YOU ARE BIDDING ON A 1999 CHEVY TAHOE. OVERALL THE VEHICLE IS IN GOOD SHAPE. AS SEEN IN THE PICTURES THERE ARE SOME COSMETIC DINGS, BUT NOTHING MAJOR. THE MOTOR IS GOOD AND DOES NOT BURN OIL, ETC. THE TRANSMISSION IS MAKING A WHINING NOISE BUT THE VEHICLE WAS BEING DRIVEN DAILY UNTIL THIS PAST WEEKEND WITHOUT ISSUE. IT IS FOR SALE BECAUSE IT HAS BEEN REPLACED WITH A DIFFERENT VEHICLE, OTHERWISE IT WOULD STILL BE ON THE ROAD. THE SHOCKS, BRAKES, ROTORS, AND TIRES WERE ALL REPLACED 18 MONTHS AGO. THE INTERIOR DOOR LATCH HAS CAME UNHOOKED INSIDE THE DOOR SO RIGHT NOW YOU HAVE TO ROLL THE WINDOW DOWN AND OPEN FROM OUTSIDE HANDLE. I HAVE NOT FIXED BECAUSE I DO NOT FEEL COMFORTABLE WORKING ON THINGS LIKE THIS. THE REAR WINDOW ON THE PASSENGER SIDE DOES NOT DEFROST BUT THE DRIVER SIDE DOES. ONE OF THE MAP LIGHTS ABOVE THE REAR SEAT DOES NOT WORK. I DO NOT KNOW WHAT IS NEEDED TO FIX THIS BECAUSE AGAIN I DO NOT WORK ON THESE TYPE THINGS MYSELF. TO MY KNOWLEDGE EVERYTHING ELSE IS WORKING PROPERLY. THIS IS STILL A GOOD VEHICLE. FEEL FREE TO ASK ME QUESTIONS AND I WILL DO MY BEST TO ANSWER THEM FOR YOU. Impala SS vs. Marauder: Recalling Detroit’s muscle sedans
Thu, Apr 30 2020Impala SS vs. Marauder — it was comparo that only really happened in theory. ChevyÂ’s muscle sedan ran from 1994-96, while MercuryÂ’s answer arrived in 2003 and only lasted until 2004. TheyÂ’re linked inextricably, as there were few options for powerful American sedans during that milquetoast period for enthusiasts. The debate was reignited recently among Autoblog editors when a pristine 1996 Chevy Impala SS with just 2,173 miles on the odometer hit the market on Bring a Trailer. Most of the staff favored the Impala for its sinister looks and said that it lived up to its billing as a legit muscle car. Nearly two-thirds of you agree. We ran an unscientific Twitter poll that generated 851 votes, 63.9 percent of which backed the Impala. The Marauder, despite coming along later, felt more hacked together, according to prevailing sentiments. Why? On purpose and on paper theyÂ’re similar. The ImpalaÂ’s 5.7-liter LT1 V8 making 260 horsepower and 330 pound-feet of torque was impressive for a two-ton sedan in the mid-Â’90s. The Marauder was actually more powerful — its 4.6-liter V8 was rated at 302 hp and 318 lb-ft. The ImpalaÂ’s engine was also used in the C4 Corvette. The MarauderÂ’s mill was shared with the Mustang Mach 1. You can see why they resonated so deeply with Boomers longing for a bygone era and also captured the attention of coming-of-age Gen Xers. Car and DriverÂ’s staff gave the Marauder a lukewarm review back in ‘03, citing its solid handling and features, yet knocking the sedan for being slow off the line. In a Hemmings article appropriately called “Autopsy” from 2004, the ImpalaÂ’s stronger low-end torque and smooth shifting transmission earned praise, separating it from the more sluggish Mercury. All of this was captured in the carsÂ’ acceleration times, highlighting metrically the differences in their character. The Impala hit 60 miles per hour in 6.5 seconds, while the Marauder was a half-second slower, according to C/D testing. Other sites have them closer together, which reinforces the premise it really was the little things that separated these muscle cars. Both made the most of their genetics, riding on ancient platforms (FordÂ’s Panther and General MotorsÂ’ B-body) that preceded these cars by decades. Both had iconic names.
Franchitti, Kanaan, and Dixon prank young IndyCar driver
Fri, May 22 2015The 20-year-old Sage Karam is a rising star in racing after scoring the 2013 Indy Lights Championship and taking ninth place in the 2014 Indianapolis 500. He's now competing for Chip Ganasi Racing, one of the top teams in the IndyCar Series, and counts this year's pole sitter Scott Dixon and former winner Tony Kanaan as teammates. Of course, being so young and a new member of the squad, some lighthearted hazing is to be expected. Dixon, Kanaan, and three-time Indy 500 winner Dario Franchitti decided to play a little prank on Karam. While ostensibly detailing his Chevrolet Camaro, the three joking racecar drivers turned it into the Karamo. Check out the video above to see exactly what that means. After some scary crashes going into this year's event, it's refreshing to watch some cheery things happening at Indy.
Next Corvette ZR1 to get 700 horsepower?
Tue, 19 Feb 2013Word has it General Motors may offer as much as 700 horsepower in the C7 Corvette ZR1. Motor Trend reports the next Corvette Z06 will continue to rely on its naturally aspirated 7.0-liter V8 engine for thrust, but the lump will deliver substantially more power. How much more? MT says the engine could deliver up to 600 ponies. That's a jump of 95 horsepower over the current Z06, though no figures have been finalized as of yet. Right now, GM is reportedly waiting to see what sort of grunt it can glean from the next ZR1.
The automaker has already made it clear it will resurrect the LT5 name for the new supercharged V8, and if GM is already pulling 600 from the Z06, the big dog ZR1 would theoretically offer 700 horsepower. Either way, the range-topping Corvette will be suitably insulated from its less potent siblings. Stay tuned. We aren't likely to see the Z06 for at least a year, with the ZR1 trailing along at some point there after.
