential lube r&r brake hoses r&r antifreeze r&r brake fluid r&r thermostat r&r suspension bushings r&r radiator hoses r&r shocks r&r heater hoses r&r air filter r&r plug wires r&r headlights r&r cap and rotor r&r fuel filter r&r all fan belts Of note, the battery was replaced on the day I picked it up. The tires were original as well, but at 30 years old, they were coming apart at the seams, so they have since been replaced with a new set of BF Goodrich radial T/A's. The stereo was also replaced with a Sony CD/MP3/USB unit and new rear speakers, which sound incredible. The interior is very nice with no rips or tears in the seats. As you can imagine, with the low number of miles accumulated in all those years, the seats weren't sat in very much, so they've maintained their shape quite well. The carpet shows little wear, the headliner is still attached to the roof, the gauges all work and the dash has no cracks. The landau top is in excellent condition as is all of them chrome. The power windows, power trunk release, power door locks and cruise control all function as they should, as does all of the lighting. As with any car of this vintage, there are bound to be a few blemishes. The original paint holds up very well, but there are several small stone chips and few scratches in the clear coat here and there, mostly on the trunk lid. The right rear wheel well molding is scuffed and the plastic seat belt covers are cracked. The heat does work, but is a little slow to come up. The a/c was converted over to 134a by the previous owner. When I bought the car it was working but needed a little boost. I put a small can of refrigerant in it and brought it back up to snuff, but please bear in mind, it is a 30 year old system and may need another shot come springtime. Overall it is a very clean, easy to drive car with an amazing 21,396 original miles on the clock. Don't miss this once in a lifetime opportunity to own a piece of 80's Chrysler history not involving a K car. Act now and receive an autographed copy of Disco Inferno by the Trammps. Disclaimer: Autographed by me that is, not the Trammps. BID EARLY BID OFTEN Please ask any questions prior to bidding and I will answer them to the best of my ability. |

Chrysler and Google launch virtual 200 factory tour [w/video]
Tue, 23 Sep 2014Google is no stranger to showing off some of the most interesting automotive destinations in the world, like the museums for Lamborghini and Ducati, or even a Tesla showroom. However, it's taking that technology even further with a new, in-depth look of the Sterling Heights Assembly Plant where the Chrysler 200 is made. Unlike these earlier online excursions, the new Chrysler factory tour is a fully guided experience that includes several 360-degree videos explaining many parts of the production process.
"Just as we pioneered a completely new Chrysler 200, we are pioneering a new way for consumers to research a vehicle. The Factory Tour is an opportunity for us to prove to consumers that the all-new 2015 Chrysler 200 is not one ever built before," said Olivier Francois, Chrysler's chief marketing officer, in the company's release.
Chrysler was already pretty proud of its nearly $1 billion in recent updates to the Sterling Heights factory having released a look at the 200's assembly process earlier this year. However, the new Google tour goes far deeper by including 12 videos, and between highlighted stops, viewers can swing the camera all over to get a full view of the action. The whole thing is an intriguing way to show the way a modern car gets built.
What's in a trademark? Sometimes, the next iconic car name
Thu, 07 Aug 2014
The United States Patent and Trademark Office is a treasure trove for auto enthusiasts, especially those who double as conspiracy theorists.
Why has Toyota applied to trademark "Supra," the name of one of its legendary sports cars, even though it hasn't sold one in the United States in 16 years? Why would General Motors continue to register "Chevelle" long after one of the most famous American muscle cars hit the end of the road? And what could Chrysler possibly do with the rights to "313," the area code for Detroit?
Buying bang for your buck: Chrysler 300 and Kia Cadenza
Tue, Apr 11 2017In today's car market a Chrysler or Kia with a base price of $30K can easily become $45K, just by checking a few random boxes. You can do the math – that extra $15K will cost you $300/month over the life (and death) of a 60-month payment book. If your goal is only to get places in a stylish sedan capable of staying with traffic, you can keep your outlay far closer to the base price of these cars. Although they may not appear on many shopping lists, there's a lot to like in the lower-spec versions of both Chrysler's 300 and Kia's upscale Cadenza. The Chrysler is relatively ancient among current product platforms, while the Cadenza was Kia's first upmarket initiative, now supplemented by the larger K900 and the fall debut of Kia's Stinger GT. But you will not find a better transportation value in a Kia showroom than its underappreciated Cadenza. Here's a closer look at both: CHRYSLER 300: This car is a testament to all that was right about the DaimlerChrysler merger of the late '90s. At the time of the 300 introduction, elements of its platform were taken from the Mercedes E-Class, and with proportions suggesting a mix of stately American and neoclassic German, the 300 continues to offer a "just right" mix of respectable accessibility. The guy owning the package store could "Dub" it, while Miss Daisy would have been eminently comfortable in its back seat. In 2017, the 300 is an outlier in the sedan landscape. This is a large four-door with rear-wheel drive (all-wheel drive is optional). But in a sea of Accord this or Avalon that, the 300 impresses as an almost-relevant update of sedans in your murky past. The attachment to Chrysler products of 50 years ago goes beyond the Hemi that might be under the hood; it's the entire vibe of a car company trying hard to distinguish itself in today's marketplace. Despite numerous updates, the Chrysler still seems last century, and that's just fine with older drivers with the cash – or credit rating – to consider a $40K car. Behind the wheel, Chrysler's 300 exhibits all we love about American motoring. You would never confuse the handling with 'crisp,' but it's competent, while the ride is almost sublime. This is a car that in fully-loaded form deserves a Hemi, but the V6 is generally unobtrusive, and might net you 30 mpg on the highway. The conventional, 8-speed automatic goes about its business exactly as an automatic should.
