 2010 Chevrolet Suburban LT - 3/4 Ton 2500 4 Wheel Drive

We are the second owners of this Suburban.  We bought it from a gentleman who we do business with in Georgia, recently.  He had a 60-mile commute to work, hence the 90K all-highway miles.  It spent the majority of it's life in Georgia, and was regularly serviced, detailed, and always garaged from new.  He towed his 17ft fishing boat a few miles from his lake house.  He leased it initially, and then purchased it at the end of the lease. (Hence, Autocheck sees three owners, not the actual two.)

We purchased it while living in Louisville, Colorado, in August.  So to date, this vehicle has never seen snow, and has zero rusty-belly, as similar vehicles from the MidWest have.  I've only pulled a 6X12 U-Haul trailer with it, when we moved to San Clemente, CA.

Clearly cared for well, the paint is perfect, no swirl marks, and the exterior plastic and rubber are as new.  Most 3/4 ton Suburbans are relegated to towing mule, stored outdoors, and clearly, this one is different.  It looks new from any angle, and clearly, was not abused.  Inside has a pleasant leather smell, and neither owner has ever had pets.

We had a comprehensive service completed about 4K miles ago.  Changed the trans fluid, cooling system was flushed, both differentials were serviced with fresh oil, filters changed, etc.  It was a $1,200 service, and the invoice will be in the glove box with all manuals for your review.

This Suburban has a set of brand new Michelin LX/ AT 285/70/17 tires.   The highest rated tire for this vehicle from Discount Tire, and they have a nationwide warranty that we purchased separately.

The first owner buys the exact same color Suburban every 3 years, and does the same thing at the 30K mile service:  Changes out the tan carpet with black, at his Chevrolet Dealership. (Removed all seats, done perfectly.)  You may or may not be aware, tan carpeting ages in dog years, and looks like heck after 30K miles.  I put a full set of WeatherTech mats in, a $400 expense, and they have about 4K miles of use.

The transmission shifts perfectly, 6.0L V8 pulls nicely, and everything in this vehicle functions as new.  There are no excuses, and zero deferred maintenance.

The Suburban LT 2500 comes loaded, and is the highest trim level for 2010.

Options include:
  1. Four Wheel Drive
  2. Luxury Package
  3. Navigation System with AM/FM/XM/CD/ AUX-USB Plugin
  4. Backup Camera and Sensors
  5. Remote Automatic Rear Gate
  6. Tow Package with built in electronic brakes and heavy duty towing transmission/ brakes.
  7. Quad Seating - 4 Captains Chairs, both fronts are fully powered.
  8. Heated seats.
  9. Dual A/C, both ice cold.
  10. Leather throughout, including steering wheel.
  11. DVD/ Entertainment system with headphones, remote, etc.
  12. Running boards & Roof Rack

We added:  WeatherTech Floor Mats, New Tires, tinted the front windows, and removed the not so attractive door ding guards.

When looking for this specific vehicle, we found several to have north of 300,000 miles, as the 6.0L motor is GM's most durable gasoline truck motor.  We love this platform, and just bought an Escalade to replace this vehicle.  This Suburban now sleeps indoors, awaiting your interest.

Please see my feedback to verify integrity.  Feel free to come see and/or drive this vehicle.  Contact me to make an appointment.  Vehicle is in San Clemente, CA.

Thanks for looking, Adam 303-SEVEN-ONE-EIGHT-9480

2016 Chevrolet Colorado Diesel First Drive [w/video]

Tue, Oct 6 2015

The first thing you notice inside the diesel Chevy Colorado is that it's quiet. Almost too quiet. A lot has been done to quell noise and vibration with this new powertrain, and it shows – or rather, doesn't. There's some characteristic diesel clatter at idle, but even then it's distant and practically disappears as you start moving down the road. At full throttle, when the engine is at its noisiest, the sound isn't particularly diesel-like, just a pleasant intake breath. The accompanying smoothness is almost eerie. When we ask where all the noise went, Chevy's engineers, marketing guys, and PR reps all explain that this refinement is what Americans want. We're still not sure. This is a truck, after all, and the diesel pickup customer is different from the guy buying a diesel Cruze for his highway commute. Chevy contends that they're also not the same as the buyer of a Silverado HD. Although this 2.8-liter Duramax four-cylinder has been in service elsewhere around the globe, its first US application is in the Colorado and its GMC Canyon twin. The engine puts out 181 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque, and it does so unobtrusively as a result of a lot of modifications for our market. To keep normal diesel sensations out of the cabin, the intake and oil pan both get acoustic treatments. A new, thicker material is used for firewall sound deadening. Redesigned balance shafts have tighter tolerances to increase smoothness. The diesel powertrain is smoother than the Colorado's gasoline V6. One of the more interesting and certainly unexpected vibration-reduction changes is a special torque converter from German supplier LuK equipped with a centrifugal pendulum absorber. This pendulum spreads from the center of the torque converter as engine speed increases and is tuned to absorb the four-cylinder's second-order vibrations, not just those in a narrow frequency band. It does an admirable job, especially considering the engine's biggish, 0.7-liter cylinders, which lead to bigger vibrations. The result is a powertrain that's smoother than GM's (not particularly smooth) corporate V6, which is available in the standard Colorado. It's quieter than a Cruze diesel and even out-softens some gas direct-injection engines on the market. Paradoxically, it may be the most refined of all of the Colorados. No vibration comes through the steering wheel, pedals, floorboards, or even the rearview mirror. But you can tell it's a diesel when you hit the throttle.

24 Hours of Le Mans live update part three

Sun, Jun 19 2016

We tasked surfing journalist Rory Parker to watch this year's live stream of the 2016 24 Hours of Le Mans. What follows is an experiment to experience the world's greatest endurance race from the perspective of a motorsports novice. Parker lives in Hawaii and has an associates degree in dropping f-bombs. For Part One, click here. Part Two is here. Really hoped I'd be able to grab an hour or two of sleep before the sun rose over Le Mans. Dark dark dark, couldn't figure out what was going on. Commentators struggled at times as well. But I couldn't do it. Endurance racing is just too exciting. Grabs my attention with both fists. Screams, "watch these men DRIVE!" A neighbor invited me over for drinks. Told him, "Can't do it, gotta watch Le Mans!" Maybe not exactly. I'll admit, at times my attention wandered. I did a load of laundry. Ate some snacks. Half listened to the commentary. Threw a hump at my wife. I learned that Patrick Long, driving #88, is big brother to Kevin "Spanky" Long. Spanky's a bit of a legend in the skate world. Always weird how top notch talent can run in families like that. Kind of surprised I've never heard that before. Worked for a skate mag for a years, met Spanky a handful of times. Someone must've told me that he has an older brother who drives race cars. Dash cams at night are scary. High powered headlights in the P1s reach almost 300 meters. Cars outrun that distance easy. Seems like they're just steering into the black and hoping for the best. But that can't be the case. People'd be dropping dead let and right. Very amused by how the guys in GT are like, "Dude, stop flashing your fucking lights before you pass." But the LMP's are all, "Suck a dick! I do what I want." Top three stayed neck and neck nearly all night long. As the sun gets ready to creep back over the horizon the top three are separated by only eleven and a half seconds. Toyota 5 and 6, Porsche 2. Audi 8 is two laps behind Porsche, beleaguered 7 is dealing with constant trouble eleven laps from the front. GTE Pro sees Ferrari 82 in first, Ford 68 and 69 right behind. To win you've gotta drive perfect, build perfect. Fours cars retired so far. I'm beginning to appreciate the endurance aspect a little more fully. Only really considered the drivers at first. The mental and physical stress driving these cars at these speeds at length would inflict. But keeping the damn things running is the real deal. To win you've gotta drive perfect, build perfect.

GM raises 2023 guidance on strong sales, higher profits

Tue, Apr 25 2023

General Motors beat first-quarter profit estimates and raised its full-year earnings and cash-flow guidance after vehicle demand at the start of the year surpassed expectations. Its shares rose in premarket trading. GM made $2.21 a share in adjusted profit in the first quarter, compared to a consensus forecast of $1.72 a share. Revenue rose 11% to $39.99 billion, it said Tuesday, which was more than the $39.24 billion analysts expected. The stronger results stem from rising sales in the US, even in the face of higher interest rates and inflation. GM executives said demand was strong enough to revise 2023 guidance upward, boosting profit estimates for the year by $500 million to between $11 billion and $13 billion. “We did it with strong production and inventory discipline and consistent pricing,” GM Chief Financial Officer Paul Jacobson said on a call with journalists. “All in all, weÂ’re feeling confident about 2023.” The Detroit automaker raised per-share full-year guidance to between $6.35 and $7.35, up from $6 to $7 a share, and said free cash flow would also increase by $500 million to a range of $5.5 billion to $7.5 billion.  GMÂ’s shares pared a gain of as much as 4.4% before the start of regular trading Tuesday, rising 3.5% to $35.50 as of 6:55 a.m. in New York. The stock was up 1.9% for the year as of the close on Monday.  North American Strength The automakerÂ’s sales were particularly strong in North America, where first-quarter earnings rose before interest and taxes rose to $3.6 billion. Vehicle sales rose 18% to 707,000 in the region. Jacobson said the company originally expected to sell 15 million vehicles in the US this year, slightly less than the 15.5 million annualized rate automakers foresaw in the first quarter. North American demand was enough to offset a weak performance in China, GMÂ’s second-largest market. The automaker continues to struggle in the country, where its vehicle sales fell 25% to 462,000 vehicles in the quarter. Profits from its joint ventures in the market slumped 65% to $83 million.  The market has struggled overall in the wake of Covid-19 restrictions and foreign automakers have had to overcome a growing preference for Chinese brands by competing on price, squeezing profit margins. The situation in China probably wonÂ’t significantly improve until the second half of the year, according to Jacobson. GM remains on target to sell 150,000 electric vehicles this year, the CFO said.
