OH WOW! 2001 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 2500 HD 4X4 TOW PACKAGE, BOSS PLOW PACKAGE, NO RESERVE!!
This truck was a trade in to a local chevrolet dealer. It is being offered for sale with no reserve, as-is just like it was taken in. This truck was not inspected by a mechanic, but I have driven it and looked it over, and will tell you everything that I knw about it. I have several years experience appraising vehicles, so although I am not a certified mechanic, I'm pretty good as assessing these trucks. This vehicle will be wholesaled at a local dealer auction next week, it is being offered no reserve here, if you are the high bidder and follow through with the transaction it's yours, just bid what you want to pay, and take it home at a great price. This vehicle could use a couple things, but it does runs and drive really well, and will make someone an amazing workhorse.
Lets start with the exterior. This vehicle does have the typical northers rust on the rockers and cab corners as you can see. The rest of the body is pretty darn clean considering the age and miles. The bed does not have a liner and shows normal use. The tailgate functions. The extended cab doors do not open, not sure why, but they won't unlatch. This truck has very nice HD polished wheels. I would say considering the age and being a norther truck, she's a pretty good looker. Obviously this is how it was traded in and would benefit from a professional buff and detail. The glass is all in good shape. This does have a Boss plow mount, the electric plug-in and the plug for the joystick inside. I'm not a plow guy, so I don't know what you need to make it a plow, but I'm sure you plow guys out there can tell from the pics.
The interior of this truck is clean. Again, it could use a detail, but as you can see in the pictures the seats are all in good shape and clean, and the floors are really clean for a 2001. The dash and door panels all seem to be very nice. The A/C is ice cold, and it has a nice aftermarket cd player with a USB input for your ipod. The windows and locks function like they should, the drivers mirror does not.
The mechanical. This truck runs and drives amazing for the mileage. It goes down the road straight and tight. The heavy duty suspension on these really does hold up well. The engine sounds great with plenty of power, no abnormal noises, and it doesn't smoke. There is no check engine light on and it runs smooth. The transmission is tight and it goes through all of the gears just like it should. The tires are about 70% warn. They are matched Michelins, and ride nice. I would say you can still get thousands of miles out of them, but they will need to be replaced in the future. The brakes stop well with no pulse. What it needs: The airbag light comes on from time to time, buy it to be on. The ABS appears to activate just before you stop, when you get down to less than 5mph, you get the noice and pedal feedback. The ABS light isn't on, and they obviously work but not sure why they kick on at a stop. There is an oil leak that could be coming from the pan, the oil filter, or the rear main seal. Figure it to be the rear main seal. The 4x4 engages and comes out just like it should. If you hit the button going down the road like 40MPH, you get a half second grind noise when it drops in, if you put it in when you are stopped it doesn't make the noise. Works great, just seems like the on the fly isn't syncing right at speed.
So thats it, this is a good running driving truck that I wouldn't be afraid to drive 1000 miles back home. It does need a few things, but for the price I'm sure it will go for, this is going to be a hell of a truck for the price. Be the high bidder! This truck will have to be picked up between 9-5 M-F if you want the title when you leave. If you are not a Michigan resident you will get the title and a bill of sale. If you are a Michigan resident you will pay 6% sales tax, sign the paperwork, and get your title from the state in 10-15 days. Pickup or shipping is your responsibility, but I will help as much as possible. Paypal deposit is due in 48 hours, full payment and pickup within 7 days.
If you have any questions please ask, good luck and thanks for looking!

2023 J.D. Power Initial Quality Study shows there's less quality than last year
Thu, Jun 22 2023Vehicle inventory, vehicle pricing, and the supply chain are finally showing improvement. Vehicle quality, on the other hand, is still going the wrong way. That's the takeaway from the 2023 J.D. Power Initial Quality Study that found overall problems exceeded last year's record high. The study surveyed owners of 2022-model-year vehicles to assess the average rate of problems per 100 vehicles (PP100) during the first 90 days of ownership. The average figure for the 32 ranked manufacturers in 2020 was about 166 problems per 100 vehicles. In the 2021 IQS, that dropped to an average of 162. For 2022, the average jumped to 180 problems. For 2023, the PP100 is up to an industry average of 192 — an increase of 30 problems per 100 vehicles in just two years. Let's get to the good news first: Dodge reclaimed the crown of having the lowest number of problems per 100 vehicles at 140. Buick won last year with 139 PP100, falling to third this year. Dodge was the first American automaker to top the IQS in 2021. Its return as the least problematic gives parent company Stellantis three wins in four years after Ram was crowned in 2021. It also gives U.S. brands a four-peat after Buick topped the chart in 2022 by having owners report the fewest problems. This year's top 10 is Dodge, Ram, Alfa Romeo, Buick, Chevrolet, GMC, Porsche, Cadillac, Kia, and Lexus. Stellantis gathered a few feathers for its cap, in fact. Maserati showed the largest improvement year-on-year, followed by Alfa Romeo, and Alfa Romeo posted the lowest PP100 among the premium class, beating Porsche and Cadillac. Alfa Romeo has been vocal about working to improve quality, mentioning Lexus as a target. Last year the Japanese brand finished sixth, the Italians finished near the bottom, between Jaguar and Mitsubishi. This year Alfa jumped to third, Lexus dropped to tenth. Ram was the third-best on the list of improvers from 2022 to 2023.  The individual model with the lowest PP100 is the Nissan Maxima. Now for the troublesome bits. In the words of Frank Hanley, senior director of auto benchmarking at J.D. Power, "The industry is at a major crossroad and the path each manufacturer chooses is paramount for its future.
GM plans to restart production in Mexico on May 20
Mon, May 18 2020MEXICO CITY — General Motors is tentatively planning to restart operations at its auto assembly plant in the Mexican city of Silao on May 20, according to a message to workers seen by Reuters on Sunday, as the car industry prepares to exit the coronavirus lockdown. Separately, the president of GM's Mexican unit advised suppliers to prepare to resume operations. “We are now beginning a new phase given the Mexican governmentÂ’s official announcement earlier this week to consider the transportation manufacturing industry as essential for the countryÂ’s economy,” Francisco Garza, president ofGeneral Motors de Mexico, wrote in an email to suppliers dated on Friday that was viewed by Reuters. The reopening of the plant in Silao would be a positive signal for the auto sector in North America, whose supply lines are highly interconnected between the United States, Mexico and Canada. The plant in the central state of Guanajuato has been idled for weeks due to the coronavirus outbreak. Workers had previously been told to plan to return to their jobs on May 18. A GM spokeswoman said the company could not confirm when it would restart operations at any of its facilities in Mexico because it is awaiting more guidance from the government. The message to the plant's workers came after the government on Friday clarified when the industry could begin easing restrictions imposed because of the health emergency. On Wednesday, the government said automakers could start going back into production from May 18. It then withdrew that advice and suggested the new start date would be June 1. Finally it indicated the sector, which forms the backbone of Mexican manufacturing, could begin operating as soon as next week if companies had the required safety measures in place. U.S. officials and its auto industry have pressed Mexico's government to get its factories open again because American operations depend heavily on parts from south of the border. However, some politicians are wary of opening too fast. Mexico registered its first case of coronavirus weeks after the United States and Canada and the toll of daily infections and deaths in the country reached new peaks over the past few days. The Silao production facility, which makes highly profitable pickup trucks for GM, is one of the biggest automotive plants in Guanajuato, a major Mexican carmaking state. Related Video:
New Chevy Malibu helps parents monitor teen driver's performance
Thu, Apr 2 2015For teens, a driver's license can represent freedom. For parents, it can represent fear. Now there's a way parents can alleviate some of their worries and monitor their teen drivers. The 2016 Chevy Malibu, which debuted Wednesday at the New York Auto Show, contains a new feature that tracks driving performance and helps inexperienced drivers rein in some of their more dangerous habits. Accessed through a password in the car's infotainment system, parents can learn how far their child has driven, how fast they've gone and how many times they've braked hard, among other features. "It's an in-vehicle report card that gives parents information," says Mary Ann Beebe, one of the lead engineers who designed the system. "It's meant to be used as a teaching tool. Parents can sit down and talk with their teen about, 'Here are some areas where you're doing well, and here's some where you can use improvement.'" Car accidents are the leading cause of death for teens ages 16 to 19, and only last week, AAA released a study that found their driving behavior can leave them particularly susceptible to crashes. General Motors had sought ways to help educate and train younger drivers. In an era where data can be harvested from cars, monitoring performance is one way to provide information. Parents access the Teen Driver system in the car through a PIN-number entered into the Malibu's infotainment system. The report card can only be seen in the car – so far, it's not available via a smartphone app, like some other types of on-board diagnostic information. The system is activated by the use of a specially programmed key fob that lets the system know who is driving the car. Once the vehicle recognizes the key fob, it takes preventive measures to ensure safer conduct behind the wheel: Until the driver and front passenger buckle their seat belts, the radio is muted. Safety systems such as forward-collision assist and electronic stability control are automatically turned on. Parents can preset preferred speed limits, and drivers will hear a warning if that sound is exceeded. "We have these great technologies, and we want to make sure we turn them on for the teen," Beebe said. There are no geo-location aspects of the program, and data is stored on the car, not uploaded to the Cloud or even seen by General Motors, she said.
